In addition to being located in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and having an incredible view of the island, I have never experienced such kindness from the staff. Always attentive, ready to advise you and full of little attentions to you, It is completely impossible to be disappointed. We really can't wait to come back. Thank you all for making this trip so magical.

Xara Palace is *thisclose* to being a perfect hotel. Our agent booked us here for the last night of our honeymoon so that we could experience Mdina at night, and it was a great choice on their part. We were immediately given complimentary prosecco and sparkling water while waiting in the beautiful lobby for staff to finish preparing the room and take our luggage up for us. The suite itself, room no. 8 - deluxe suite with panoramic view, is *nearly* flawless. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were a bit thin and the comforter too heavy for May weather. The only complaint regarding the bedroom is the air conditioner: there is both a built-in wall control right by the front door that only allows for adjusting fan speed and temperature AND a remote control with more features; however, the system only responded to the built-in wall control and would only click on when the temperature was set to ridiculously cold values (＜15 C), which, of course, the room would never reach. Additionally, there was no need for the 5 PM turndown service, as we were only staying one night. The bathroom was also very nice - very clean, well-lit, nice soaking tub, and we appreciated the toiletry bottles not being watered-down or chained to the shower wall. We would have appreciated a double vanity, but that's a space restriction we can't ding Xara on. However, what we can ding them on, and what reduces our review of Xara Palace from five to four stars, is the fatal error of no working power outlet in the bathroom. There is a euro-plug (why not UK?) "shavers only" outlet next to the mirror that does not, in fact, receive any power - we tested this with multiple devices, including shavers, toothbrushes, the hair dryer, and our own independent power adapter that has a current indicator; no combination of devices or light switches located anywhere in the suite delivered any power to this outlet. This meant that our electric toothbrushes had to be charged in the bedroom using the outlets under the TV and I had to move the shaving mirror to the same location to use the hair dryer, which was, frankly, a ridiculous inconvenience for a hotel at this price point. Additionally, the lower toilet flush button did not work. If Xara Palace wishes to advertise itself as a five-star luxury hotel, it simply cannot afford to make such trivial and simple-to-fix bathroom errors. That all said, we thank Silvia and the Xara Palace team for providing us a wonderful end-of-honeymoon stay!

The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Our room (no 9) overall was excellent, comfortable and well appointed with lots of wardrobe and drawer space. The bathroom was huge with a bath tub and a walk in shower . There was ample surface space for toiletries and a proper door. There were a couple of issues with TVs not working as they should, which was not fully resolved, but staff attempted to do so as soon as we notified them. The quality of the continental (included) breakfast however was disappointing. The fruit platter was small and got smaller each day with less and less variety. The yogurts were basic supermarket-standard and not befitting the expected quality of a prestigious hotel. We did not allow this to ruin what was a lovely stay. If you have the chance to visit this hotel I would recommend you do so.

On entering through main gates turning right and taking a short walk along narrow historic streets you will arrive at Xara Palace and from you first sighting to the moment you leave you will not be disappointed.

A charming, small hotel in a beautiful and unique, historic location in Mdina at the centre of the island. The staff were lovely and helpful. Our room had a great sized bedroom, leading to a bathroom suite. There was a staircase leading to a mezzanine level with sofa, and a balcony with a hot tub where we enjoyed spectacular views of the island. The doorway to the balcony was low but not a problem. The breakfast was plentiful with pristine linens and friendly staff. The trattoria restaurant was closed during our visit and we did not dine at the Michelin starred restaurant (except for breakfast). There are some highly ranked restaurants in nearby Rabat, just a short walk away, which we enjoyed visiting very much. Overall, this is a classy and quiet hotel and we felt pleased that we decided to stay. Valletta and other coastal spots are easily reachable by bus or taxi (Uber /Bolt operate too).

I had checked in on 22nd Jan to celebrate my 50th birthday eve. It was a milestone birthday on the 23rd and I was bedazzled to receive a beautiful birthday wish at breakfast, first thing on the 23rd morning while we sat at De Mondion. I was amazed at the care and attention besides amazing breakfast. The rooms were elegant and tastefully done up and the whole property exuded a very majestic Maltese charm. I enjoyed our walks all around MDina and the views late evening and early mornings when there were no day tourists and we could walk around and enjoy the medieval charm of MDina. We will definitely return.

Extremmely well located in Malta , close to all spots, in a quiet city of Mdina. A building full of history and comfortable. Service is top quality and the jacuzzi on the terrasse is absolutely fabulous !
