We stayed in this hotel for four nights during a visit to Milan and the northern Italian lakes. I had visited Milan a few times before but this was the first time we stayed here. Overall it was a very good experience. The hotel is conveniently located for a tourist visit to Milan. Not in the busiest part of the center of the city, but sufficiently close and with a metro station very close by that allows you to get to most sights and museums swiftly. There is also a limousine service provided by the hotel to the city center but we didn’t use that. We booked a superior room: spacious with a nice bathroom with separate bathtub and shower (something I like). The furnishing of the room was very stylish and in tune with the rest of the hotel. The room was on a side of the hotel which was fairly quiet. A good bed (a bit soft for my taste, but one adapts). Fresh fruit in the room and every day fresh water for the both of us. We didn’t use the mini-bar but it looked well-stocked. Good-sized safe. Overall good service as regards make-up of the room, turn-down service, etc. My better half enjoyed the pool. We didn’t use the spa services. Breakfast was good without being exceptional, but if you are into a big breakfast lots of additional possibilities are available. We did eat dinner at the restaurant one evening (we usually prefer to explore and eat outside). That was very good with excellent food, a very good selection of wine (obviously heavily tilted to the Italian side), a some nice extra options (I enjoyed a very good port after dinner). Overall service was excellent, friendly and very professional in all departments. The hotel and its facilities and furnishings are very nice, with a lot of nice design touches. All very traditional, luxurious yet tasteful. A very nice touch was that when we got back to our room in the afternoon of the birthday of my better half we found a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and a nice birthday cake. A very nice personal touch which we greatly appreciated. This is obviously not an economy hotel, but I would recommend it highly. It lives up to its luxury rating and really impressed me with its professionalism and service. Worth its price. Would certainly book there again if I went back to Milan.

Our room was quiet and lovely, the staff most helpful, the public spaces inviting and calming, the breakfast at the rooftop bar area amazing, and the neighborhood location proved to be central to all the sites we wanted to visit. We wished we had one more day there.

It is very true that a picture and an image tell their own powerful story! When my husband Guy and I arrived back at the Westin Hotel from Florence, Guy got down on the floor of the hotel reception on both knees to offer a prayer of thanks to Riccardo, the Head Concierge of the Magical Concierge Team. This is how grateful and delighted we were with the services of the Concierge team of Riccardo, Andrea and Silvia. Riccardo was unphased by us not having made Porter reservations for the Railway station. He said he would find a way to help for us with our large luggage. The combination of Riccardo’s skills and connections achieved a mini miracle; our taxi driver to Milan station had been briefed on how to secure porter assistance and the plan was executed with military precision. A young man appeared from nowhere to provide this assistance. This type of service can only be achieved by a Magical Concierge Team. Riccardo, Andrea and Silvia also scored perfection on our return journey from Florence to Milan. As the train arrived at Milan Central, Porter Andrea was holding up a sign with my name on it with the universal thumbs up signal. Watching this Porter lift two suitcases weighing around 20 kilos each from the overhead baggage rack as though they were a feather, was astonishing. Between them Porter Andrea and Mario, the driver of the chauffeur service ensured a seamless arrival back at the Westin. We recommend this Concierge team without any hesitation as the best.

