Hotel 3 Bintang di La Spezia

I booked a three-night stay in an Economy Single room, so I wasn’t expecting luxury but my allocated room on arrival had a shower that was difficult to access because of the confined space. The man on reception found me another single room, which suited me perfectly. The bed was really comfortable, everything clean. It wasn’t a power shower, but it was really good. The air conditioning worked like a dream: really quiet and highly effective in the oppressively hot weather. I found it was sufficient to switch it on when I returned to my room and that a pleasant room temperature was maintained even when I turned the air conditioning off at night. The room rate was good value and competitively priced compared with alternative accommodation throughout this popular tourist area. This hotel really is the perfect base for exploring the Cinque Terre, being adjacent to the railway station with access to the frequent trains that get you quickly to where you want to go. I realised how lucky I was to be staying there. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotel Ghironi is in La Spezia, a 5-minute drive from the A15 motorway. It offers spacious rooms, free WiFi and free parking. Ghironi’s air-conditioned rooms feature minibar, satellite TV and balcony. An internet point is available in the lobby. Ghironi Hotel also has a garden and a bar. A rich breakfast is served every morning. Free on-site parking is provided. Staff are available 24 hours and provide information on local sights, including the Cinque Terre that you can reach via ferry from the harbour.

I enjoyed my stay here. The staff was available until 8PM. They had a great location right next to the train and within walking distance of a great nightlife and restaurants. La Spezia is a cute city. It's only a 7 minute train ride to Cinque Terra villages. The shower needs a door, but was spacious and had warm water. I did experience some problems with vaping/ electronic cigarette smoking on site. Unfortunately, some of it seemed to be coming from the cleaning crew. Hotels really need to understand how bad this problem is and how negatively it affects guests, especially people with asthma.

We booked 2 nights with breakfast included. We were 2 adults with our 16 year-old daughter. The room is comfortable and it has all you need and won't break the bank. The staff was really helpful and suggested a great restaurant for the first night. The location is awesome, being right above the train station, it makes it perfect for a day trip to Cinque Terre. The room has a kettle, coffee and tea and some complimentary cookies. There is storage for your clothes (armoire). There is a common room with 2 loveseats and books to borrow/take/exchange. There is no elevator and we were on the 3rd floor. Not a big deal for us, but good to know in advance. Communication with the staff in advance was great and they were helpful to get us there easily. We also booked for breakfast. They give you a voucher for a coffee shop one street over for a coffee and croissant. The place and staff was great. The croissant was really tasty. I would recommend this hotel.

Affittacamere del Golfo was the perfect place for us to base ourselves for a few days exploring the Cinque Terre. We loved La Spezia and are glad we chose this city instead of staying in one of the actual Cinque Terre towns. Affittacamere is a ten minute walk to the La Spezia train station where frequent trains run frequently to the towns. Staying in La Spezia you have many great choices for shopping and dining without the crush of crowds and limited restaurant options. Our accommodations were well-appointed and comfortable: Affittacamere del Golfo is a collection of rooms with a lobby, in a typical older multi-family apartment building. Our room was well-maintained and clean, the bed was comfortable (and the bathroom was also clean and in full working order). There were no problems with water pressure or availability of hot water. Elisa, the proprietor, was friendly and helpful and always more than happy to get us situated and oriented. We asked for local dining off the beaten track and she directed us to a place near the water where we had amazing seafood every night. Affittacamere del Golfo is not fancy but it was exactly what we needed and we would stay there again without hesitation.

B&B L’Arca di Noè is located in central La Spezia, just 300 metres from La Spezia Central Station and a 15-minute walk from the city’s cathedral. The self-serve Italian-style breakfast is available on site. Offering free WiFi, the air-conditioned rooms are simply furnished and all provide a TV and private bathrooms. A common kitchen with fridge, kettle and washing machine is available. In less than 10 minutes by train you can reach Riomaggiore, one of the Cinque Terre towns.
