Booked for two nights. I arrived at 9 am and was able to get in my room early , checked in by a professional friendly young guy ( I didn't get his name) with a cold refreshing fruit drink. The room was very disappointing on the ground floor, very dark and you had to shut your curtains for privacy. The room was very basic, old electrical sockets, tatty falling apart furniture, bathroom had a lot of maintenance issues, toilet seat loose, things hanging off their brackets. Drawers and wardrobe broken. The window from the bathroom looked out to a dirty inner enclosure with a roof that constantly had water pouring off it and was noisy all the time. ( another reviewer mentioned this) The room was so dismal I spent as little time in it as possible. Both nights the shower was cold. They never cleaned my room the second day. The young male staff spent all their time sat by the dining area not the reception, which also made it difficult to identify staff. They could have used their time for repairs and cleaning. The pool area was a bonus but it really did not look inviting, and why use the pool when you have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world a minutes walk away? The breakfast was served at 8 am which is quite late and was very poor in comparison to all my other accommodation in Sri Lanka. With hardly any choice for vegetarians, it consisted of cold toast, egg, sausages, fruit, pancakes and some cake. No local dishes or drinks provided. I missed the second day as I had to leave early. I returned for the evening just after 10 pm to find the gate locked to the property. No answer from the bell, I also called the hotel contact numbers , no reply. With a lot of shouting, one of the other guests let me in. A very poor experience especially for a single female. I believe all the staff went out for a drinking session! The hotel says luxury budget hotel. It is anything but luxury, it was the worst hotel I stayed in on my tour of Sri Lanka. It has potential but the Management do not have hospitality skills and it lacks maintenance. The only positive is it's location to the beach and facilities. There are much nicer places to stay in Mirissa, I wish I had chosen something better.
