This was definitely an older 'bubble economy' style hotel but the service level and amenities and rooms were high, not much lower than any Ryokan we stayed in! It's walking distance from the Dogo onsen tram station, through the shopping arcade and then quite a bit more up a slight slope (we had sent our hand luggage from the JR Matsuyama station earlier in the day for 600yen per piece - definitely recommended!) - a nice walk except it was pouring cats and dogs and we were a family of 5 sharing 2 small umbrellas. They spotted us walking over and quickly came to ask my name and prep the front desk with a guy with an umbrella and my reservation ready for check-in. The architecture and the lobby are very Taisho-Roman inspired and they quickly found appropriately sized kid yukata for my 3 kids (no mean feat since this was a 3 year old boy, and 5 and 7 year old girls) complete with cute heko obi and even zori for the kids! Very very cute. We booked a premium room (with hinoki bathtub, Japanese style) and were very impressed by the amenities: 2 separated toilet rooms, the famed hinoki bathtub with direct onsen water tap, two big tatami rooms for our 5 futon, a little sofa area with a humidifier which we used extensively, genkan with kettle, coffee machine (which makes tea as well) and fully filled fridge with mineral water, two different small packs of the famed Mikan juice and I think there might have been beer (we don't drink so I don't recall), all part of the room price. The room came with dinner at the restaurant, all in separated private rooms, full kaiseki style (I distinctly remember this being the full Ryokan treatment even though it was just a hotel). The Iyo beef shabu shabu was melt-in-your-mouth absolutely delicious, and quite a rare beef brand I don't see often exported so a must-try! They also catered very well to my young kids including cute kid chairs and there was even a tv in the private room to entertain them after they were done. The kids meal was equally gorgeous full of kid-friendly dishes. The service by the servers for dinner was impeccable. After dinner the room was turned down with very fluffy and comfy futons, and I managed to sneak off to try the female onsen bath - amazing especially the rotenburo! In the morning breakfast was a buffet which worked out well for us with kids. And they even offered us a shuttle bus ride back to the station (but I believe on their website they stated no shuttle bus to pick you up from the station). We didn't manage to do that much sightseeing in Matsuyama which was a pity because it's a lovely little town (will pick a less rainy timing next time) but all the more we will come back next time and stay here again!

Of all the many lodging options on this trip, this one is the best. It scores highest marks in every category, from location to meals to service. It is near a busy shopping arcade. Just down the incline is a foot bath next to a mechanical clock which has moving parts on the hour. Many people stood around it to view the action. The arcade is interesting too. I bought a bag of clementines -- very sweet, 400yen/KG. The onsen is so relaxing and no one there except for a father and young son. We were in room # 1503 in an annex connected to the main building by a long corridor. No English television channels, huge balcony with view, and 2 Western-style twin beds. Dinner was in a private structure next to the river -- Kawaseki. Getting down there from the ryokan was not smooth. We had total privacy. The food was brought down by large bento boxes filled with seafood, soup, side dishes. So delicious. The newspaper is delivered to the room. The breakfast was just as wonderful as the dinner. Too bad we stayed only one night. This is the only lodging I wish we could have stayed longer.

The location is great as it is right next to the Dogo Onsen, restaurants and sightseeing area. You can walk around after taking a hot spring. They are cyclist friendly as well. As long as your bicycle is covered, you can bring it to your room. Otherwise, you have to park it at the parking area in front of the hotel.

