A very beautiful hotel with a history. We stayed here for two nights. Upon entry, we were greeted by Thomas, he was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. The front desk staff as well as the breakfast and bar went above and beyond in guest service. We did not have an opportunity to enjoy the spa but the facilities were very clean and welcoming. Within walking distance to Lille city and an Uber ride away from Fromelles where we went to the Museum and walked through cemeteries from the World War which displayed the sacrifices made to ensure our freedoms. I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Lille.

This is the 4th B&B Hotel my family and I have stayed in since we discovered them and this was different to the rest as the kids didn't have to chose which one got the top bunk. This was a decent hotel if you want to have a base that is only a 20 minute walk to teh centre of Lille on a budget. Check in porceudre was fine, beds were comfy, room was clean and we had fresh towels daily. The room was a better size than previous B&B Hotels we've stayed in previously which was nice as the kids had their own little bit. Only slight downsides were: Room smelt of smoke on day 1 (which I think was down to the people in floors above smoking out their windows and dropping their cigarette butts out the window), this went awy though. Room suffered with a lack of natural light due to the design of the building. The stairs and lift did make a lot of noise. Other than that, decent hotel on a budget.

We have been travelling around Europe for a few weeks. For the last 2 nights we have been staying at the moxy in lille.. . Fantastic hotel. Very funky decor. From check in to check out the staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly.. great rooms. Very comfortable bed, lovely shower, love the express breakfast it's a great idea.. great location easy walk to many restaurants and bars.. if you are visiting lille this is a great place to stay..

This is a ”classic” hotel but you get a fully equipped kitchenette in the room which is great if you want to have breakfast in or cook something easy and fast. The location between the two train stations is spectacular. The huge Westfield shopping center is just behind the corner with an incredible Carrefour in there. It has been a great staying, the ladies at my check-in have been very very helpful as I had issues with my cards for the payment. I cannot say the same for a guy who worked there in the evening who was completely not interested in my humble request of a bottle opener which oddly enough was not provided in the kitchenette. I am sure if asked, the hotel is going to come up with some safety story or just some fake bla-bla just because they don't want to admit you cannot bring your bottle in the room but you should rather buy the wine from them. Another thing they could improve is the cleanliness of the toilet, bathroom and room floor. Don't get me wrong: they were not visibly dirty. But one could feel they had been ”wiped” carelessly, just to make you believe they are clean. And one could sense the room floor had not been washed with hot water and properly. Same thing for the bath tub. I could just visualize before my eyes the lazy cleaning staff not caring less about the precision of their work. But in a whole I absolutely give the property a thumb up and recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the beauty and charm of Lille and northern France!

The hotel was located in a good position, and the decoration is modern and minimalist. Welcoming service was good. On the other hand…. The rooms were not clean, we did not have enough towels, coffee machine was broken, A/C was working but much noisy, you could hear pelople’ steps on the floor above. No slippers were provided. When we kindly asked to solve these issues, they “fixed” the coffee machine, but forgot to refill the coffee recharge for 2 days. The 3rd day, we had the coffee. The A/C problem was not resolved. It can happen to have issues, but when telling them, you would expect them to meet you in the middle. I would not recommend, and especially, I would definitely not evaluate it as a “4-stars hotel”. It’s more a 2 stars.

The location was very convenient for train travelling. I arrived next door at Lille Europe and continued the next day to Lille Flandres station. Walked to both.
The hotel is also working a very nice walk to city centre. Very safe and lively walk. The Westfield shopping mall is nearby so shopping is made easy.
Large mini suite. My son travelled with me so we had the small bed made out, but still had plenty of room.
Only thing are that the bathroom and toilet room seem prefabricated and are kind of wonky (though very functional. My son felt they felt as if we were in a train bathroom.
All and all, very nice.
*we did not eat at the cafeteria (it is not a restaurant, really).

