Hotel berhampiran LOCARNO Train Station, Locarno

Emplacement idéal, très centré et au bord du lac. Chambre spacieuse mais très vieille ... salle de bain ancestrale avec une ventilation qui fait un bruit d’enfer, une baignoire avec un vieux rideau de douche et une robinetterie datant de bien des décennies (pas de mélangeur) ... difficile de régler la température de l’eau. Pas de climatisation ... juste un ventilateur qui ne sert à rien ! Salle du petit déjeuné pas très accueillante et le buffet avec très peu de choix ! Dommage que les chambres ne soient par mieux entretenues et surtout rénovées et mise au goût du jour. Je n’y retournerais pas c’est sûr !

We have a few days vacation with friends here. And it was really FANTASTIC! First we have a surprised check in and the receptionist Gian make for us everything very professional . Then restaurant service is astonishing. And the rest is BREAKFAST it’s really something as well view is amazing and the price is quite accessible. So for me PALMA LOCARNO is one of the best.

Personal äusserst freundlich! Sogar unser Hund wurde sehr herzlich aufgenommen. Frühstück ist sehr ausreichend und die Abendmenüs einfach aber recht lecker. Ein Manko geht an die Stadt Locarno ein : leider nicht hundgerecht. Es hat sehr viel Asphalt, was zu Verbrennungen führen kann. Die meisten möglichen Grünflächen sind für Hunde nicht erlaubt.

Stayed here for 1 night. The location of the hotel is perfect, only a block away from the lake. The hotel parking is right below the hotel. Unfortunately it cannot be reserved. The rooms in the hotel are pretty small, but very clean and a very comfy bed. The service at the hotel was good and friendly from check-in to breakfast the next morning. Overall, it was a great value stay and I will go there again.

after being forced to leave Ibis Locarno because of partying teenagers, coming to hotel D'Angelo was such a relief, beautiful peaceful and antique ambiente, was just what I needed, the feeling of security, of staff fully in charge, being taken care of from A to Z, that's how a proper hotel will survive for 150 years, highly recommended

At £350 per night this is one of the most expensive hotels I have ever stayed in, but this is Switzerland; most of the rooms have great views of the lake; it's right next to the train station for those travelling by rail; it has underground parking available for those with a car; a wash and internal cycle store for the well-off on a bike; and it's less than 10 mins stroll to the lake boats. We're certainly pleased we stayed there! This hotel is only three years old and it's very smart. It has been very well deisgned and is extremely spacious. Not only are the guest rooms themselves well-sized and insulated - and of course larger still if you pay more - but the corridors and staircases are wide and the cupboards for the cleaning staff positively huge and well-lit. (That's not normally a concern of guests but it evidences the thought that has gone into this place - housekeeping personnel will be happier if they're not working out of a dingy closet!) The attention to detail is also evident in such things as the lighting controls; the electric blind for the balcony; the very lightweight but extremely effective blackout curtains; and the automatic lights in the corridors coming on quickly rather than instantaneously. The all-important bed was huge (it must have been Emperor size) with very firm but comfortable twin mattresses (Room 308); the staff were very friendly and efficient; and the breakfast offer was first rate, with coffee etc made and delivered to your table to order. Other than breakfast we didn't eat at the hotel or its connected establishments, preferring instead to economise for four nights by going to the rustic Trattoria del Lago a few hundred metres to the east (where most dishes come with polenta or any risotto of your choosing as long as it's mushroom...). Finally, if you are travelling by rail then one tip I can give you is not to leave the terminus at the front of the station but to head back down the tracks to the very end of the platform (Sector D) - see photos. If you're on Platform 2 or 3 then here is a new air-conditioned subway with lifts and an interactive departures' board that I suspect very few people use, but if you're already on Platform 1 then simply drop down onto the road and round to the front of the hotel.