湯快リゾート道後彩朝楽（ゆかいりぞーとどうごさいちょうらく）は、愛媛県松山市道後姫塚（えひめけんまつやましどうごひめづか）にある温泉ホテルだ。2022年4月15日、この日はシーパセオに乗って呉から松山観光港にやってきた。 そこから車で、以前歩いた梅津寺（ばいしんじ）を通過。 ここには海水浴場があり、ドラマ「東京ラブストーリー」のロケ地として世代的に思い出深い場所だ。その時泊まった旅籠屋の前を通過。 道後温泉の温泉街にやってきた。目的のホテルは、温泉街から奥まった場所にある。 この日泊まる湯快リゾート道後彩朝楽（ゆかいりぞーとどうごさいちょうらく）に到着。駐車場は建物の奥にあり、とても広い。建物は、かなり古そうだ。道後温泉のホテルなのに、風呂は鈍川温泉（にぶかわおんせん）の湯を持ってきているそうだ。 内部はこんな感じ。まずフロントでチェックイン。 この日は4階の414号室。この日はスムースに鍵を開けられたおばあ。和室で、布団を既にしいているのは湯快リゾートらしい。10畳で、テレビと戸棚。窓からは向かいのマンションがよく見える（苦笑）冷蔵庫と金庫。洗面台と大浴場に行くのでたぶん使わないが、バスタブもある。トイレは温水便座。wifiはあるが、速度はイマイチ。 さっそく大浴場に行ってきた。道後温泉のホテルなのに、風呂は鈍川温泉のお湯だ。しかし鈍川温泉は俺の大好きな温泉で、気に入ってリピートしている。 しかしここの湯はヌルヌル感が少ないように感じられた。各種割引をおばあが駆使して、1泊2食付き2名で9,000円ほどと激安で泊まれた。湯快リゾートはwifiがないホテルがほとんどだったが、ここには一応あるだけまし。この時間は既に激重になっていた(汗；) 夕食会場は、1階のレストラン。バイキング形式で自由席だった。俺はこんな感じ。翌日、朝食も同じレストランでバイキング。俺は蕎麦メインで取ってみた。おばあはこんな感じ。2回目もガッツリ（笑）チェックアウトし、車で先に進んだ。 湯快リゾート道後彩朝楽 愛媛県松山市道後姫塚112番地１ 0570-550-078

道後温泉に近く立地は申し分ないが、宿のおかみさんの不愛想で残念。ろくろく挨拶もない。15：30頃に行ったら「チェックインは16時にして」とぶっきら棒にいわれた。料金は安いしペットOKの宿がほかに無いのであまり文句は言えないが…しかもペット料金は請求なし（もちろんペット用グッズは何もない）だから。 施設も昭和レトロで古く、今どき重い布団なんてないなぁ。風呂にはシャワーがなく（男性はある）蛇口から出る湯がちょろちょろで、体を洗うのに大変。多くは共同のトイレ。洗面台もとってつけたようなお湯さえ出ないお粗末なもの。全体を改修しないと無理でしょうが…部屋は４階まであるが。当然エレベーターはない。 食事は部屋出し（食堂がないので）。料理は特別なものではないけど、品数も多くとてもこの料金では出せないよなぁと思ったくらい。味も良かった。

一泊二日二食付きプランで申し込みしました。外観は古く見えるけれど、中はレストランをはじめモダンで明るい印象。フロントの方はベテランな方が多く親切でしたし、レストランは繁忙期だからか学生さんっぽい若い方が多かったですが、初々しい感じも含め好感が持てました。夕食のメインが事前のリクエスト情報が間違っていたようだったけれど、すぐ対応してくれて助かりました。ディナー時のビュッフェと朝食時のビュッフェの内容が違っていたのも変化があって良いなと思いました（夜のビュッフェでしか見かけなかったシェルパスタとカボチャのグラタンなどしつこすぎないいい加減の味でした）。商店街や道後温泉本館から至近、口コミを見て宿泊予約をしましたが、駐車代金800円/日は高く感じたけれど、気持ち良い滞在ができ、リピートしたくなるホテルでした。

Just a 2 minute walk away from the famous Honkan, Hakuro Hotel was one of the best hotel experiences of Japan. Compared to a business hotel I am writing from now which is more than double the price and has a horrible service, the Hakuro Hotel exceeded all expectations. - The staff is super kind, despite limited English they really go out of their way to help you. - The breakfast buffet was one of the best we have had in Japan. Lots of seasonal fresh fruits and wide choice of really good food. - Parking on the premises was easy and fair (1000¥ for a night) and right in front of of the hotel with parking spots that actually fit a large Vellfire. - The Onsen was modern and just perfect to soak in after a long hiking day. - The amenities were great (nice yukata etc.) Next time in town, we will definitely come back here.

