Belvedere resort, that is what it said when we booked it, was not really what we expected. Don’t expect a resort. Please don’t. The hotel Well, that’s the thing. The reception is at the very nice looking Cliff hotel. Exactly. Belvedere resort has multiple accommodations. A 4-star hotel (Cliff hotel), a 3-star hotel (in separate buildings?) and a 2-star camping. Did not expect that at all. Sure, it is on the website, but really…who reads that. So the reception is at the Cliff hotel, but our accommodation is in one of the ‘villas’ (take the term ‘villa’ lightly, please). Check-in went smoothly and we got the key (which weighs a ton). Parking is possible but can be difficult if it is busy. Location Well, you would need a car to go places. It is a short drive from Izola, which is not a problem. You can walk down the hill to the beach (not a sand beach), although it is a long walk. You can take the car to the beach, paid parking. There is not a lot to do outside the resort unless you go to Izola (or a different city/village). The room The room was located in one of the villas. The last one, Loret. Little bit out of date/style, but who cares. The room was quite spacious and had a French balcony (we thought we had a normal balcony, well…surprise. There are rooms with a normal balcony, so pay attention if you make a reservation). We had sea view (yeah!). The room was okay. Beds were firm (I prefer that), extra pillow was available, there was a small desk and a comfy chair. Television. WiFi was acceptable (ask the password at the reception), stable enough. The airconditioning…it smelled, made noise, but it did not blow cold air. And be honest, the only thing an airconditioning needs to do is blow cold air. We mentioned it to the reception, and I suppose someone had a look at it, but it made no difference (in my humble opinion, the airconditioning is beyond repair). The airconditioning is ancient, not capable of its job anymore and needs to be replaced. Or something. Horrible. It was at least 28 degrees Celsius in our room. Or warmer. The room had a small fridge, which was nice (and cold-ish). Enough space for clothes and things. There were no real curtains (yep, the curtains were only for show. Do people really have show curtains?), but there are shutters. You can hear every door closing in the building, every step on the stairs. And there is a lot of noise. The room was clean, fresh towels daily (if you want), fresh bedding every fourth/fifth (or something) of your stay. The bathroom. The bathroom was everything that you do not expect at a hotel. And many reviews have mentioned this, so we should have been warned. Everything was old. Like really old. We had to shower in the bath, no glass or curtain (result: indoor swimming pool, and not the one you want to have). Everything was wet. You had to hold the shower head, there was no possibility of hanging it somewhere. Really? It is 2022 people, this is not okay! Showering in a bathtub is
