The hotel is clean and nicely designed. The service was also great, staff were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful hotel - we stayed 5 nites. Accessible to town and to Kyoto stations. Bus 5 takes u to karasuma (shopping belt) and Gion. On shijo station (Kinsetsu line). Visits to all the sites are extremely easy.

Loved everything about this hotel, from the room, breakfast and location. We will love to come back again. This is the perfect hotel to visit Kyoto. Great location, great staff and loved the breakfast.

My stay at the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel was excellent. The hotel’s location is ideal, with a short walk to the subway station and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, making it convenient to explore Kyoto. The room design is simple but very comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, with very comfortable bedding. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering useful travel tips that made my stay even more enjoyable. Additionally, the hotel lobby has elegant decor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Overall, this is a hotel that balances convenience and comfort, and I’d consider staying here again on my next trip to Kyoto.

I love this hotel. Very recommended! Typically small room in japan. Same like a pict. But its enough for 2 of us to open the luggage. Room very clean. Perfect location, near bus station.

There were a number of restos and convenient stores nearby.

Able to store your luggage before check-in and the day of check-out. The people at the hotel counter were very friendly and explained things well. Surprisingly the shampoo, conditioner and body wash were from POLA (not sure if this is normal in Japan for a 2-star hotel). Hotel is located very close to Shijo and Karasuma station and is walking distance to Nishiki market and department stores like Daimaru.

Nice hotel. Close to a very nice craft beer bar (on the same street) and many good restaurants. Would stay here again.

Bad customer service. Firstly tried to ask if it was possible to check in slightly earlier as my father was not feeling well - got told that it would be a 2,800 yen charge to check in an hour earlier. Used their washing machine to dry my clothes three times but clothes were still wet. When I notified reception, instead of being understanding or trying to help they insisted that there was nothing they can do and that all the machines are like this and “dry” to this level which is false as I’ve stayed at other hotels with the same washing machine and they work fine they just don’t want to take responsibility. The dismissiveness of the staff really dampened the stay. Not recommended.

Stayed for 2 nights and only wished the room was a bit bigger. There is family mart a block away and it was helpful to us. Surprisingly, the bathroom soap and shampoo smelled amazing. They have a washing and dryer for combo of 500Y and it was great service for us. We actually borrowed their umbrella and broke it cus of the wind, so we bought one to return it but they kindly declined it.

Customer service was nice and Kind but bit small place to stay, and pretty far away from the main street. If you have time and wanna come to Tokyo, you can take your time then good to be looked around the Kyoto vibe.
