Esjan

We stayed in the Esjan bus over Christmas and had the most amazing experience, two short buses from Reykjavik (30 mins) heated glamping buses with beautiful views and facilities, hot showers, Cockerell, cats n beautiful walks....just perfect!

Esjan was a lovely property to stay at! We stayed in November and I was worried it would be freezing but it was actually very warm and toasty inside the bus, the shared bathroom was a few steps away, and the bed was super comfortable. We brought food to eat in and played cards that we brought on the dining room table. Gorgeous view to wake up to. Only thing to note is that you HAVE to call the owner upon arrival - there is no check in desk, so plan for that with your phone and any international calling plans you may have, as this was a setback at first as we could not call out with our phone when we first got there. There is free wifi and you can connect to it once you arrive.

I was supposed to stay at this place for two nights with my family. We talked with the owner twice before coming. Both times she confirmed that we had a “bus” for two days. We arrived after 6 hours with to kids. We met the woman who welcomed us with “OH I thought you were coming tomorrow” With two crying kids in my arms I heard the woman “sorry, I don’t know what kind of witchcraft this is. Now I have to bring my car to the mechanic” She offered us a free night the next day without payment and drove away. We tried contacting her to confirm the agreement - She never answered!!! We had two were stressed and expensive nights in Reykjavik. Trying to find room for us and two kids in last moment. It is the most unloving, careless way I have ever seen any person treat a family.

The experience is unique, the view of the Mountain is great. More of a campsite than a hostel. Must have your own transportation.

You must be able to make a call to local number to be able to get the keys. Old buses. Very uncomfortable beds (bunk bed). Kids enjoyed the new experience

Four of us stayed at Esjan (in two different buses), and we had a lovely time. The beds were more comfortable than I expected, and it was a quiet and peaceful place to start adjusting to the time zone. (Until the rooster woke us up in the morning, but I guess that *also* helped us adjust to the time zone). The buses were surprisingly comfortable, and the VIEWS were amazing.

Excellent stay. Fun, comfortable accommodations. Not the fault of the property, but no food or grocery accommodations close by.

This is one of the most unusual and coolest accomodations I have stayed ever! The bus was very clean and practical for a family of four. Only minus was that the bunkbed didnt have a rail so one of the parents had to sleep on the top bed. The service house was very good and close. Our girls think this was the best stay we had during our 2 week travel in Iceland. We didnt see the owner the whole time we were there but did get info as a message. Lots of cats, chickens and a rooster in the yard. Also a trampolin for kids, though it was too wet when we were there.

Posto assolutamente incredibile. Poter dormire in un bus ottimamente adattato stile camper e' stato veramente fantastico. I servizi igienici sono all'esterno ( e perfettamente in ordine ). all'interno massima comodita' dei letti e funzionalita' dell'angolo cottura. possibilita' anche di escursioni sul monte Esja ( proprio alle spalle dei bus ). Super consigliato
