Surrounding it are small bridges, flowing water, deep waterfalls, cliff-style sloping houses. Everywhere is a beautiful scenery. The inn was transformed from a century-old old house that integrates the styles of nature and originality, local customs and gentry, ethnic culture and the Republic of China era. The culture of the gentry of the Republic of China and the simple and wild Xiangxi culture are very rich. It recreates the Xiangxi world described by Shen Congwen, being rough yet exquisite, aged yet refined, profound yet leisurely.

"Beautiful traditional guesthouse right by the river — perfect location for exploring the old town of Fenghuang. "An exceptional experience! I highly recommend this accommodation for a wonderful stay in the ancient town. The hotel itself is picture worthy ,a beautiful wooden building with details that transport you to another era. Upon arrival at the reception, it feels like stepping into an old tea house, as the hosts welcome you with local tea and provide all the essential information for exploring the ancient city.The room was stunning ,everything was wooden, thoughtfully crafted, and impeccably clean. There was even a small counter where you could prepare your own tea. The view from the balcony was lovely as well.Breakfast included noodles, rice cake, vegetables, dumplings, eggs, and more. It was served in the shared courtyard, which was charming and picturesque, with a small fire lit in the center ,such a beautiful touch.
Lastly, the owner and her assistant truly won me over by gifting me a lotus-shaped tea set with local tea inside. It’s also worth mentioning that when you book the room, they offer complimentary pick-up from the station.
Honestly, this was one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in China, thanks to the incredible hospitality and kindness of the ladies at the reception. Thank you!"

"I initially thought the online reviews might be exaggerated, but my experience far exceeded expectations. The room had a Chinese-style decor with solid wood furniture paired with natural rock, giving it a very luxurious feel. At night, the sound of the waterfall acted like natural white noise, ensuring a very peaceful sleep. What's more, the butler service was exceptionally attentive and quick to respond, fulfilling every request and making our stay incredibly comfortable."

"We had a lovely stay here, it was a great location to be with the two night shows a close walk in either direction. Lovely to be with a balcony along the water and near one of the small waterfalls, both during day and nights lovely experience. They kindly messaged and organised to pick us up from the train station free of charge. They helped us with our bags as in the old town, cars cannot go down the last bit of cobblestone and there are stairs to get to the room, but it was very manageable and as mentioned they also kindly helped us. They also organised a taxi back for us to the station. And when I forgot my earrings after checkout (I had not noticed) the cleaner found them so promptly within 30 minutes that they were kind enough to get them back to me before I had even left for the station, their diligence and helpfulness is greatly appreciated. Would absolutely recommend staying here."

"It was from far the best place I’ve stayed in my whole trip to China. It’s exactly inside the scenic area (so please note that you need to buy the ticket to enter in this area to be able to get in the hotel, and the area is full of stairs and only walking, so you’ll need to carry all your luggage). The room is big and comfortable, great shower, all the amenities, staff is amazing and helpful, even providing tips about which performances are better to see. The view is stunning: you see the waterfalls from your balcony. I loved the place, feel grateful for find it. "I’m a kiwi girl travelling through the Hunan province for the first time and I am so glad I chose this accommodation! I keep telling everyone to go here because it was incredible! The staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a comfortable stay. They’ll pick you up from the train station, carry your bags through the cobblestone streets and upstairs to your room. They took me to the evening performances, brought me snacks and recommended restaurants. When the restaurant didn’t have cocktails, the staff went back to the hotel to make me a cocktail!!! The location was divine and the view overlooking the waterfall and town took my breath away. The amenities were incredible also, everything was up to date and could be voice activated. My only area of improvement was the hole in the skirting by the bathroom and a cockroach crawled out of there but I would 100% go back again!!"

"This hotel offers a super convenient location, just a 3-minute walk from Furong Ancient Town. It's definitely a much better choice than staying inside the town, where guesthouses often cost upwards of 1000 RMB and can get quite noisy at night due to bars and the constant sound of the waterfall. Staying here, just outside, ensures a peaceful night's sleep.
The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to and from the high-speed rail station. It has nearly 200 rooms, and while the corridors aren't air-conditioned, the in-room AC works very well and keeps the rooms cool. A gym and laundry room are available. A convenient feature is facial recognition for room entry, so no key card is needed! They also have a tea room where you can brew your own tea.
Breakfast is officially until 9:30 AM, but they usually don't clear it until around 10 AM. I'd recommend they just officially extend the breakfast hours to 10 AM.
The only minor issue was the very weak water pressure in the shower."

The terrace of the rooms has a great view too but some of the rooms are separated from others."

"We stayed at the hotel for one night during the golden week! It was super busy but we enjoyed our stay a lot! The view is really nice on the bridge! Luckily it’s not in the middle of the town (because of the noise and busyness) I liked the location a lot because we could walk everywhere!! Great bathroom, super nice shower! Bed was comfortable ! Room was clean!
No elevator but they helped us with our suitcases!

"The location of the room was excellent, with convenient parking very close to the scenic area entrance. The room was clean and tidy. Although there's no elevator, someone helped us with our luggage. The landlady and hotel staff were very friendly and even called us a day in advance to help book tickets for the scenic area, which was a thoughtful and helpful service. Breakfast was decent, and I loved the small balcony in the room where we could overlook Furong Ancient Town from afar. Overall, it was a great experience."

