Knysna River Club by First Private Stays

Tucked away just a 5-minute drive from the heart of Knysna, Kyndar River Club offers a tranquil escape with easy access to the charming towns of Plettenberg Bay and Sedgefield. The clean and spacious cottages are ideal for a relaxing family getaway. There’s a small pool in the middle of the property where you can take a quick dip, a game room with a ping pong table and billiards, and a mini golf / putt putt course. There’s also riverfront access with a jetty for fishing and access to a boardwalk that will lead you to Thesen Island. Knysna River Club is the perfect for a family getaway. The only thing to note is the WiFi can be very spotty at times.

Four for value. We booked a lagoon view and it was a lovely view. Our unit was large and light, perfectly clean, lovely new kitchen and bathroom, great shower. Nice patio with BBQ overlooking the lagoon. For the price it was a bargain. Couple of downers, we couldn't get the bedside lights working for reading and there were 2 TVs, lounge and bedroom but we couldn't get either working. Maybe because the internet was so slow... We seemed to only have connection for 1 device at a time. Also blackout drapes in the bedroom would be good as there seemed to be a lot of light from outside all night long. Would stay here again, right on the water.

This was my second stay at Knysna River Club at the lagoon chalet. Unfortunately this trip was let down by the service, which was impeccable the first time. We arrived at 2pm, which is stated check in time, and were told that the chalet wasn’t ready yet and still being cleaned. I asked if we could at least unpack the cold items we had into the fridge, and although this was communicated to the cleaning staff, we still had to wait about half an hour to do so. We sat outside on the veranda for at least an hour before we could check in. The second day we received a call to ask if we’d like the chalet cleaned, which we accepted. Day 3 nobody called or came around, so after midday I went to the office and was given the rather abrupt excuse that “we have had a lot of check outs today” and that they’d be along later. The lady eventually came to clean around 2pm. Day 4 we watered until nearly 3:30pm in the afternoon with the same excuse when I called the office. That day the lady cleaned closer to 4:30pm. This is not acceptable service to your clients that are still staying at the resort, and the management should be hiring additional staff to meet seasonal demand. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is nothing available in terms of little lamps during loadshedding or the special light bulbs that you can buy that run during these times. Loadshedding has been going on for years, there’s no excuse for not making provision for this. Other than that, these are beautiful chalets right on the riverfront and so peaceful. It was truly disappointing that this second experience was let down by something as simple as service.

We enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed in an upstairs-apartment with a nice view. The staff at the reception even helped us to get the goods back which we forgot at the resort, by making the parcel ready for the Courier Guy to pick up.

A definate must visit. The entire unit is stunning - from the lounge, kitchen, bathroom to bedroom. Big comfortable bed, you can bath or shower. Kitchen is well equiped. Braai facility on stoep with outside furniture. Parking next to unit. Swimming pool and games room on property and shops are very close.

Lake view way better and more private. The garden view is not really garden view, no garden. It felt a bit cramp, facilities advertised was not available at required times ie. No boat ride available, jacuzzi unavailable from 6pm (we preferred jacuzzi at night), jacuzzi not included in price and not private from other guests. The unit is beautiful but we found blinds and corners with dust mites and spider webs. The game room had mattresses standing around. Guest in chalet opposite could look straight into your room.
