My stay at Vivanta Mangalore was generally pleasant. The room had a lovely ambiance, offering a comfortable and relaxing space, and the hotel itself was impeccably maintained—neat, clean, and organized. However, there were a few aspects that fell short of our expectations. One disappointment was that the gym was under construction, so we couldn’t access it during our stay. The breakfast menu offered a good variety, but unfortunately, the donuts were not fresh and seemed undercooked. Our first experience at the hotel, however, was a frightening one. Upon checking in, we were given a room card that needed to be tapped in the elevator to access our room on the fourth floor. No one informed us about the process, and it appeared that the card was not properly activated. As we tried tapping it multiple times, the elevator suddenly began to jolt, and a loud emergency alert sounded. The lights went out, and we found ourselves stuck inside with no clear cell signal. We immediately tried the emergency phone within the elevator, but no one answered. As minutes passed, our anxiety grew, and we even began shouting for help. After about five minutes of waiting in darkness, the elevator finally opened on the first floor. We went directly to the reception to report the issue. However, rather than addressing our concerns, the staff brushed off the incident. They simply escorted us to our room using another lift, and we noticed that a technician was later working to repair the faulty elevator. This incident was genuinely unsettling, and the indifferent response from the staff left us feeling unheard and concerned about the hotel’s safety measures.

Very average for a 4-star hotel. My flight arrived a little late so I called them in the afternoon itself and told them to hold my room with a queen bed specifically... but when I arrived they gave me a room with two single beds. As a tall person, it was very hard to sleep. They only switched me to a new room the next day when I insisted the next day. There was no bell hop when I arrived, I had to carry my own luggage to my room. Nobody to point me in the direction of the room also. Also when checking out, the doorman was missing. I had to hold the heavy luggages in one hand on the other hand hold the open the door before it closed. It was a hassle. The people in the front desk can be more friendly and smiling. Lastly, the food was quite good but some items were missing. I wanted to to order pasta but they said that all italian dishes were unavailable even though they had it on the menu. Also, they ran out of most of their food in the breakfast buffet in the morning. You have to come early otherwise most of the food will be gone. They don't have enough for every guest. Many items like chicken sausages, veg cutlets, muffins, etc., were missing. Not even one piece was there. I expect better from a 4 star hotel. It was an average experience.

Embarking on our South India tour from the UK, ***galore unexpectedly became a stopover, chosen for its proximity to the airport. Opting for the AJ Grand Hotel based on stellar reviews turned out to be a serendipitous decision. Situated in the heart of the city, the hotel provided convenient access to shopping, restaurants, and modern malls, all within a leisurely 30-minute walk. The reception staff's courtesy set a welcoming tone, ensuring a seamless check-in process. Our suite, impeccably clean with enhanced facilities, greeted us with an unexpected perk—an empty refrigerator, a thoughtful touch for personalising our stay with beverages and snacks. The hotel's two highly acclaimed restaurants surpassed expectations, offering a diverse array of delectable choices during main meal times. This meant that we rarely felt the need to explore dining options outside. Kudos to the entire restaurant staff, with a special mention for Ganesh, whose culinary insights enriched our menu selections, and Suresh, whose attentive service at breakfast was welcome. While the gym and swimming pool were compact, they proved functional and, more often than not, were a private sanctuary for our use. The potential future de***d for these facilities notwithstanding, our experience was one of undisturbed enjoyment. The reception staff, although not all adorned with name badges, stood out for their exceptional assistance. Their guidance in locating our boarding passes and travel documents for our onward journey was invaluable. We were particularly grateful for their considerate offer to extend our checkout time, seamlessly aligning with our travel arrangements—small gestures that made a significant difference. Having little prior knowledge of ***galore, we were pleasantly surprised by the city and its welcoming residents. Exploring the beach and other recommended sites, discovered through various YouTube videos, unveiled ***galore's potential as a future tourist attraction, perhaps even rivalling Goa in the future. However, we hope that the city ***ages to preserve its charm without succumbing to the challenges often associated with increased tourism. In conclusion, our stay at the AJ Grand Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable, and we who***eartedly recommend it as a top choice for future visitors. Warm regards, Prit and Punam