The hotel is excellently located opposite the main train station where the Eurostar arrived. The area was very quiet and also within walking distance to pretty much everything we needed to see so we walked everywhere and never needed public transport. The lobby of the hotel is cosy and very welcoming and the people at reception were friendly and very accommodating. The room was nice and the beds very comfortable. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that but we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

I enjoyed my stay, as the hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean, although small. I will definitely choose to stay there again, and have decided to visit again before the end of the year because I had such a pleasant experience.

I stayed here for business for 3 months. It a clean and friendly hotel. It is very central therefore easy to walk anywhere in Lille from it. The staff are so friendly and are always keen to help. I always felt it as an oasis of calm .. despite any chaos outside .. rugby World Cup & braderie.. I would walk in the doors to calm & peace. The gym was basic but adequate for my needs and again I enjoyed the calm of it. I would recommend it whole heartedly and will miss it.

We stayed at this hotel twice: in December 2022 and in February 2024. The location might not be the most obvious (however, it takes about 8 minutes of leisurely walk to both metro stations in between which the hotel is located). The location on its own is a little bit outside of the city centre, however, you get from this hotel to the city centre rather quickly. There's a shopping centre next door, which takes half of the distance to the nearest metro station. The hotel is relatively new (I think when we were there in 2022 it just opened), therefore most things are still in a very decent shape. Both times when we stayed at this hotel, we observed that it was sparkling clean. The size of the rooms is also large by French standards, and the rooms are fairly well-equipped. The only 2 pieces of criticism that we could offer would be to replace paper cups with porcelain cups in the room (if possible) and ensure that the soap is replenished (we got a refill bottle at reception, but it would've been so much less hassle if the hotel would've put it in advance). The WiFi works well. We didn't try any breakfast at this hotel, as on both occasions we had planned brunches with friends, however. judging by the price and the looks of it as we were passing by, it would be a good value.

MMargaux LI forgot my makeup worth 300 euros there. Getting it back was so hard. I called for 3 days just to get a simple link sent to my email address and then paid 35 euros for ”fast” shipping, which wasn't fast at all. When I finally got my package, almost everything was gone—just a deodorant and one makeup brush were left. It’s obvious my things were stolen by someone at the hotel. When I called, I was left with no acceptable answer and could not even speak to the manager on shift. This hotel doesn’t care about you or your stuff. They didn’t even say sorry. Don’t stay at Hotel Barriere. There are more honest places that will respect you and your things.

The hotel is really well situated to explore all that Central Lille has to offer with the olde worlde cobbled stone streets that yield endless independent shops and the new Westfield shopping centre. Within walking distance of both Euro Lille and Lille Flanders railway stations and just around the corner from the Christmas market. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was busy and served on individual trays to your table along with additional items on the counter. We booked a double bedroom. Unfortunately it was not as described:- there was no in room safe and the bath/ shower combination was actually just a small shower cubicle in the small bathroom. The room was not as big as we are accustomed to with very little room around the bed. As we were there for only three nights we made the most of it and revelled instead in the beautiful city of Lille.

PPengguna TetamuWe stayed here in order to go to a game at the Rugby World Cup, while this was on they tripled the charge for an overnight stay but this is true of hotels in all cities hosting an event so it was expected. The hotel is in a good location just a short walk from the old town and many bars & restaurants. There's also a supermarket around the corner for beer/wine (there's a fridge in the room) or snacks. It's also not too far from the Eurostar station which you can walk to or take the metro. The format of the bedrooms seemed to vary depending on the location, ours was on the 4th floor and had a separate shower in addition to the bath but it had no room to store flat clothes, there was only hanging space. Rooms on the 2nd floor only had a bath with a shower outlet but plenty storage room for clothes. Regardless our room was clean, quiet, well decorated and had a comfortable bed - nothing at all to complain about. It also had a safe, a large flat screen TV and good wi-fi reception. The staff on reception and in the bar were friendly and helpful. The bar was very busy while we were there but they managed to cope very well with the number of orders for both drinks and food. Drinks were on the expensive side but this is true of most hotels. Breakfast was a bit disappointing in terms of variety and quality (especially the hot items) but the bread was fresh and there was some fruit on offer. There is a courtyard area where you can sit outside in addition to the bar/breakfast areas and we found this a convenient place to sit on the last day while we were waiting for transport to go home. As it is close to Flanders we took the opportunity to book a private WW1 battlefield tour which we enjoyed. If we decide to return to do a similar tour we will certainly stay at this hotel.

