Komandoo Island Resort & Spa

Komandoo is a little paradise, not posh and this is what we like so much. The villas remain in style with a lot of wood and not the luxury upgrade you find everywhere in the world in the same way. We just love the place and the fantastic staff, never seen such a friendliness and kindness. The house reef is great, the dive center amazing and the food.... WOW! They do everything to make your time on Komandoo unforgettable.... We come back for sure. And we adore the quietness and privacy with no shouting kids, adults only….

We had a stunning time on a wonderfully peaceful island. The water bungalow was such a memorable experience. The service was excellent and every member of staff so friendly and helpful. The food was top quality and there was a good variety. We couldn’t fault a single thing.

We returned for the 4th time to the place we call our Happy Place. It's the only place we've ever been to more than twice! Everything from the warm welcome to the waving goodbye revolves around making your stay as perfect as possible. It has been said by many reviews (because it is true!) that it is the Champions that make Komandoo what it is. There are so many resorts in the Maldives to choose from that there needs to be a differentiator/USP to make one successful, and at Komandoo that is the Champions. They are the reason the percentage of returning guests is so high. Yes the rooms are very comfortable, and the snorkelling on the reef excellent, but all this means nothing if the staff aren't friendly. No worries at Komandoo. Everyone wants you to enjoy yourself to the max and will go out of their way to make sure you do. So much so that they have an inate ability to remember your room number, and preferred drinks, within minutes of your first interaction, making you feel even more welcomed. The buffet food is very good with themed nights, and the Aqua restaurant gives a more intimate venue. Different to many restaurants, there are no stations that waiters manage, you are assigned a waiter when you first go into Falhu restaurant, and that waiter is with you for the duration of your stay. Doesn't matter where you sit in the buffet restaurant, whether you order a special dinner (beach, jungle etc) or order room service, your waiter will sort it for you. You really start to appreciate the extra steps that are taken. We had Haneef as our waiter and couldn't have asked for more. The service was great, he served us when we had a jungle dinner, and was always welcoming and willing to have a laugh with you. The two bars are just as welcoming, the Thundi bar at one end of the island, on the beach and the main Kandu bar up by the pool and buffet restaurant. The staff always ensuring you have anything you need and remembering your drinks from your previous time. Thanks go to Vipan and Biji for looking after us most, especially at Thundi bar, where you get a bit more of a breeze to cool you down and can watch the sunsets. The reef around the island is great for snorkelling, with a shallow lagoon, but most of the more interesting life is found just outside the lagoon at the drop-off. That's not to say there isn't anything in the lagoon... you can always find the resident herons walking round the shoreline and in the morning and late afternoon, watch the small black tipped sharks chasing the shoals of small fish right up on the shoreline. In summary, if you want a relaxed, quiet holiday in paradise, choose Komandoo. Only 65 villas means you never feel crowded and the majority of villas on the beach are secluded by plenty of greenery. There may not be loads of motorised watersports, or any golf courses, nightclubs etc, but that is the whole reason we love it so much, it is just so relaxing.

Returned after a gap of 9 years - 5th visit in total. Realise why we returned, truly is Paradise, everything about the island is top quality! Our island host Ahsham went the extra mile on a few teething issues, the Champions as a team offered first class service, always smiling and happy to assist! We visited the Spa twice and had two wonderful treatments, so relaxing! The all inclusive plan is wonderful quality, the in villa fridge was topped up each day although we didn’t really make any impact on it as the various restaurants and bars were more than enough for us! Then there’s the 1st class snorkelling, truly an amazing experience! We’ve been to several islands but Komandoo comes top of the league It goes without saying that we’ll be back!

We are leaving in few days, I thought I would take the time out to write this review. Komandoo truly is paradise on earth. During our 8th visit we are still left completely in awe of its breathtaking, magical views. No matter how many times we return, this island continues to capture our hearts with its beauty, serenity, and warmth. Every visit feels like the first time, and the commitment to excellence from the champions makes it even more special. The champions at Komandoo go above and beyond to make every moment unforgettable. Nothing is ever too much for them, they are always eager to make sure every need is met with a smile. The selection of food is, as always, outstanding, with a diverse range of flavors and dishes that are beautifully presented and delicious. A special shoutout to some of the incredible staff members who made our stay extraordinary: * Kitchen: Alex, Chandana, Rajat, Anil, Sabuj, Azad, Mahesh, Ranjit and Naren all of you crafted meals that were pure culinary masterpieces. * Waiters: Haneef, Riza, Jumaan, Kaleem, Dickshana & Zhoona you made every dining experience feel personal and memorable with your impeccable service and warmth. * Roomboy: Ahmed AR thank you for keeping our villa spotless and always greeting us with such kindness. * Bar: Sanwar, Asitha, Suraj, and Ibrahim every mocktail and drink was perfection. * Reception: Adhil, Madah, Bishaan, Shimal, Niru & Mohamed thank you for making sure everything was to perfection. * Big thank you to all the champions who we may have missed & to everyone who work behind the scenes. I visited the Duniye Spa few times, every massage session felt like pure luxury. The therapists were skilled, attentive, and tailored the treatment perfectly to my needs. Whether it was deep tissue or a soothing relaxation massage, every session was a perfect blend of technique and care. I left each time feeling completely rejuvenated, with all the stress and tension melted away. Everyday we went snorkelling and seen turtles, sting rays, reef sharks and lots of amazing sea life. There is alot to see! Komandoo isn’t just a resort, it’s a place where you feel at home, surrounded by beauty and cared for by incredible people. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

From the greeting to the goodbye, every single second was amazing. Komandoo is a place to feel special, to feel looked after and to feel relaxed! I cannot rate the wonderful staff highly enough and special mentions go to Adil with his wit and charm ever-present throughout our stay and to Dickshan, Auman and Youssef who always looked after us well at every mealtime. All 4 of these lovely people are diamonds, the absolute definition of hospitality. I realise I have only mentioned 4 names, but if I could list everyone from cleaning team, grounds, hospitality (reception, bar, restaurant) catering, and facilities, I would! Everyone on Komandoo is absolutely dedicated to make your stay memorable and outstanding. Our room (Jacuzzi Beach Villa) was wonderful too, well stocked, well presented, super clean, smelled so lovely with the oil burner and the outdoor bathroom was awesome! Again, very well resourced out there too. The groundskeepers work very hard too, not only to maintain the beautiful island but also to fulfill their eco-pledge. The sunset cruise was a nice add-on, included in our all inclusive package and so was one meal (for a 5 night stay) at Aqua, the island’s a la carte restaurant…simply stunning! We loved not wearing shoes, bare feet is the way to go on Komandoo…go there, escape your worries and completely unwind, enjoy amazing food and drink, and gaze at the Indian Ocean in the warm evening breeze. Enjoy the wonderful wildlife that call Komandoo their home. We saw lovely birds, crabs, fascinating hermits, lizards and a gorgeous chameleon as well as the reef wildlife when snorkelling.
