Luxury hotel prices; 2-star hotel experience.
WARNING: Book through Trip.com and you cannot use the hotel pool. At least that's what they told us when we checked in.
Bottom line, this hotel provides a decent stay, but it's way overpriced and is valued at a third of the price we paid.
Let's start with the positives: the beds are comfortable, the staff was cheerful as they denied our every request, and the property is clean. But for what you pay, I would expect more amenities and more space, and I wouldn't expect a shower/tub, especially one that doesn't even have a closing door or curtain to avoid spraying water all over the bathroom. I also would expect decent toilet paper rather than the cheapest one-ply available. It's unfortunate that the excellent blackout curtains were foiled by being improperly installed too far away from the window so as to let in abundant morning light around the curtain (but not through it).
To make a morning cup of coffee, I rummaged through the cabinets to find the hot water pot placed inside of a drawer, then hunted around the room to find an outlet that would accept the plug. I just had to warn everyone that the hot water pot was on the floor between the bathroom door and the bed so they wouldn't accidentally kick it over and scald themselves, but that was a simple solution. Using the paper cups (paper cups?!?) provided, I ended up using two coffee bags, but even then, the coffee barely registered a coffee taste.
In the morning on the way out, we asked for a couple of bottles of water. The staff was pretty opposed to the idea, but they eventually relented and parted with two measly bottles of water. At the end of the day, I was afraid to bring in outside trash to deposit in our room for fear of getting charged extra for that. So far as I know, they did not quibble with a little extra trash to dispose of, for which I'm grateful.
All told, I would happily book this hotel at a third of the price I did. Any more than that, and I guess I feel entitled to better toilet paper, a proper shower, and enough space that I don't bang my legs on a table just trying to get in and out of bed.
