Amazing service, very clean and relaxing. Perfectly location, only a 10 minute walk to the Nishiki market. They are very accommodating and the tea ceremony was beautiful. The public bath is a must. I went at 23:00 and I was the only one there. It was a prefect reset.

For the second time in the past 6 months we have stayed here and were again extremely happy with our stay. Rooms are not very large but very functional and cosy with charming Japanese design. The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful. They offer western and Japanese breakfast (try it!) and have some events in their common room. There is an in-house Onsen and the neighborhood is quiet but offers many dining possibilities. Walking distance from the center and the more busy restaurant and bar area.

The service and the activities are really, really great. On the first evening we had a special concert on the koto, a traditional Japanese instrument. This is how strong the culture of this land is displayed by this guest house. The Japanese breakfast was very good. A lot of little and tasty dishes, completely different than the typical western breakfast, so guests are able to try traditional cuisine here. Although we were a bit afraid to show wrong behavior because of the strict rules of traditional Japanese manners, we lost this fear pretty quick, because the employees were so friendly and kind. Also very clean. 10/10 would recommend.

i absolutely loved this hotel! everything was amazing and the staff was great. i loved my room it was so nice. i had a great time making origami with satsuki minato. the japanese breakfast was also delicious! great location and amazing vibes

Super experience! Make sure you have time to experience the Roykan anf their different offers. Its not only a place to sleep. Would love to come back someday. It was also near the shopping, and restaurant area.

Would like to come back to this friendly, familyrun Ryokan. We stayed 3 nights in very lovely Luxury Twin-Bedded Rooms, which were recently renovated in a tasteful and beautiful way. The japanese breakfast was delicious and varied. Nice bath and a beautiful garden.

Loved this ryokan. We wanted a traditional experience and were very happy. The futons were very comfortable; the amount of space was generous - four of us stayed in comfort. The "public bath" (separate for men and women) was great (good shower/bathtub in the bathroom as well); the morning tea ceremony and afternoon calligraphy session were enjoyable; the small balcony had a sweet Japanese garden, and a clever combination of screens and curtains made it possible to shut out the "city" view and still see the garden and have good light. Everything was supported - good toiletries, yukata and slippers for the bath, tea, fridge with beverages, a map of the local area and good recommendations.
The owners and staff were helpful and wonderful. My daughter's boyfriend proposed at Ginkakuji the second day we were there and they were so delighted - staff took pictures of the two of them in the courtyard garden and created a memory book they gave to my daughter with a special gift.