We loved almost everything about Bettei Oborozukiyo. It has a classic Japanese aesthetic, but is actually quite new, modern, stylish and fresh (it was established in 2015.) It's also small, private and quaint - it consists of only 19 rooms, which is a big departure from many of the mega hotels that litter the Dogo Onsen landscape. And it's only a short walking distance away from the main tourist sites in the area. All in all, we couldn't have asked for much more than what Bettei Oborozukiyo offered. We booked a ”G-Type Special Room with Open-Air Bath” (Room #307, ”Oborozuki” to be specific), the highest room category at the property. It's a nicely laid out and tastefully furnished and decorated suite room that features not one but two open-air, free-flowing Onsen (hot springs) baths. One is small bath (large enough for only one person) and is completely open air, while the second Onsen is much larger, and can be either fully enclosed or open-air, depending on whether you open all of the sliding glass windows. You really get the best of both worlds here. We had the smaller Onsen set to a hotter temperature and used it to quickly warm up our bodies, while the larger Onsen was set to a slightly lower temperature - allowing us to spend a longer amount of time enjoying the bath. It was pure bliss. It's worth noting that every single room at Bettei Oborozukiyo has at least one open-air Onsen bath, which is a real luxury and probably the main reason people would visit Dogo Onsen in the first place. And the Onsen hot springs water comes from the same source as the one used by the famous Dogo Onsen Honkan public bath house, so you know that it's going to be a special experience. A few other advantages of our room - it featured two separate toilets (Mrs. KI-NRT loves separate toilets!), and a bedroom that is completely separated from the main living area, which allowed her to take a peaceful nap while I was conducting a video conference with business partners. Meals for all guests are served in private dining rooms, which was nice (although if we were to nitpick, we prefer to be served in our the actual room that we're staying in.) And the Kaiseki meal was delicious and beautifully presented. While it was not the best meal we've ever had, all of the ingredients were locally-sourced and super fresh, especially the awesome seafood that was offered (including sashimi-style.) And the Iyo Beef Sirloin ”Shabu Shabu” hot pot was a great way to enjoy the local meat delicacy. Both dinner and breakfast were served by Riyo Miyauchi, a charming, engaging and enthusiastic young lady who was born and raised in the area, prompting us to ask many questions about the region and learning a great deal about Ehime as a result (especially the food.) Given that Japan was in the middle of a big pandemic wave, it was great to be able to enjoy top quality Onsen in the comfort of our room, without having to result to the communal bath at Bettei Oborozukiyo, or at Dogo Onsen Ho

道後温泉なのになぜか英国？ その不思議を探るために予約。 　 客室は、セミダブルルームなので18㎡とちょっと狭いが ウィリアム・モリスの壁紙で完全に英国！ 家具類も完全に英国。道後にいることを忘れそう。 冷蔵庫や電気ポット、ティセット、空気清浄機なども完備。 バスルームは、狭いユニットバスだが 大浴場があるので問題なし。 アメニティは歯磨きセットや髭剃り、ブラシなど。 シャンプーやコンディショナーのほかに ハンドソープやシェービングフォーム、 化粧水やクリームなど充実。 大浴場はきちんと道後からのお湯。癖のないお湯。 奥に小さな露天があるが景色もない(=_=) サウナもあったがスタッフのミスで熱くない。 夕食はフレンチのフルコース。 あまり期待していなかったが きちんとした料理で味も悪くない。 ワインも充実していて満足だった。 ただ朝食は和食を選んだが美味しくない。 ご飯はもちろん味噌汁はインスタント以下？ 洋食を選んだ方が良かったのか？ チェックアウトが12時なので 浴衣姿で道後温泉本館などへも出かけられる。 かごやタオルの貸し出しもあり。 スタッフはちょうど研修生の多い時期だったので 評価はできない。
