Don't let the name confuse you! “Tented camp” may sound like a rough place to stay, but this is pure luxury. Roika camp was very conveniently placed near the gate of Tarangire national Park (within minutes). My son and I were totally shocked when we saw the impeccable well-kept grounds, the beautiful welcoming hall, the elegant restaurant, with lovely service (by Mr Loiruck and Ms Janet). The architecture is breathtaking, the lounges and bars are really spacious. The restrooms are the cleanest and most well kept I've seen in the region. After the briefing (which included warnings of not to walk alone in the camp because of lions, elephants and leopards) two (real) Maasai warriors escorted to our “tents”. These were very beautiful permanent tents, with roofs and a large comfortable beautiful adjoining bathroom with running hot water. Large comfortable beds with soft sheets and mosquito netting. We had a fabulous dinner, followed by hanging out at the Rhino-bar till late in the evening. Since we wanted to catch the morning activity in the park, we asked for a 5am Breakfast. The staff, without hesitation said: Yes! Though our stay was short, the warm welcome, the beautiful facilities, the professional service, will make this memory a special one for me, and I am hoping to return here one day with the rest of my family.
