The room was good, staff friendly, the food in the hotel was bad, there is upstairs and downstairs breakfast wich I hated, all guests should have same breakfast or add money at the beginning to the price of the room.
my expectations were a bit high but I was a bit disappointed.
going to Turkey was a good experience.maybe next time I will go to another region in the same country.

Lovely small hotel in charming area 2 minutes from a bizarre, 5 minutes walk from blue mosque and hop on hop off bus terminal. Bathrooms are tired and neat but clean. Rooms are small but clean and nicely decorated. Kettle in room plus ac. Staff are lovely. Breakfast is lovely varied and delicious outdoor terrace is sheltered and charming. Seaview restaurant is pleasant and not too expensive. Enes made me feel welcome as did the other staff.

Good breakfast , covering a range of dietary needs Rooms tidy and well kept and replenished. Experienced a couple of nights when the party noise from the roof terrace kept us awake until past midnight. Located close to the Asofya complex. If you have heavy baggage not ideal location as the hotel is on the downs lope wrong side from the tram line links.

My wife and I recently returned from a 4 night break in Istanbul, staying at the Avicenna, which was booked as part of a BA package. We were there to celebrate my 60th and sadly our experience spoilt the trip. When we booked, we upgraded to an 'Elegance' room expecting to get the best views and quality of room. How wrong we were! But lets start with the good stuff, to be fair on the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, they clearly had pride in their jobs from the manager to the room cleaners. It is not their fault that the hotel is in a poor state of repair. A special mention for Hamza, who was a ray of sunshine. I say all the staff, but not the waitress at breakfast who always looked unhappy and had a terrible habit of breaking off a bit of pastry from breakfast items and eating them (leaving the rest on the serving plate). The location was excellent, just a short walk from the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia; although this can make it a bit harder to get to as the roads are small and access is constrained. Next door there were 2 excellent restaurants, both of which we tried and the Dubb Ethnic won by a close margin. There was WiFi throughout, which was insecure but of reasonable speed. Breakfast was ok, except for the coffee which was poor quality. It was generally local breakfast items, which we like. Now the bad stuff....you will not doubt expect that the hotel has been very selective in its pictures for their TripAdvisor page. We had an 'Elegance' room that was supposed to have a sea view. Well there was, once one looked past the satellite dishes, the shabby buildings, barbed wire and railway track. We would not have wanted to go onto the balcony anyway as there was no privacy, the floor was splattered with paint and the chairs were not fit to be sat on. The bathroom was tiny and not well maintained. There was a shelf below the mirror, over the sink, that was so low that the tap couldn't be fully switched on in the hot water position (the tap was also incorrectly plumbed). The towels were ok on arrival they were thick and soft, but replaced with thin and old towels after a couple of days. The drains were smelly when we first arrived, but this improved over a couple of days. The room itself was old and poorly maintained, although it was clean. There was a kettle, which we think was new because I had to boil it several times to get rid of the chemical taste that it had when we first used it. The bed was hard but comfortable enough and there was space to hang clothes, but the hanging space was not long enough for a dress, so these were hung on the outside of the wardrobe. There was a safe, although amusingly it wasn't attached to anything so moved around freely in the wardrobe. There was a fridge with drinks that could be purchased, which didn't leave much room if you want to keep your own drinks in there. We didn't complain at the time because we had read how the hotel had decided to charge s

Perfect hotel for a city break in Istanbul. Great location in the middle of the old town and close by to the main sites. Lovely view of the Bosphorus River from our balcony and the staff were very polite and friendly. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable hotel. Rooms are nice and fairly large. Disappointed at not being given the Bosphorous facing rooms as promised, when we stayed there initially for 2 nights and were given the Bosphous facing rooms which were very nice, when we returned for one night. However, the hotel does not have lift to the 1st/2nd floors, making it difficult for senior citizens and people who are physically challenged. They have winding stairs which are hard to negotiate. Very few rooms without tubs, making it difficult for people with disability.

Friendly staff and service - hotel was always clean and welcoming! A relaxing stay for our 4-day trip. The room was comfortable and bright, with excellent views over the river. Would happily stay here again, if given the opportunity. Well done team!
