Las Nubes de Holbox

We would love to come back to this beautiful and quiet spot at the end of the road on Holbox. The room was super clean and charming as was the entire resort, despite a recent storm. Breakfast was included and delicious. Two things will keep us from returning. The bed was the hardest mattress I’ve slept on in my life. It’s not an exaggeration to say it was like sleeping on a yoga mat on top of a concrete floor. Seriously would have slept outside on a lounge were it not for the mosquitoes. On the subject of mosquitoes, they were really not that bad. They were out mostly within an hour of sunset, and the resort supplies natural citronella based repellent in all the rooms, as do most of the higher end restaurants on the island. The other thing that would keep us from returning is the insanely slow service at the restaurant especially at breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, all of the staff are very friendly, but despite only having a few tables occupied at breakfast service, we could not seem to get a coffee or a menu or our order taken or the order filled. It actually became comical. It could be easily solved with an F&B manager that did some training with them I’m sure. Otherwise a lovely stay.

They have the best spot on the island, however, they have no idea how to function as a 4/5 star hotel..! Sadly we had a few too many issues, including no hot water and no regulated flow which meant the water flowed hot and cold which was not great for anyone let alone our 5 year old daughter - mentioned on the first day and nothing was done… Something so powerful in the want to be infinity pool that it stained all three of our new swimming costumes bright green… Breakfast staff made to inform you daily that their service is not included, literally begging... And the service is per other reviews, slow to say the least... I brought this and more to Preydy’s (allegedly the Hotel Manager) attention offering constructive feedback and requesting an escalation to the head office as apparently they run 3/4 hotels on the island. One week has passed and he’s gone silent having sent him a reminder email. None of this is on or expected in a 4/5 star hotel… Stay at Tortuga..!

My family and I had a great four-day stay at Las Nubes. It's a very chill place and what really makes it stand out are the staff. They were very helpful and worked hard to please. For example, we had a big storm and Luana (if I have the name right) and the rest of the staff made sure we had enough food and our room was OK. We really enjoyed the restaurant, particularly the great service of Jose and Isaac. Highly recommended.

WARNING THIEFS - Where to start with this so called luxury resort ? After booking three nights there, the road suddenly became impracticable in Holbox, flooded. No taxi wanted - or could - take us to the hotel. We called the hotel, maybe 20 times to see if they had a solution, wrote many many WhatsApp (this problem of flooding happens apparently on regular basis in Holbox). No one ever answered. After a night in another hotel (at our expense), Las Nubes finally reached out to say that they were not to cancel our reservation and lied about the fact that it possible to come to the hotel and that they were working perfectly normally (the power was in fact out for more than 24 hours). We left them 1200 dollars, that they refuse to refund, never even saw the hotel and they were so rude, lying to us even. Do not be fooled this is terrible management, and this experience with them a true NIGH**ARE.

Top quality hotel, with a great location being the closest hotel to Punta Mosquito and the nature reserve. We loved our beachfront bungalow which looked out over the sea. Service was excellent - particularly Orlando

Absolutely stunning, this is the best place to stay in all of Holbox! We adored our stay at Las Nubes, it was like paradise! The rooms are large, very clean and come with a cozy hammock. The staff was so nice to us during the entire stay and made sure we have the most amazing time. A special thank you to Preydy, Orlando, Christian, Rene and Rodrigo for always being there for us and the incredible service! The two pool areas were beautiful and very relaxing to laze around all day, with many options from the bar and snack menu. Lastly, we loved the location. It's sitting right in-front of the Sandbanks. So whether you want beach, Sandbanks, water-sports, everything is within walking distance.

Las Nubes is easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The attention to detail, amenities, and extras are all above and beyond. Special shout out to the staff who made the stay even better than it could have been - Orlando, Preydy, Rene, Rodrigo, Chris and others! A superstar team that make this the TOP hotel in Holbox, hands down!

Hotel located in one of the quietest and most beautiful positions on the island. The accommodations are spacious, the facilities modern, and in general, everything is well-maintained. The cuisine is excellent, the quality of the bar and restaurant service largely depended on the commi**ent of the individuals.

Having stayed in numerous higher end hotels in my life, Las Nubes was kind of a shocker. Not that it is bad, it’s decent just not what one would expect from a higher end hotel. We checked in after 3:30pm, room was ready and we had the master suite on-site which was great since it’s at the end of the property and very private as a result. The ride to the property from the ferry took approximately 15min by Jeep (200 pesos). Upon arrival, first impression was the property looks like one would see in the Maldives. Individual bungalows and duplexes dotted throughout. Our suite was absolutely spacious and spotless albeit a very strong cleaning product scent. It was very strong in a pleasant way. Main living area was tastefully decorated with modern fixtures. First day, we had to hunt down glasses and tea cups which were not in the room, very odd. Then we couldn’t find a phone anywhere in the suite , so to get anything, we have to walk to the front desk. The en-suite bathroom was huge but very dated. This is fine as it was cleaned very well and had everything we needed except glasses . Rooms are air conditioned but we found that we didn’t need it. We had the windows open throughout the night. Be careful to close the doors in the evening to avoid mosquitoes. Windows are protected with nets. Staff at the hotel were all fabulous. Very happy and nice people working there. Restaurant is more of a emergency food place. They didn’t have fish and there was only 2 servers usually , sometimes 3 so expect to wait for your food. We ate elsewhere most nights . The bar serves its purpose. The on-site spa had a good menu and I had a deep tissue massage from Anna. Well trained and I was very pleased with it . Expensive though which was expected. Order your departure taxi in advance and much earlier than you need it. reception ordered it the night prior but the taxi was over 20 min late for our early morning departure at 6:30am. We managed to catch the ferry thankfully. Had we booked it per their suggestion for 6am we would have been late and missed our ferry. We booked it for 5:50am and taxi was late arriving around 6:10am. The hotel did a good job clearing most of the sargassum on their beach as most places had theirs piled up making the beach smell bad. Overall, I would recommend to book this hotel as it’s still better than most on the beach.