We selected the hotel for its reputation as a flagship, luxury property within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. We booked a 3 night stay at the beginning of a 3 week trip through Italy,. The hotel has a majestic presence in a wonderful, central Milan location. The common areas of the hotel have magnificent architectural details and are beautifully appointed. The staff is universally professional and well-trained. We were pleasantly greeted upon checking in and assigned a room that we were looking forward to after traveling close to 24 hours end-to-end from our home in California. The room was badly worn and very disappointing. The leather on the exterior of the door was literally peeling off. Inside; the leather headboard was also in horrible condition; the leather desk chair had holes in it and showed considerable wear; the leather-covered drawers were worn through and peeling; and the long wood laminate counter was badly chipped. The room should have been renovated years ago, and certainly had no place being in a 5-star, luxury hotel. We were exhausted from our long journey, otherwise we would have requested a change in rooms. We unpacked and prepared to refresh with a shower when we realized that the temperature control for the shower was not functioning. We called the front desk and they promptly sent up a tech. He worked on it and then summoned another associate. Neither could fix it. We called the front desk again, and they said that they’d move us to another room within 10-15 minutes. We packed up everything and waited. About an hour passed and I went down to the front desk to personally discuss the matter and find out why we had not been moved. The desk clerk was very kind, and stated that they were still working on finding us another room. He stated that the hotel is very aware of the condition of the rooms, but doesn’t want to close off any rooms for renovation when the hotel is busy during prime season. He assured me that the new room would be ready soon and that they would be moving us to a “much larger” one. Finally, after waiting about 2 hours, we were moved to our new room. Again, the leather on the door was badly peeling and should have been replaced. The room was not substantially larger, and seemed roughly the same size as the first one. Overall, it was badly worn, the carpet had stains in it, and the bathroom had mildew in the grout around the shower/tub. The bathroom felt dirty. Upon checking out, the desk manager asked me how our stay was before realizing that she recognized our name. She told me that our situation had come up in a staff meeting and that the hotel wanted to try and make things right by offering to credit our Bonvoy account for one of the three nights of our stay. While this gesture was appreciated, the experience at the hotel was extremely disappointing. I fell for the fish (pan-fried crustaceans).............heavenly. So , if you want a small boutique hotel that aims to be your home away from home..............then try the........... Service is unparalleled, the room is a little bit dated though there was some wear and tear on the furniture. It’s more of a 4 star hotel than a 5 star due to the age and wear and tear of the furnishings. I’ve been at better 4 star hotels at less than half the price so it’s a bit disappointing in that regard. Service is excellent, the staff go above and beyond for their guests. They were able to get my menstrual pads, toothpastes and wine glasses. The lovely staff at concierge even gave us bar snacks for our byo wine and when I first checked in, a map with recommendations of what to see. Shame the room doesn’t match the service.

Pros: - Location: (Walking) Porta Nuova (6mins), Corso Como (8mins), Brera Art Gallery (15mins), Monumental Cemetery (17mins), The Fashion District (20mins). - Bathroom amenities: Soap bar, combined shampoo/body wash, shower cap, hairdryer. - Free in-room WiFi (average speed approx. 29Mbps). - Quiet at night. Cons: - Room design is rather impracticle: no chair with back if you need to work (only a pouf stool), small desk not deeper than a laptop, almost no storage spaces, very dimly lit, bright neon light for the keycard slot that you cannot disable during sleep, in-room safe not large enough for a tablet or laptop, no door on bathroom area (so if you travel with someone else, make sure you are comfortable seeing each other intimately). - Breakfast is quite odd and overpriced. Located in the reception area, you can see and overhear all the discussions with guests (or gossip among staff about guests, which we found rather unprofessional!). A set menu plate with no choice (so we had a lot of food wastage). No standard items, ie. no fruit yoghurt, no cereal, no pastries (only a mini donut and mini muffin), no fresh fruit, no hot food, savory items only a couple of slices of ham and cheese from a plastic supermarket packet. Same items every day, mainly bread-based. - Staff need more training for a 4-star hotel. Check-in was slow, used toiletries not replenished when cleaning rooms, unprofessional staff behaviour as mentioned above. - Quality of towels and toiletries very low (more suited to a 3-star hotel). - Many fire escape maps in the hallways are completely incorrect, wrong room numbers and wrong hallway designs. Terrific breakfast. Staff cordial and helpful but not really friendly. It felt like they were just doing their job. For price I expected a bit bigger room. It was pretty sp****. Just the basics. Shower doors didn’t shut properly so bathroom floor was wet and slippery. My room was tucked away in the back with no view at all. It was close to restaurants which was nice. I honestly would not stay there again for the price they charge.

I do not know, where the ’palazzo’ name comes from, but this is no palace in any way. However, it’s rather nice hotel in rather good location. Design is stylish and environment calm. Check-in was very efficient, it took about 2 minutes. We had a good penthouse suite. There was good shower and good bed. Separate luggage room. Tv in both bedroom and living room. Breakfast was good, partly served to table, partly buffet. Only downside was preordered transportation from the airport. First driver called of being a little late while we didn’t have departed yet. So, he was 4 hours ahead of schedule. When we did arrive, he was not there. I called, and he arrived 10 minutes late. Then he drove 172 km/h on the motorway (GPS speed), and in the city several times ahead of read lights. If the driver thinks, he is good, he is wrong. He was about the worst I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen quite many.
