We had the most amazing, authentic safari experience in Masai Mara staying at Julia’s River Camp. We stayed in the VIP Camp for 4 days and their service was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and attentive to our needs. The tent/room was clean and was newly renovated (just middle of this year, I heard). It is right in front of the river so it has the best view, especially during sunrise. I already miss the sound of the hippos in the morning. The game drives were excellent. It exceeded my expectation, thanks to our very experienced driver. The only down side is the food. Sometimes the chef’s cooking is bland, sometimes too salty, but I appreciate that they try to mix their menu with different dishes per meal for variety. Overall, Julia’s River Camp offered great value accommodations for the budget-friendly fees they charged. If you want better dining experience and fancy camp facilities, then choose the more luxury camp options. But if you’re looking for an affordable yet comfortable glamping experience, I’d say Julia’s (at least for their VIP Camp section) is a great choice.

A Camp with personal touch. All the staff are very genuine, warm and kind. I misses them so much. No mosquitoes but hippos are just down the river beside the camp. Food is good, service excellent. Throughout the night, the guards are patrolling the site outside our camp as I saw light’s rays ( from their torch ) every now and then in our tent. Special thanks to Kelvin who escorted us in the nights. Bravo to all the staffs who work there.

Wonderful experience with exceptional personnel who genuinely care for one's every need to ensure 100% enjoyment throughout the visit. Beautifully located inside Masai Mara on the banks of the Talek River with each tent and restaurant overlooking its view. The food is excellent with each delicious dish professionally presented and served this makes for an anticipated enthusiasm for the next meal! Then following a long and highly fulfilling day one falls asleep on the comfortable bed to the valuable bush sounds of hippos snorting and splashing feet away hyenas 'singing' close by and lions roaring regularly. In the morning the same acts as your alarm call! Mark the manager has a true concern for his guests and each small detail is attended to thoughtfully and successfully. I achieved super superb sightings during my 4 nights (wish it were 14) on this unexpectedly amazing first visit to Julia's River Camp although it was my 8th visit to the Mara. The professionalism and consideration cannot be overstated and I have no hesitation in recommending and hopefully return.

What an exceptional place to stay at Masaii Mara. An incredible, beautiful setting on the Taleki River inside Masaii Mara. Hippos and hyenas to serenade you. Masaii warriors to escort you to your luxurious comfortable tented suites. The food is amazing. All of the staff are brilliant. Diana is an excellent cook. She made the best pan fried fish. Everything was yummy. Gideon the Julia’s camp manager is super attentive and always welcoming. Even had laundry done and they did amazing. Love this place.

We stayed at some 'luxury' hotels on our African trip but this was the best 3 nights we had while traveling in Kenya. The staff were friendly and cater to your every need and the food was outstanding. The best part was listening to the sounds of Africa as we slept--lions at a distance and hippos in the river. The whole experience was absolutely perfect! Thanks, Julia's!!!

WOW. wow...wow. We absolutely loved our experience at Julia's River Camp. It was the perfect balance of being incredibly well cared for without the "glamour" and price tag of some of the other camps. The camp sits on the Talek River, unfenced, so there's loads to see right from camp...hippos bathing, crocs sunning themselves, birds galore.... Our accommodation was a large, very comfortable platform tent with it's own bath...nice linens, clean and cozy with nightly turn down and mosquito netting service from our wonderful steward, Duncan. What really made Julias and unforgettable and awesome experience were the folks that worked there... our fabulous guide, Leo, camp manager Mark, James, Rhonda, Duncan, "Uncle" and all of our wonderful "askaris" and support folks. We miss them all and will never forget their kindness and great service! xxx A whooper big shout out to our incredible guide, Leo... so knowledgable, so kind, such an awesome person... we are so grateful and feel so lucky to have you in our life! THANK YOU!

Julias River camp is amazing! The staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was also amazing, breakfast was very filling before the safaris, the packed lunches were lovely and the dinner was delicious! The wildlife was outstanding, as we were in tent 10 by the river, during the night a buffalo passed our tent and left tracks in the morning, we also saw 2 hippos quite regularly on our stay which was amazing. Joseph and Brian were very nice! I really reccomend this camp!

The camp was relaxing. They do a wonderful job keeping the tents clean and insect free! They also made sure my food was gluten free! The staff was very kind and welcoming and I highly recommend to anyone traveling with children. Very family friendly and kid friendly too.

This is a tented camp. The size of the tents are smaller than most camp but comfortable. The food service was pathetic. They have buffet service but the food served is not even sufficient for 30% of the residents. The rest of the guest were left with the crumbs. We were a family of 6 adults and for breakfast we were served a total of 2 slice of bread (cut in half) 6 spoons of Baked beans and 4 sausages. So we had to figure out how do we distribute this amongst us. We contacted our Tour agency who then sorted out the food issue and then sufficient quantity of meals were served. The quality of meals also improved. I am giving the 1 star rating because the Camp played around the quantity and quality for the first 3 meals and only after the intervention did they improve.
