Hartfell Guest House

The house is lovely. It was clean and within walking distance to the shops. However I gave it an average rating because I specifically asked if the scrambled eggs were cooked in the microwave and they said no. They clearly were when they arrived as they looked like nothing I have ever seen. Scrambled eggs cooked properly on the hob have a creamy curd like appearance. These had long strings of egg which was truly disgusting. The smoked salmon was mixed in so I could not eat that either. If the cook could take a few minutes to make proper scrambled eggs on the hob they could get a much higher score. Little things really matter.

This was a perfect location for a brief stay in Scotland with plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants within 5-10 minutes walking distance from Hartfell House. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay with an on-site EV charger, free reliable Wi-Fi and free breakfast included. Overall this was a really enjoyable break and we would not hesitate to book here again in future. Thanks, Andy & Debi

We were only able to stay one night as we were travelling on but would recommend to anyone. Really friendly owner nice clean well appointed room and excellent breakfast....thank you Moffat is a lovely little town close to the border of England

I had asked for a quiet room at the rear of the house and got room 7. Didn’t really need this as Hartfell is near the end of a cul- de -sac. An imposing Victorian building with lovely architectural features. Rob and Marie are very good hosts. The breakfast was top quality with local ingredients served in the opulent dining room.

Hartfell House is in a very peaceful location, yet only a short walk from all amenities in Moffat. Great welcome and service from friendly hosts. The room was very clean and we had lots of space. Breakfast was very filling and delicious. B&B just as it should be!

I've stayed at Hartfell House many times over the years and have yet to have a problem with my stays. The building is a lovely old house with many original features retained but has the modern features you'd expect of a B&B. Its also fantastically convenient for travellers on the A74(M)/M74 route to and from Central Scotland, which is when I usually stay here. The shower was a decent temperature and had good flow and my room was spacious and very clean Unfortunately the restaurant is no longer open (or at least wasn't during my stay) but its only a short walk down to Moffat itself

A five minute walk from centre of Moffat up a hill with plenty of free car parking. Spotlessly clean with added advantage of having the town’s best restaurant according to TripAdvisor. Lost point for late entry to residency of 4pm and fixed breakfast times of 8-9am…..more importantly no tattie scones on the breakfast menu!

What a delightful, friendly place. Simple good service, lovely room, fabulous breakfast. No fuss, good Wi-Fi and parking in sight of our window. Lovely shower (essential in the heat we’ve had,) and a spacious well presented room.

The hotel was highly recommended by a family member and we were fortunate to book the last available room. We received a warm and friendly welcome and were more than happy with the comfortable and attractively furnished room. We booked dinner at the in-house Lime Tree restaurant and both our meals were beautifully presented and delicious. Breakfast was equally good. Sadly we were only able to spend one night in Moffat but we enjoyed walking around the very friendly town and admired many of the lovely gardens. If we find ourselves passing through (or even nearby) Moffat again we will certainly stay at the HH again.
