Just stayed 2 nights in a club twin and a club king room. First the positives - 1. The rooms - for a oldish hotel and a round one at that, the room was outstanding - it was spacious and i don't mean spacious by Japanese standards but really by any international one. The rooms looked pristine - i don't know if they did some renovations during covid but it did not look in the least worn. The bathtub was great and the room looked out to some nice greenery and trees. The sheets was really nicely made - taut and smooth just as it should be and the bed comfy. Adequate outlets. 2. The lounge is a nice respite with it's nice vantage looking out to a nice pond and garden. The staff were very friendly and explained about the macha tea. Dinner choice was reasonable with about 5 choices of food and plenty on alcohol to choose from. 3. Just opposite hotel is the conference centre (which is why i stayed at Prince) and the subway. 4. The area surrounding is green and peaceful and lush. One of my colleagues even saw a deer at night near the hotel. Now the not so good. 1. It's not near any shopping or restaurants (unless you count the cafe in the conference centre). There is a McDonalds about 8 minutes walk away (if you walk a bit briskly) and a Daiso about 15-20 minutes walk. Some other small restaurants within 10 minutes walk. 2. The hotel restaurants - they are not exactly family friendly in their fare. Set meals more for formal dining. Given the paucity of very nearby restaurants, the hotel could consider increasing the repertoire of simple kid friendly food. Strange how none of the restaurants offer this but some choices available from room service i.e. spaghetti. My daughter ended up with room service and me trekking to Mcdonalds to supplement her meal choice. I had trouble with Uber Eats or that's an option too. 2. Breakfast is a bit forgettable - i had the buffet one day - not quite befitting a Marriott Autograph hotel standard. I tried the western set another day - it was really quite nice but staff a bit inflexible. My daughter liked the bread so i asked for more only for the ultraman no sign to be invoked and the reply that they were out of stock (i guess that's their diplomatic way of saying you only get your one basket of bread and that's it. So I'm giving the hotel a 4/5. Nonetheless, there are enough positives to make me want to come back in future

From the moment we arrived at Roku Kyoto, we felt completely taken care of. From the warm greetings we received as we got out of the taxi to the genuine smiles and hospitality given to us at Reception. There is a pride that exudes from everyone at Roku Kyoto, and for good reason. It is an absolutely extraordinary hotel. But it's not just the beautiful accommodations and the incredibly thoughtful design throughout the property. Nor is it just the sumptuous food stunningly presented at every meal. It is the people who work there and represent the true heart and soul of what the Roku Kyoto experience is all about. My wife and I have traveled all around the globe and we have rarely encountered such a level of excellence. The architectural design, the interior design, the facilities and the grounds are all stunning. In fact, the photos from their website do not do it justice. The room we had on the 4th floor was gorgeous and the bed was perhaps the most comfortable bed we have ever encountered (and we travel often!). The tranquility, the views, the attention to detail throughout the hotel are are not just glorious but absolutely inspiring. The gorgeous pool is filled with water from the natural hot springs that abound in that area of Kyoto. It is a sumptuous experience to swim in that very special pool. We only had breakfast at the hotel, but it was the best we encountered in Japan. The food was beautifully prepared , the choices were extensive and stunningly displayed and the service was impeccable. In fact, service is another thing that sets this extraordinary hotel apart. It's not just well done, there is a pride and a joy that emanates from every member of the staff, no matter what their position. It's what gives this place true heart and soul and it's what elevates the experience. We will never forget our stay at Roku Kyoto and cannot wait to return! We would like to especially thank Kayo Naskagawa. Her attention to detail, her inherent ability to go the extra mile for a guest. Her sweetness and ease. Her ability to listen and use that information to heighten the Roku experience for a guest. Kayo, for us, represents everything we love about Roku Kyoto and why we cannot wait to return.