Booked 5 N package from 22nd Oct for family trip. 3N is suite room and 2N in presidential suite. For family of 4 like ours Suite room shld be apt. Moti mahal property is a bit old and hence slight room and plumbing issues due to which I cld not give 5 star. Negatives end here and the positive list continues 1) Accessible to all places near hampankatta. 2) Excellent reception staff, wld like to mention Roy and Anshul who were always ready to help,guide and resolve any issue highlighted,made our stay special. 3) Housekeeping team is full of simple staff, doing their job sincerely 4) They have veg,non veg and Thai restaurant if you want to dine in the hotel lots of delicious options to choose from. 5) Breakfast buffet is a decent spread, every day the spread changes and all dishes are delicious 6) All in all excellent place to stay when in namma Mangaluru, Left with fond memories, will definitely visit again.

Centrally located. Good front office service and room service. They have 2 restaurants, one vegetarian and the other bar and restaurant. The food is good in both the restaurants. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and neat. The look of the rooms are are more traditional like the rooms of 80’s. This place is centrally located and there is lot of shopping around. Overall a nice, comfortable and safe place to stay.

Very courteous and helpful staff, who booked my room in advance on phone though i was uncertain about my trip. Made payment later. Room was good though AC which wasn't working was rectified when brought to notice. Buffet breakfast simple and sumptuous. Help for arrangement of transport also readily done by reception staff. Hotel near main market so convenient.

The best hotel in Mangalore. The property is well maintained and staff is so helpful specially front office who provide all information nearest place to make our holiday memorable and makes your stay comfortable. Food is delicious . The main advantage is hotel is near by from all key attraction of Mangalore. Peacefully stay. Highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of visiting Mangalore on the 17th of October 2023, where I was greeted with a warm welcome despite my late arrival at night after a 12-hours long journey. One of the first things that captured my attention was a stunning wall-to-wall mural behind the front office desk. This remarkable artwork vividly depicted the cultural heritage of Karnataka, featuring Kola performances, Kambala races, and other local traditions that have gained recent pan-India popularity thanks to the movie ”Kantara.” It served as a captivating introduction to the exciting experiences that awaited me during my stay. Let's talk about the accommodation. The rooms were tastefully appointed and impeccably clean. I particularly appreciated the Skylight Suites, which, while lacking a balcony, featured a beautifully decorated and spacious sitting area with a skylight adjacent to the main room. This clever design made the room feel more expansive. However, it's worth mentioning that the washrooms could benefit from better ventilation. In terms of dining, the food was satisfactory, but I would suggest diversifying the menu to include more vegetarian options to cater to a wider range of preferences. Now, let me highlight the standout feature of my stay – the in-house transportation services provided by the hotel. They operated with exceptional efficiency, boasting well-maintained and spotlessly clean vehicles. The chauffeurs were not only punctual but also displayed the utmost professionalism. I must give a special commendation to Mr. Balraj, who not only ensured our smooth transport to the temples we had planned to visit but also offered valuable insights into darshan durations. His willingness to take us to additional temples during our journeys, such as the Mariamman Temple in Mangalore, Rajarajeshwari Temple in Polali, Bappanadu Parameshwari Temple in Mulki, and Uchchila Maha Lakshmi on the way to Udupi (and possibly more that I can't recall at the moment) was truly exceptional. His knowledge of cultural immersion opportunities, especially during Navratris, was remarkable, and he even introduced us to experiences like the Yakshagana performance at Kadri Manjunatheswar. As my trip had a strong focus on pilgrimage, his insights into these sacred places were invaluable. His careful and considerate approach as a driver was exemplary. Not once did he engage in rash driving, even in the challenging and treacherous forested, mountainous routes that we encountered. Furthermore, Mr. Balraj's helpful nature shone brightly throughout our journey. With my elderly parents accompanying me, his assistance was greatly appreciated. He went above and beyond to ensure their comfort and well-being, offering his support at every turn. His unwavering dedication to both our safety and enjoyment of the trip made him an indispensable part of our experience. Mr. Balraj truly embodies the spirit of excellence in service.
