Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks/Kitty Hawk

employee very rude,started by saying “ so ladies what your room number” while in the bathroom, got close to us and said “ we don’t want you at my high dollar hotel “ proceeded to accused us of being associated with two kids that she said, got arrested a few days prior, which was a total lie. She acted very unprofessional and disrespectful.

Somewhat basic but reasonably comfortable room and beds, and reasonably priced for this area (taking the off season into consideration). Most of the staff is very nice, although I did see one person not take friendly feedback from another customer too nicely. Excellent location especially right by the causeway and is right by Kitty Hawk Pier if you want to fish, and of course right in the beach. Hotel has a decent restaurant and bar and outdoor pool. A number of other reviewers mentioned the renovation work in the lobby but that seems to be mostly done now, and the hotel looks quite updated although slightly cheap quality materials. If we return to the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Second time coming here and it won't be our last. You just can't beat the location for the price. It is location, location, location We were positively surprised by the recent remodel of the lobby area, restaurant and rooms. Staff is always friendly and we enjoyed all our breakfast items. Big shout out to Tim at the restaurant who was so attentive and friendly. We booked side view room again and we were able to enjoy ocean view from The balcony. Room was quiet and clean. A few remodel hiccups that need to be ironed out like the toilette paper roll holder does not hold the roll. Water pressure for the shower was very weak at the 4th floor. Some common areas were still worked on but didn't interfere with our stay. Fully enjoyed our stay again and keep recommending the place to friends.

We were told the hotel was undergoing a "facelift," and yes, things were looking shiny and smelled like new construction/paint and of course you could "hear" the construction as well i.e., concrete being drilled around the pool below our room, hammering near the lobby, drop cloths and plastic covers in the public areas. When we arrived, there was no one to help with bags, instead we were told where the carts were. We were handed a bag with two bottles of water. This was our check-in greeting. But, the problem for me - and it was a very big one, was the amazing lack of attention to detail - things like an iron in the room that didn't work, no fan in the bathroom, showers with inconsistent water pressure that at best "trickle" water, an empty gel soap dispenser, a toilet paper holder that wouldn't "hold" the toilet paper, one set of towels in a room booked for two, an air conditioner that was so noisy, we had to turn it off. A "fitness center" with two treadmill's and one didn't work. We were awakened at 11:30 one evening by a fire alarm, were herded with the rest of the guests outside for an hour. My husband and I returned to our rooms, fell asleep only to be awakened by the room alarm clock at 3 a.m., apparently set by the former guest in our room. The restaurant in the hotel is not even a consideration. "Toast" was bread, warmed under a light, eggs from a carton. Coffee - if you like coffee is less than marginal. I'm sure I sound more than" entitled" by this point, but our rooms were over $350 per night, and this price, we were told, was the discounted rate for rooms set aside for a wedding! Our room, the (lack of) service, this experience is comparable to $79 a night at a Ramada. I am sorry I didn't choose an Airbnb, where prices are more reasonable, equally scenic, and perhaps more personal in their attention to detail. With all the chaos in the country at present, all we wanted was a quiet, pleasant stay in the Outer Banks, a place we had never been to before. This was an expensive disappointment. I cannot hold the people who work day-to-day in this hotel responsible - they're just doing their jobs. I do hold the managers, the executives, the people in charge responsible. It is they who leave their employees at the mercy of dissatisfied customers like us.

Beautiful hotel, going under a few renovation’s but it did not affect our stay.. we were only there one night passing through, but our room was spectacular with a balcony and a view of the ocean! I’m quite sure I wouldn’t be able to afford it in season, but the experience was very nice. Short drive to a few spots to eat. Visited the Wright brothers museum, worth a look for sure.

Nice rooms, but the hotel is under renovation and had limited facilities, no restaurant or bar and a makeshift reception. I wish I was informed about this when I booked the room. Good thing was that they had a food takeaway and a Bonefish next door.

Hotel was outdated and in poor condition. We are Hilton Diamond members and stay at Hilton regularly. This hotel was below par. In our room there were multiple water/mold stains on ceiling, large rust stains on ac unit, rust and mold in bathroom, chipped paint, and visible stains on bedding and window treatments. Sheets were rough and not Hilton quality. We also found a spider on our sheets and 2 small spiders in the corners near the ceiling. The walkway to our room was narrow and there was a twin bed and mattress trundle outside our door for the entire 3 days we were there. Between the toilet running and dog barking (next door) all night you could hear bits of the ocean waves in our room which was nice. Beach access was great. You could rent 2 chairs and an umbrella for $50 a day. The ocean was clear and there were lots of seashells. They also had beach towels to use at pool and on beach. Aviator Restaurant was convenient and wait staff was friendly, especially Pat. Food was edible. Very disappointed for the price.

We stayed in Kitty Hawk to explore the Outer Banks. Traffic is always heavy, so it takes awhile to drive anywhere, but this was a good base for us. We enjoyed the beach front location. There are showers for rinsing off after a day on the sand, and the pool is right off the beach. We enjoyed walking on the sand after sunset to find crabs. They are very active after dark, and that was a fun way to end the day. Walgreens is right across the street, and we walked there several times. The room was very clean. The beds and pillows could have been more comfortable, especially since this is a very expensive hotel in summer. We requested housekeeping every day at check in, but our room didn't get serviced on two of our days there. It seemed like they have some kinks to work out in that department. When they cleaned the room, it was very tidy and they even vacuumed. Breakfast was order off the menu, and the wait staff had a hard time keeping up with the number of guests at breakfast. It seemed like they needed more help in the kitchen. The complimentary coffee in the lobby was a great touch and the pantry had good snacks. The view from the room was great, and wet could hear the waves from our balcony.

Don't fall for the "Side ocean view room" scam. It is a courtyard view, and if you lean out the balcony rail, you can see the ocean. It is not visible from the room unless you press your face up against the glass. They charged me extra too! Don't fall for it!