GGuest UserHonestly, this was one of the warmest hotel experiences I’ve had in China. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to help me with everything — from prebooking the scenic area ticket (at a discount!) to arranging a smooth free pickup based on my train arrival time.
They even upgraded my room for free to one with a great mountain view. Throughout my stay, they helped me explore the area and even told me about the evening cultural show in the village — which was amazing, and I would’ve totally missed it if they hadn’t mentioned it.
In the morning, when I said I couldn’t eat pork, they quickly prepared a special noodle dish just for me and helped point out the other pork-free options. They also arranged my departure taxi without any hassle.
The location is great too — just a few minutes’ walk to the waterfall. Overall, such kind people and a genuinely pleasant stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

Thanks to the incredibly kind and hospitable owner who made us feel like family. The owner, who was the sole caretaker of the entire house, went out of her way to ensure our comfort and well-being. She personally helped us with laundry, shared warm smiles, and even provided traditional medicines like hot tea to help soothe my cough. Her genuine care and attention made our stay not just comfortable, but truly heartwarming.
The homestay itself is located in the beautiful Furong Ancient Town, a serene and laid-back town in Hunan Province that offers a glimpse into a millennium-old town with rich history and culture. It’s the perfect place to soak in the slow-paced, authentic charm of traditional Chinese life. I highly encourage everyone to visit Furong Ancient Town and experience its unique blend of history, tranquility, and local hospitality.
If you’re looking for a homely stay where you’ll be treated like family, and a chance to explore one of China’s charming ancient towns, this homestay is the perfect choice. It’s a memorable experience that I will cherish forever!
P.S. The restaurant just beside the homestay serves the best Humba and Bamboo Shoots. Our family loved the Hunanese dishes.

BBibiBrakiWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms are very modern, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with a great view of the old town. We even received a complimentary room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise. The service was excellent and very attentive, and the free shuttle to the train station was very convenient.
The location is quiet and peaceful, yet only a 5-minute walk to the old town – which is actually perfect, since the old town can get quite noisy at night with loud music. The hotel also has a nice pool, which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast is available, though it mainly consists of Chinese dishes.
Overall, highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

Thank you Laopan! 😀 You just need to be ready to respond to his message, i suggested you to add him in We Chat compared to texting in the trip app. Same number as the phone hotel info. He will pick you up from Furongzhen station & about 20 minutes car drive to his hotel. He’s truly good at his service, he carried all our 28 inch big luggage from car towards the doorstep! That’s the most amazing!😄
The room is same like in the photos & toilet for me is acceptable, clean & have hot & cold water! 🙂 We stayed here during end of October & the weather is slightly cold. It’s so good & comfy to sleep, you don’t even need to turn on the aircond 😆
Other good point is there’s water dispenser! Easy life happy life! The walk to Furong Ancient Town is about 10-15 minutes which i think is quite good as the view along the walk is very aesthetically aesthetic! I suggested you try the massage inside there! Foot + add on shoulder massages! It’s really therapeutic & chase away all your fatigue & pain! 😀

The owners took me to the train station for free too, I did try to add them on we chat to see if they could pick me up as i got into furong very late, but they didnt add me, luckily there were taxis outside 🙏😊 The lady is so friendly as took me straight to the ticket counter when I arrived!

VVaiFurong Ancient Town isn’t accessible by car in its main attraction area, as the town is beautifully built along a river that flows into a majestic waterfall. This B&B is perfectly located, about a 5-minute stroll from the main car park, and sits right next to the riverside.
Depending on the room you book, you may be treated to river views and even a partial view of the waterfall. We were lucky to have both. However, it’s worth noting that some inner rooms don’t have any views, so it’s best to confirm when booking.
The B&B also has a convenient adjoining restaurant. You can dine indoors or head up to the rooftop open-air seating area, which offers a stunning panoramic view of the town and river, perfect for a relaxed meal with a scenic backdrop.
Rooms are clean, tidy, and well-equipped. The owner is incredibly helpful. We arranged our arrival via Trip.com message chat, and he kindly waited for us at the Furong Railway Station to pick us up.
One thing to note, depending on your preferences, is the presence of bars nearby. There’s live music and a lively atmosphere in the evening, which can be a plus if you enjoy a drink or two with some music. However, if you value peace and quiet, the sound might be noticeable until it winds down around 11 PM. As with most ancient towns these days, nightlife has become part of the experience. Light sleepers may want to bring earplugs or consider booking a room away from the main area.
Overall, a great stay in an unbeatable location. Highly recommended!

The hotel environment possesses a naturally serene aesthetic. Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, complementing the greenery in every corner, and the air carried a subtle, earthy fragrance. The corridors were laid with thick carpets, muffling footsteps, and adorned with elegant ink paintings. Soft, warm lighting cast a gentle glow, making walks through them exceptionally soothing.
Our guest room was clean and cozy. Stepping onto the balcony opened onto the viewing platform – wooden railings framed a lush bamboo grove. Tall, straight bamboo stalks with densely layered leaves swayed and rustled gently in the breeze. Standing there, surrounded by such vibrant greenery, even the air felt crisper. In the evening, the setting sun cast golden patches through the gaps in the leaves, with the shifting light and shadow creating the illusion of a secluded haven. On the fifth floor, there's another viewing platform offering panoramic vistas of Furong Town. Guests can also enjoy complimentary karaoke, singing while admiring the views and dining – we were absolutely thrilled with this experience!
The service was a significant highlight. At check-in, the front desk readily shared tips on the best viewing times for the platforms. The cleaning staff were quiet and respectful while tidying and even discreetly swept fallen leaves from the balcony. SSurajRA beautiful hotel in traditional Chinese style with stunning views of the waterfalls. The staff were exceptional and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a larger room with easier access, perfectly suited for our big suitcases. They also arranged convenient pick-up and drop-off services, provided a detailed map of the area, and highlighted the must-see shows nearby. The free breakfast was authentically Chinese, featuring boiled eggs, steamed buns, noodles, a leaf-wrapped sweet dish, and local tea. Overall, our experience here was wonderful, and we truly enjoyed our stay.