The apartment hotel was friendly, clean and very reasonably priced. It is within walking distance of Lille's Old Town and there are plenty of shops nearby. I felt very comfortable there and slept well. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in Lille.

KKate ThomWe were assigned an accessible junior suite though we didn't request an accessible room.. The bathroom was half finished and the wiring was not completed with the switches for the separate toilet and bath located in the doorway. There were signs pasted on the door to the toilet and the door to the shower stating that the hotel offered its apologies for the inconvenience! There was a workman's support pole found under the sinks which had to be removed by the technician when we complained. There was not a single hook, clothes stand, towel rack or rail anywhere in the bathroom, toilet or room. The hotel staff explained that they would send a technician a second time to drill hooks in the bathroom, we didn't bother since we were staying only 2 nights and didn't want the dust. The shower glass in the shower stall could not contain water within the stall and the floor became wet after we showered.
Location wise the hotel is perfect and the staff were polite. Breakfast was a mix of hot cooked food and the usual cold cuts, cheeses, breads, yoghurt, fruits and juices. The breakfast room changes to a bar at night which serves affordable and nice cocktails.

PPengguna TetamuOnce we located it (I would recommend NOT USING GOOGLE MAPS) it is very well located using Opera House and Apple Store as landmarks and it is close to Lille Europe. Whilst the rooms are small and the lift even smaller it is not any different in size to any other city centre hotel I have stayed in. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the breakfast is perfectly adequate with freshly squeezed orange juice (you do have to request this it is not left out in the buffet area). Certainly had no complaints and would stay here again. My only small complaint is an a typical English tea drinker that the basic Thè was not available but this is a small ****** on what is otherwise a good value for money stay.

PPengguna TetamuIt was an enjoyable stay but not exactly up to the standards of a 4 star hotel or the standards of other Mercure hotels I've stayed in. The location is excellent for getting around and the room was nice and spacious (the bathroom in particular was very big!). However the interior of the hotel felt a little run down, especially in the corridors, and needs a bit of care and attention. The TV also didn't have any channels available... The big priorities for me with a hotel stay are the shower quality and noise levels, both of which were not great. The shower was a bit of a trickle so not particularly great and there was a fair amount of noise from other guests chatting and slamming doors which traveled to my room and disturbed my sleep. I also didn't receive any member benefits which I've had in other Mercure hotels. Staff were friendly and cleanliness of the rooms was great so an overall nice stay but felt much more 3 star than 4. There were also some green initiatives which didn't make sense; no bottles of water to save on single use plastics and instead (very small) paper cups; surely cups that end up soggy after a few uses are also wasteful and contribute to deforestation? When I stayed at a Mercure in Berlin, they offered complimentary still and sparkling water in glass bottles which you could then take to the bar and refill which feels much more sustainable.

Rooms hot and poorly ventilated. We We’re pleased it wasn’t summer! The bed was comfortable and linen clean and fresh. Bathroom was ok, but so small I could barely fit into it. Little room between sink and door. One smallish towel was provided per person and one of our towels had a hole in it. The toilet seat was awful. Neither the lid or the seat would stay up. Really awkward for males. Not even plastic glasses were provided in the room, so you couldn’t have a drink of water. Bar was ok but very expensive. Restaurant is a shipping container in the back yard. No doubt very cool and all that but its facilities were meagre. We ordered 2 pizzas and were warned it could be a 50 minute wait. We decided that was just about acceptable. However it took 1.5 hours to deliver our order! It might be funky and all that but it was very, very slow. In fact really poor. Staff friendly, with good English spoken throughout. Parking plentiful and it felt secure. The hotel is too far from the city centre to be convenient. We walked in twice and whilst quite a pleasant walk it is about 40 minutes. There were no shops or restaurants within easy walking distance. It wasn’t exactly cheap but OK. Overall average.
