We live locally and are regulars at many of the eateries in town, but the Sunday Carvery at the Portbyhan simply cannot be beaten! On a grey day in January, it is such a pleasure to be welcomed by a friendly team, always happy and obviously enjoy their work. The setting is magical, alongside the river overlooking the boats and harbour. We have sat many times in the main restaurant, but today chose the Brasserie on one of the new high tables, and what a view! The brasserie has been recently refurbished and is stylish and modern but comfortable and welcoming. The food is exceptional, the quality of the meats is first class. They obviously buy high quality emat, but it is cooked to perfection every time, offering a choice of both rare and well done beef, honey glazed gammon and roast turkey, they are all delicious. Then a wide selection of fresh vegetables, again perfectly cooked and presented. The kitchen team have high standards and are obviously proud of their food offering, rightly so. I cannot recommend the Portbyhan highly enough. If you haven’t tried it yet, you better phone ahead to book as they are often sold out. Thank you team at the Portbyhan once again.
