Angelina Guest House

For many years the Angelina guest house has been my go-to while staying in Key West. It was a hidden Oasis footsteps away from the Lively nightlife of Duval. Famous for their cinnamon buns and hospitality we've always enjoyed our stays at the Angelina. During our last day in the fall of 2021 we would always leave a deposit for our next stay the following year. We were made aware that the hotel was being sold but the new owners would honor the reservations. Early this summer I found the hotel had a renovation so I went online to check to see how the hotel changed. From what I could see online I could not see any upgrades at the hotel. I went to see if the pricing per night changed and to my surprise I found my room was available for my dates that I had reserved, however the price had more than tripled. Unable to find a phone number for the Angelina I contacted the Naya as they are owned by the same parent company SMS lodgings. I was informed that all prior reservations were canceled. I thought this was odd as I never received a notification nor did I receive a refund for my deposit. I contacted a few people that regularly stayed during the same time as I visit and I found out that they were told that the hotel would not be open in the fall because it was under renovation. It seems that the Angelina may have used the guys of renovation to cancel reservations in order to receive upwards of triple the rate that was guaranteed in 2021. I have sent multiple emails to the Angelina to SMS lodgings and left a message with the manager of the Naya to have the manager of the Angelina contact me and I'm yet to get a response. I have not been issue a refund for my deposit and now much higher price. I know of five other people who had their reservations canceled unethically

This hotel is PERFECTLY situated for walking around old town Key West. Do not bother to bring a car! We got the Belle suite, which has a private bathroom and entrance, and it was a wonderful home base for our trip to Key West. Definitely a superior experience to the generic resorts on the far outskirts of town!

We stayed here for 4 nights. It is in a good location making getting around very easy. The property is nice. It’s a house converted into guest rooms. You have many options from sharing a bathroom to a private bath. We had a very nice room and would book to stay in that room again when we come back. It had a small sitting area and the bathroom had a separate door leading right out to the pool. The pool area was nice. It’s a bit too shaded for my liking but it was very quiet and peaceful. Lots of palm trees. They have lounge chairs and pool towels. There was a breakfast every day. Nothing special but we enjoyed it. There are bikes to rent which made it very nice being able to get around the entire time using them. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom was a little dated but again it was clean and we had no issues. We heard they are going to renovate the house but personally we didn’t find anything wrong with it. It had character and charm and we really hope to be back again.

Booked a quick one night stay in March for my wife’s birthday. We have stayed many a night at the Angelina over the last 20 years as it was such a quaint place to stay. Our stay was just okay and for the money probably not worth it. Sad to say its just not the same from a personal touch and welcome standpoint since Kevin and Janet have sold and moved on. Probably our last stay at the Angelina.

Booked a room back in March 2021 for January 2022. Informed in December 2021 that our reservation was being cancelled due to sale of property and planned renovation of rooms. This was a sham. When we arrived in Key West during our planned week, after rebooking at another hotel at a much higher rate, we discovered that the Angelina was in fact open and fully occupied by renters. We recognize that cancellations are sometimes necessary due to acts of God or other unforeseen circumstances. We did not realize, however, that owner greed qualified as such a circumstance. Seeking to clarify the situation, I requested owner contact information from the Angelina concierge and was totally rebuffed. We then filed an inquiry with the Key West Inkeepers' Association and were informed that the new owners of the Angelina, as of January 2022, were not members of the Association and therefore not bound by its hospitality and ethical standards. Lesson learned: money talks, greed walks, and folks looking to the Angelina for a rental need to be very, very careful about their arrangements.

We were happy to book a room at Angelina guest house a year in advance so we could get premium rooms. With a little over a month until we were to arrive, we were told they were going to renovate and would shut down and canceled our reservation. Of course at this late time, all places to stay were already booked or priced at over double the cost. We finally found a place that was much more expensive and not nearly as nice, but with non refundable plane tickets, what could we do? Angelina guest house really ruined our vacation.

Just finished a four-night stay at The Angelina. The new ownership said they will be closing mid-January for renovations, but our stay in December was lovely. LOCATION: Two blocks west of Duval street. Close enough to be easy 15 min. or less walk to almost everything, far enough to not have to deal with bar noise. SPACE: Rooms were small but clean and simple. We paid for a King room with en suite bath. Most rooms had exterior entrances from a balcony or street level, meaning it was easy to socially distance (no crowded lobby). A little bit of peeling paint & dripping faucets shows why they are renovating, but the issues were minor and cosmetic. AMENITIES: Back yard was quiet and inviting with pool and hammock. Small but decent breakfast. Second-floor balcony for every room means easy entry even late at night. Fridge & microwave in room, but no TV (a good thing for us). On-site bike rentals for $15/day. Pro Tip: Close the hurricane shutters on your room to muffle the airplane noise and ever-present roosters that run amok in Key West. OVERALL: Great location, good price. Will happily stay there again as long as the new owners don't raise the price too much after renovating!

My husband and I booked on line What a shock when we saw the property Totally misrepresented My husband spoke to the inn keeper, explained our disappointment. We left the next morning ( prepaid for 6 days ) They say we are getting a refund. But let’s see We accidentally left a pair of shoes let’s see if they return our call or return our call/ email.
