Chateau du Boulay Morin

A hidden gem. Beautiful Chateau in stunning grounds, I had two wonderful woodland walks accompanied by friendly resident huskies. It snowed while I was there and scenes were magical, with deer running through the extensive woodland! The host, Philippine, is extremely welcoming and brings a real personal touch to the stay. The property dates from around 17th century so don't expect high tech amenities - although my room did feature a jacuzzi bath - but everything is on hand to make the stay more than comfortable. With charming antique furniture and cozy beds, if you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful, country setting and fantastic service, this property delivers exactly that!

What a find! An unforgettable experience! We stayed only one night athe Chateau de Boulay Morin on our drive back in our classic car from the north of England to our home in south western France. Frome the moment we drew up at the side of the hotel we were welcomed by Phillipe, the proprietor, who enthusiastically discussed our vehicle and the collection of cars he had owned over the years. We were then given a tour of his magnificent chateau, with details of it's history - it is one of three buildings built by King Louis XIV (the others being le Palais de Versailles and Le Petit Trianon), and this one was built for his mistress! The whole experience is not that of a conventional hotel stay, here you feel you are a house guest in a very fine country house and you are encouraged to walk in the extensive grounds and woodland that surround the Chateau. Our room was spacious and comfortable with fews over the grounds to the rear of the building. The bed was large and comfortable and the room's furnishings were eclectic and charmingly (but slightly) worn, but evrything was perfectly clean and in working order. One small observation, the two bedside lamps had naked light bulbs - perhaps a quick trip to IKEA to buy a couple of small lampshades would be in order? Breakfast is served at an impressively large table in the formal dining room, which encourages guests to get to know each other - a great idea. The selection of breakfast items was very wide and of good quality - freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly baked baguettes and viennoiserie with Bonne Maman conserves were all appreciated. The Chateau is a very relaxing, peaceful place to stay and relax. We didn't try the heated swimming pool, but it looked very inviting, particularly when the water was at 30 degrees celsius (and we stayed in the latter half of May 2023). There is also a fine looking tennis court and boulodrome for sporty types to enjoy. An unforgettable place to stay; we hope to stay again in the future, but this time for longer! If you are passing close to Evreux, be sure to give the Chateau Boulay Morin a try - it's quite an experience!

What a fantastic place to stay. It's an old château, built in the 17th century by Louis 14th. You won't get 5* service - it's more of a B&B but you are free to wander around, use the pool and the facilities, explore the grounds, and enjoy staying in somewhere splendid. The owner is very accommodating and will make you breakfast. There is no restaurant, but he will book you in somewhere local or order you a takeaway. It was a shame we only got to stay one night as we broke up our journey across France but we intend to return.

This place is amazing. We visited with our 2 young children and they fed the rabbits and the chickens in the morning - they were enchanted. The rooms and beds are comfortable then breakfast delicious. The pool and facilities are stunning. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Such a beautiful and historic place, very comfortable and relaxing. Great facilities so the kids were entertained but large enough to be away from other people too so you didn't get disturbed or disturb anyone else. The host is amazing with such enthusiasm for everything from the history of the building to making the kids feel special too. They really look after you without being in your face. A good place to kick back, relax and take some time for yourself. Thankyou

The chateau full of History Louis 14th Etc was made by the host Phillipe a sort French Version of Basil Fawlty he was amazing full of History ,and very entertaining

Excellent hidden gem, fantastic host and most friendly chateau experience. The location is good, just a short drive to shops and the nearest town. Really authentic experience of French chateau life! The room views are unspoilt and breathtaking of the grounds and surrounding countryside.