I’ll be quite honest, our first impressions when we arrived (by Coach from Kobe) was that it was underwhelming, dull and uninspiring, nor as large as we had expected, and in a fairly unremarkable Residential area. Kyoto was afterall The Capital of Japan (where the Emperor lived from 794 until 1868) and it was spared the worst of the bombing during World War II, due to its History, grandeur and splendour. Inside was quite a different story – modern, airy, massive atrium dominated the centre with Rooms, on each of 4 sides. Rooms were quite large, twin-beds pushed together to form a Double-Bed. Clean well-appointed and equipped, and we slept very well. Breakfast was good, but in a rather small and quite crowded area, so the Buffet demanded a lot of maneuvering round each other and the staff, who could not keep up with refreshing items that had run-out. Central to the ground floor was a Lounge wherein they also served drinks and snacks. We (4/5) sat there once whilst waiting for our 40+ people Coach to arrive. “No Drink, No Food, No Seat” - we unceremoniously were ordered out. Not a good move – to alienate 40 Guests in one move. An impromptu boycott followed The Hotel is due West of the Imperial Palace, so great Location for that, but their Courtesy Bus was well-used for folks wanting to go into the City, or take Buses to visit Tourist attractions etc, or obviously one could take a Taxi. There really was almost nothing in its vicinity, by way of Supermarkets, Restaurants nor Bars. We ate elsewhere every night, but IN the City Centre proper – see above. They had Restaurants, but they were way too expensive for our tastes/Budgets, so we could not Comment/Review them. We returned to Kyoto (our favourite Japanese City) nearly 4 weeks later, but this time stayed in a different Hotel, right in the heart of the City, where we spent tens of thousands of Yen in one night in their Bar.
The Kamo Gawa river is a first-class river with a total length of 31 km, and it is a river of souls passing through the center of Kyoto City to the north and south. The emperor chose this place because the water system of the Kamo gawa River, the Kamo Gawa river basin which joined Kamo gawa River, the Kamo gawa River and the Takano gawa River, developed the Heian Kyo. Shimogamo Jinja shrine is the oldest shrine in Kyoto. Kyoto Kaede Hotel Kamogawa has a beautiful scenic spot and a superior location. It is located 1 minute walk from Keihan demachiyanagi No.2 or 4 exit. Eizan electric railway is five minutes on foot. GINKAKU Ji Temple in Kyoto University is also within walking distance. Kyoto Budo Kan is also close and kendo team is often used. Kyoto Kaede Hotel Kamogawa, and eight rooms. The whole Japanese style room. Bathing in each room is used alone. There is a joint kitchen on the first floor. The first floor is facing the garden, and each room on the upper floor has a veranda. In front of the window, the historic kyomaya is lined up. January's first visit, cherry blossom in April, AOI Matsuri festival in May, Gozan okuribi in August, seasonal festival in October, and autumn season of November. The best choice of travel.
The location is excellent, the transportation is convenient, the service is thoughtful, the facilities are complete, clean and comfortable, and the environment is comfortable. Free LAN access is available in every room. Guests can make use of bathrobes, a hairdryer, and complimentary toiletries. You can borrow the iron for free (please consult the front desk for details). Wake up service, laundry service, etc. The hotel has 28 rooms. This is the best choice for your business or leisure trip. We look forward to your visit and we will be happy to help you.

Great value hotel. I would stay here, again and again.
There is good communication to downtown, a nice tea house and good French coffee shop near by, as well as restaurants.
Hotel is clean, comfy, well equiped. Only improvement I can imagine is to be able to fully open the room window.
This is the second hotel I stayed in Kyoto. Before going to Aman, I read some of posts here that the service was bad. I then quite regret to make a room reservation though I was impressed by the photos and posts from website. Besides, I had a bad first impression toward Aman Kyoto as they replied email for at least 3 days. This is not acceptable for such hotel with high room rate. When I arrived the hotel for the first day, I was quite surprised by the service. The hotel staff load my luggages from taxi efficiently and sent them to rooms directly. Then I was guided by another staff for check-in. She served me and my child a cup of green tea. This green tea is very special. Its taste is green tea but has a floral smell. My kid and I were very impressed. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy one before leaving. Then we went to Living Pavilion to have lunch. After lunch, our room was ready and a staff took us to the room and introduced us the facilities. The room is spacious, even the bathroom. We stayed in room 楢 . It is near the Living Pavilion, hotel’s restaurant. It is quite quiet. For our staying of two nights, we almost had dinner in room. The Udon noodle tastes good. My son ate it in lunch time and two dinner time. The hotel also provides welcome desserts for every night. First night is dried persimmon and the second night is chocolates. The chocolates are very very yummy. I tried the spa massage for two times. It is really good. As only me and my son in this trip, he couldn’t use the complimentary onsen. I then paid for a private onsen. It is very comfortable. The room’s pillows are very hard. My kid and I didn’t have a good sleep. We asked the front desk to give us a softer one for second night. It still doesn’t fit for me. Thus I didn’t sleep well during my stay. The breakfast had three choices: Western, Japanese and wellness. We tried western and Japanese breakfast. Both are delicious. Especially French toast in western style and porridge in Japanese style. The taste is unforgettable. The hotel environment is very comfortable. It is far away from the city. Only trees and grass around us. Everywhere has fresh air. It refreshes me. If the bed and pillow fit me, it will be perfect. We also had lunch in Tak-An restaurant. The food is good. The staffs are very nice and kids-friendly. They are very tolerant to kids. The check-out process is also very smooth. Everything is well-prepared, even our luggages. We booked a transportation to the Kansai Airport through the hotel. The driver is nice.

I had a king size room that was really big and had lots of space for luggage and to hang out, the bathroom had a nice bathtub which was great after a long day of exploring Kyoto. The location was great, practically right next to the Imperial palace and maybe 10 minutes walking to the nearest subway stop that could take you to Kyoto station in less than 5 minutes and then in essence the rest of the city and country. The wifi was strong which is important to me. The staff were nice and accommodating, Raju and Nie in the front desk helped me order something from amazon which they didn't need to do but did anyway which I very much appreciated. If I return to Kyoto (amazing city, loved it) then I'd definitely come back to Hotel Ninja Black.

Clean premises but very strict owner who did not like me laying my bag on the bed as it was 'fragile'?? Comfortable beds but very poor quality bed linen. No bath towels but there are tea towels in the shared kitchen for emergencies. Lots hot water for a super long relaxing shower. Single beds but we moved them together. A quirky basic stay rather than star rated comfort.
