What a tranquil boutique hotel. Smaller in size in the best way possible compared to large chain hotels, you really get to benefit from the peaceful atmosphere here. The highlight of the property is the beachfront area, flanked by a giant tree, fairy lights, soft music and great food, you could spend hours on the beach while watching the beautiful view of Le Morne Brabant in front. The rooms are nicely decorated and some of them have sea views, which was a nice touch. Also loved the lush botanical gardens

I had a lovely stay at the Veranda Tamarin - the resort, decor, facilities and layout exceeded my expectations. The all inclusive package was very good value for money although it would have been better if there was a wrist band which signified to staff that guests were all inclusive so that we didn't have to continually sign for every drink. At weekends the music and partying from the beach was loud as the property is very nearby and obviously the resort can't control the volume of this however the bar music was also loud and could maybe have stopped at midnight rather than 2am. The restaurant and bar staff were all very friendly and helpful. On the all inclusive package you were able to eat with a subsidy in the a la carte restaurant which was good and you also got money off trips booked through the hotel which was also good value. The spa treatment (massage) I had was disappointing and also overpriced in my view.

We had an amazing holiday experience from the first moment in the entrance until last minute! The location and view is perfect! There is a free shuttle to shopping center in town every morning after breakfast and to a wonderful nature/safari park minutes away! Every staff member was so smiley and happy to help to all our requirements! We would love to praise each single person as they deserve here, but here are few people we want to give a special thanks. From the Kitchen; Gopee the chef, Luciano the chef, Deepa ( who made us omlette and pancakes everyday) and all the cooks in kitchen we didn’t meet them that made an amazing buffet and delicious food everyday! Also to everyone we didn’t have time to write their name but that made our stay more than perfect! Again thank you so much for that lovely experience! A tale of two hotels. We stayed first at the Four Seasons for five nights - separate review and then came on to Maradiva. Having read the reviews for the Maradiva we knew we were coming to somewhere special. Arrival We were welcomed and shown to a golf buggy for a tour of the resort. No welcome drink but a fleeting greeting with the Manager. A young lady with beautifully manicured nails took us on a very swift tour of the resort. There was no warmth just cold professionalism. We were driven also to see the celebrity garden where all their famous clients have planted a tree. It was clear we were supposed to be impressed but that kind of thing does not interest nor impress us. As it is, the trees are planted to close together and it looks more like a pet cemetery than anything else. The Room Our room was beautiful inside. It can’t be faulted. The outside sitting area was beautiful too however the pool area had no view and looked onto the backs of all the other villas. A small fence would have perhaps allowed it to feel more enclosed. The small plunge pool is beautiful. You can however hear your neighbours and the building work as they are all close by. We were unfortunate and happened to have vocal neighbours as well as the building work. See photos. Had we been staying longer we would have asked for a note to be left with the room next door. The light floods the bedroom early on as the door between the bathroom and the bedroom allows light through. So take a sleep mask if you are a light sleeper. The Restaurants Breakfast: The best. A superb breakfast. A La carte and beautifully cooked. Evening Meals We were half board but planned to use the credit as we do in every hotel we stay in. On the first night we ate in the main restaurant and had a nice meal. At the end of the meal the new Food & Beverages Manager came up to us and announced there had been a mistake and we shouldn’t have been able to choose the food we had eaten as we are on half board. Quietly my husband explained to him that there wasn’t an issue as this is easily resolved by deducting the credit from the half board. The manager however felt the need to emphasise once again that we really shouldn’t have been able to eat what we ate but it was the hotels mistake and tomorrow would be given a different menu. Because he spoken such a loud voice, he got the attention of all the tables around us, which was most embarrassing. No matter how much we emphasised that this wasn’t a problem. This new manager felt the need to let us know that the board menu is different and we were only half board. Never have we been so humiliated in a hotel of this standard, in all our years of travel. Very poor and very unprofessional . having stayed in another hotels on the West Coast of Mauritius, on the return from the meal we considered leaving the hotel and moving elsewhere. From that evening afterwards we chose to eat down at the beach where there was no issue in simply adding to the half boar

The hotel was not what i expected from a 5 star. I believe that they are going to do renovations this year. I had half board and wanted to upgrade to all inclusive but they don’t offer all inclusive had I known this before, I wouldn’t have book at this hotel. So full board was and extra Rs8000 and you could only have 2 glasses of wine or two beers included. I can’t understand how the hotel can’t see that this encourages guests to purchase alcohol outside of the hotel. Anyways the bar staff were exceptional in making you feel welcome and really spoilt my daughter for her birthday. One in particular named Sahil. This guy is truly a diamond in the rough. Our time at the hotel was rainy weather but we still enjoyed it with people like Sahil around. Thank you!

