We recently did a three week road trip of the South Island, our first since we retired. We ended up staying at The Fairways twice, once at the beginning of our holiday and once for the last couple of days. Stay # 1: We stayed in Kaikoura for three nights. We’d booked a studio unit at The Fairways, after doing some research online. Booking online was very easy and quick. When we checked in on arrival, our host Deka suggested we may like a one bedroom apar**ent, to give us more room for the three nights. She showed us the two styles, and told us the price for the upgrade. It was a bit more money but we decided to go with it. We are very glad that we did. The apar**ent (number 8) was so roomy, and beautifully appointed. A large dining table, a lovely lounge area, a fully functioning kitchen with a large island, a large bedroom with a VERY comfortable king sized bed, and a lovely big bathroom. The kitchen had a full size fridge/freezer, and a gas hob and oven. There is also a washing machine and a dryer in an alcove in the kitchen, which we used both visits – very handy. A sachet of laundry detergent is provided too. Wifi was good. There were lots of trees around the apar**ent, which meant lots of birdlife. There was a bbq and a large outside table/chairs by the entranceway. All in all a very very nice place to stay. It feels like you are in the middle of a forest, the way the apar**ents have been designed. Parking was three steps (maybe four or five, but very close) away from the door in the parking area in the courtyard. The parks are all numbered which is great as there’s no doubt as to who is to park where. Stay #2 We slowly worked our way up the east coast of the South Island for the last five days of our holiday. We loved the Fairways so much that we stayed another two nights on our way to Picton. Deka gave us a very friendly welcome back, and we stayed in the one bedroom apar**ent again, number 8 again. It felt like we were coming home! We would most definitely stay here again if we’re in Kaikoura, and highly recommend the accommodation. It is very quiet, we didn’t hear others at the complex at all. Thank you very much Deka and Fairways for two wonderful stays.

Perfect for overnight stay in bedside. Comfortable king sized bed. Good shower with washing supplies Tea and coffee supplied, with toaster and refrigerator for use in unit. Just out of town center. Very quiet area as part of golf course area. Free Parking avaliable.Would stay again if in the area. Staff helpful. If you require a meal, you would need to drive back into town.

Had an excellent stay at Fairways, Kaikoura. The 1 bed apar**ent was cosy, comfortable and absolutely loved using the laundry and spacious cooking facilities. And there was a spa bath to enjoy after a long day. It's a short drive to Kaikoura town and popped in a few times easily for tours and beach walks. A wonderful stay!

Stayed in a studio apar**ent for one night while exploring Kaikoura. I interacted with one staff member at the reception and she was very friendly. The check-in process was easy. The complex is very nice, appears to be newer or well maintained, etc. There is limited parking directly in front of the unit, but plenty of parking on site. The studio is pretty simple: Bed, two small end tables, desk with two chairs, free wifi, kettle, coffee, tea, microwave, mini fridge, milk, etc. The room was nicely decorated although it is on the smaller side compared to other studios I’ve stayed in. The bathroom has a standing shower, small sink, and hairdryer. I’m definitely not a fan of the lighting – it’s very dark in the room after the sun goes down – even with all lights on. The location is a short distance from the city centre, although you’d likely want/need to drive - I would not consider the complex to be walkable since there aren't any restaurants or shops close by.

Unusual little location. These were apar**ents - the one we booked was a single. Clean and well appointed with cups, plates, silverware. TV, iron, kettle, etc. Small compared to some others we stayed but for one night it was perfect. A little ways outside town so had to drive 5 mins for food, but there was a perfect little patio table and chairs right outside our door so we could sit and eat. Very friendly host that greeted us on arrival, even though we in theory arrived after office hours.
