Clean and modern hotel, great breakfast to start your day and most importantly it's 5 mins walk to Mannheim main train station and 2 mins walk to the tram station to Mannheim shopping district. Front office staff were welcoming and courteous, thanks for making my stay wonderful. Best part of the hotel is the view of the train station and absolutely zero noise from outside, which makes your stay very comfortable.

Ein kurzfristiger Besuch in Mannheim war der Grund des besuchs in diesem Hotel. Online hatte ich gesehen es gibt noch Zimmer, habe dann vor Ort direkt nachgefragt und eingecheckt. Das Check-inPersonal war sehr freuenlich und man fühlte sich gleich willkommen. Das Zimmer ist sauber und geräumig. Die Tiefgarage ist hell und hat genügend Platz auchfür etwas grössere Wagen. Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut - in wenigen Gehminuten ist man mitten in der Innenstadt.

Gerade diese Woche war ich noch am Standort Köln begeistert. Aber Mannheim liegt da noch eine komplette Schippe drauf. Freundlicher Empfang tolle Räume familiäres Ambiente. Genau das was man als Geschäftsreisen sonst immer vermisst. Hier wird man herzlich empfangen.

I've stayed at this hotel 9 or 10 times over the years, often with my wife. After this latest experience, never again! The problem started at check-in. The lady at Reception appeared to speak little German or English! I was tired after travelling all day and enquired about the Restaurant. She told me that it was unavailable due to a Group booking. Excuse me but I'm a paying guest at a supposedly 4-star hotel! As an aside, I wasn't even offered a ”Welcome Drink” which to which my status with my Accor Loyalty Card entitles me. Reception gave me a menu from an external Italian restaurant who would deliver - I phoned them but they were closed on a Sunday. So, she then gave me a menu from a Greek restaurant - I phoned them but they did no deliveries whatsoever. I went to see the Restaurant Manager who informed me that they have had a staffing problem for the last 3 months and, in any case, there was no food - i.e. a Restaurant with no staff and no supplies! So, I went hungry that night. I tried to have a shower before retiring but there was no hot water. So, hungry and unwashed! This is how Mercure treats its guests. Next morning, I wanted to have a shower before breakfast. There was still no water pressure, just a trickle of cold water. I phoned Reception and was told there was a technical problem in the boiler room but an engineer had been called - it wasn't fixed by the time I checked-out. I complained to Mercure Customer Service who were sympathetic and wrote to me that the Manager would resolve the problem and give me the refund I'd requested. Despite 3 reminders, I've had no contact from the Manager and no refund. This hotel and, more so, its management are ”not fit for purpose”. Mercure need to get their act together.

First off, understand that Ludwigshafen is not a happening place. I was here for business, for which I feel the place would be adequate for a day or two stay, but not the week I was here. I titled this as ”try hard”, as that's what I hear my kids call someone who is tries hard and fails, which I feel fits since the hotel tries really hard to be modern and hip. Moxy is Marriot's new brand aimed at the youth and the copies board games, lockers, random graffiti and whatnot scattered around the lobby would imply they are going that way. Considering most of the time it was filled with old businessmen like me would say they might want to consider having this in a more appropriate location. Moxy Lu is a very spartan hotel. No restaurant to speak of - on Sunday I asked if they had any lunch offerings as nothing is around there and they told me their one and only oven, used to cook breakfast, was broken and wouldn't be working for at least a few hours. There is a very solid Italian restaurant next door but you don't want to eat that every day. There's also right now a Christmas market nearby but the opening timing for it is very variable. It's also next to the Rhine mall but understand that German business hours are earlier than American so it closes early and is closed entirely on Sunday. Rooms are clearly advertised as capsule types and they are very reminiscent of Japanese capsule rooms - a bed, bathroom, a chair, and that's it. A hook on the wall and 4 hangers is all your clothes storage, a 6 inch wide, 2 foot long glass panel sticking out from the wall is your ”desk”, and that's it. No safe, no shelves, no coffee machine, nothing. Definitely not where I wanted to spend a week, but that's not their fault. The hotel is very new and is very clean overall. Also a plus that it is very quiet. I've been in hotels where I could literally hear the person walking around next door. All that said, why 3 stars? Well, as clean as it was, there was a long black hair at eye level in the shower when I first stepped in. As I'm folically challenged, I'm certain it wasn't mine. Secondly, one of the elevators broke multiple times while I was there, once trapping a person in there for 15 minutes while I was in the lobby. He eventually tumbled out, angry, scared, and half-clothed (took off some clothes as he was feeling very hot). Said elevator was not flagged as being out of order for at least an hour after as I was in and out. Eventually it was. It had an out of order sign still on it on my second day despite being in use...assumed this was an error before the guy got caught in front of me. Not good management of an issue, I feel.

Beim Austritt aus dem Fahrstuhl in den Flur ist die Richtungsangabe der Zimmer um ca.1m versetzt. Im Zimmer unter der Bettdecke lag ein ca. 30cm langes Haar und unter der Clobrille befand sich ein brauner Spritzer. Am Frühstücksbuffett war der Getränke-Automat für Orangensaft nicht nutzbar, hier hätte man Orangensaft in Flaschen hinstellen können. Die Butter war so hart, daß sie nicht streichbar war. Am Besteckkasten auf dem Tisch hing rote Marmelade, die mindestens noch vom Vortag war, da wir bereits um 6.15 Uhr gefrühstückt haben.

Very convenient hotel if you don't want to stay at Heidelberg City Center. Easy to find, enough parking lots, good rooms, convenient, clean and quiet.

Close Proximity to Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (train station, just approximately 8 minutes walk). I am amazed at the complete furniture, even microwaves to cook our breakfast for the following day. More like an apartment than just a hotel. Nice stay

The hotel was easy to reach from the Autobahn and there is enough parking space by the hotel. The parking is free and the rooms are nice, modern and big enough. The breakfast is OK and enough variety. We booked a second night, the staff is very nice and helpful. There is a tram nearby to get into town. We walked wich was a nice walk but far - therefor the old town is spread out a long woy. We took a ”lime scooter” back to the hotel - wich was fun - there a plenty room on the bikepathes. The hotel is nice and quited and the beds where good there I would recommend it. There is 24 hours check-in available.