酒店的服務有失五星級酒店的水準： 1. 入住時男朋友讓工作人員領着他去認了一下洗手間、健身房在哪裡，被工作人員説他事多（男朋友英語不太好，可能工作人員覺得他聽不懂）。 2. 吃晚餐時向服務員要冰塊，一名叫Gopee的服務員不給。 3. 晚上想泡一杯泡麪，去餐廳問有沒有熱水，兩個工作人員都告訴我吧枱咖啡機可以打熱水，突然Gopee出現在我身後（進餐廳時並沒有看到他，也沒有問他，不知道為什麼他會知道有人想打熱水），不讓我用咖啡機接熱水，原因是“the coffee machine is too fragile for hot water”。 4. 很多服務員喜歡説“you are not allowed…”，讓人不舒服，我花很多錢住度假酒店還需要處處be allowed to do sth？ 5. 總之，酒店的位置離追鯨碼頭和鳥公園非常近，且sugar beach是附近酒店中最貴的一家，才選擇的這家酒店，我會期望這樣的酒店可以有相對令人滿意的服務，不可否認酒店還是有非常熱情、態度好的員工，但是總體而言，相比於我住過的很多同等級別的酒店，這家店的服務是我體驗過最差的。我們這次也住了大灣麗世，相比而言lux的服務會好太多。 酒店管理混亂： 1.餐廳不讓自帶飲料不直説，拐彎抹角的，且餐廳的服務員很多都不知道餐廳的規定：在sugar beach住了三天，晚餐的時候會自己帶想喝的飲料，入住時以及前兩天用餐時，很多服務員看到我們的飲料，但從未有人告訴我們晚餐不可以自帶飲料。最後一天突然被告知“no plastic on the table”（因為飲料是用塑料瓶裝的）。我們問其他服務員，是否有“no plastic on the table”的規定，其他服務員均表示沒聽過這種規定，最後問餐廳經理，餐廳經理先説確實有餐廳不能使用塑料的規定，因為公司的“環保要求”，我説那我帶玻璃瓶的飲料是不是就可以了，餐廳經理才説餐廳不可以自帶飲料，且我不可以在我的房間外的任何地方享用自帶酒水。我可以理解餐廳的“環保要求”以及希望通過酒水獲得更多營收，但應該提前告知不可以自帶酒水，而且可以直接説明，而不是先用“no plastic on the table”這樣的理由告訴我不能喝自己的飲料，最後層層詢問才告訴最終原因是餐廳不允許自帶飲料。 2.穿無袖的衣服進入餐廳被要求回房間換衣服（入住時就已經告知，我們也理解，第一天忘記了，我們直接回去換了衣服，後面再也沒有穿過無袖進餐廳），但是用餐的時候還是能看到其他人穿無袖在餐廳用餐。 其他： 1. 酒店的瓶裝水非常難喝，喝起來味道像tap water 2. 吃飯的時候蒼蠅有點多，而且會有鳥搶食物（海島蟲多可以理解，但是依舊有很多酒店可以把蟲子治理的很好；鳥的問題，餐桌上還好，自己注意點就好了，但是看到有鳥飛到餐枱區，直接吃餐枱區的麪包，還是有點不衞生） 3. 晚上有很多蝙蝠

The hotel staff were amazing and very welcoming. The food was exceptional and the hotel management really made an effort to help bring in the new year in style. Our room was clean and the housekeeping staff were always available to help with no matter what. I would definitely recommend this hotel. As a constructive criticism, maybe the hotel could make the carts more available for the eldely as walking from the room to the main hotel is very long - it's a massive hotel. Maybe some cart taxi's at certain times for people who are older and want to get around the hotel. But other than this our time at this hotel was just incredible. Thank you La Pirogue!
