Staying at the Shangri La Al Husn Muscat has been one of the highlights of our time in the Middle East. We decided to go for my girlfriends birthday and the team worked exceptionally well with me to deliver a unforgettable experience. Getting to the Shangri La was a bit of a challenge and taxis do not come cheap in Oman. Though it was not challenging I do wish there was a pickup/drop off option for the guests. The inclusive breakfast was wonderful and ordering off the menu assured that everything you ordered stayed fresh. There was a mixup with our order due to a language barrier but the food was still phenomenal. The in room breakfast and room service was a highlight as it allowed you to take full advantage of the room and with the inbuilt heaters in the dining table assured the food stayed hot. The value for money on in room dining was disappointing as an order of a burger and fries came with a small amount of fries, however that was fixed with our next order. The afternoon tea was delicious, highlights being the fromage and watermelon and the scones. Each afternoon tea was different and kept the palate excited. The happy hour beverages were also included and always came with a suprise canapé from the restaurant. In terms of the staycation, it was perfect. The interior and exterior of the hotel is beautiful and the sound of the ocean left you relaxed for the stay. I would like to raise that there was a lot of sealife by the beach which deterred us from swimming in the sea as we had heard a lot about the Omani coast and didn’t have much confidence in the beach patrol and lifeguards there. We noticed some playing on their phones but they were always happy to assist taking a picture for the two of us. I would suggest a more upfront approach when it comes to what you can expect in the sea there. A visitors lounge was also available allowing you to take full opportunity of the facilities till you left for your next adventure.

Al Husn hotel has a great location and all the staff are extremely friendly and attentative. However, breakfast time can be a little chaotic due to lack of staff and many tables are left uncleared causing delays for person coming in for breakfast.

Wonderful hotel, staff are amazing and so kind and attentive. Wherever you eat, the quality really is outstanding, so much choice and variety. Pool or beach, lifeguards always on hand, as are the support staff, always there with a smile and chat but never intrusive.

This hotel is incredible. The staff remember your names at meal times, the added touch of an ice bucket by the pool with cool water, juice and Evian cooling spray is great! Even the standard rooms look out onto the pool and are spacious and well appointed. The free mini bar stocked with Fererro roches is great. Narayan at the pool is a real asset to the team and he is fab! Would not hesitate to stay here again!

OMG - you will not be disappointed - one of the best hotels and in an incredible location with outstanding service and incredibly friendly staff that just want to make your stay the best ever. Mostafa / Tarek and the team make the dream work and when Said comes round the pool everyday with your cold drinks cooler and cleans your glasses for you - you feel on top of the world and know you are in safe hands.

This hotel really was everything we were hoping it would be. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient, the rooms were spacious, comfortable and had every amenity you could possibly want, and the scenery surrounding the hotel was just beautiful. As it is part of a resort of three hotels, there were plenty of places to walk off the extra calories, a lazy river and even a car museum. We were amazed at how much was complimentary too - drinks in a cool box by the pool or on the beach, afternoon tea with stunning views, and finally drinks in the evening with live musical entertainment. Add to that most items in the room minibar, and it really made the whole experience feel as if you were definitely getting value for money. We ate in most of the restaurants during our stay and enjoyed all of them, particularly the buffet at Al Tanoor which had something to suit everyone. Even when we had a slight issue with our bill at the end, the problem was resolved swiftly and efficiently and we were waved off like royalty! We would highly recommend this hotel and Oman as a whole, as we were treated with kindness wherever we went and the scenery is just stunning.

We had the most amazing time at Al Husn. The staff are so polite, attentive and courteous. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed most comfortable. The rooms are not at all outdated, they are just in a certain style. Whilst we considered the non-buffet restaurants expensive, the Al Tanoor buffet offered an extensive choice of well prepared dishes and the breakfast menu was outstanding. We really appreciated the cool boxes with water & juice whilst on the beach and the fruit skewers! I had an excellent massage at Luban Spa, which was not expensive. We didn’t pay the extra for the afternoon tea and cocktails. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we visit Oman again, we would choose to stay at Al Husn:)

I’ve stayed at many hotels and even Shangri-La Dubai but this is the only hotel I’ve seen offer a free mini bar, complementary afternoon tea and complementary evening drinks. Some other hotels may offer something similar but only as part of a lounge or club access. At Al Husn, every guest is treated to these 3. All the staff we had contact with were very nice. Rodcleff checked us in and took time to give us a lot of information about the hotel. He made it very easy for us to contact him whenever we wanted and about anything. He took very good care of us during our stay and even before we left. Adil also looked after us and even showed us parts of the hotel we didn’t know about. Whenever he saw us, our interactions were always full of positivity. We also came in contact with Nick Flynn the hotel manager. We had a great laugh, an amazing conversation and he made us feel at home. The rooms, facilities and beach were of 5* quality. The breakfast was amazing, although it did take abit of time, I’m guessing it was all freshly made which made the wait worth it. On Al Husn, you have an option of 2 beaches and are also spoilt for choice with those of the sister hotels. The lazy river in Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah is also a must do. I’ll definitely be staying again on my next visit to Muscat.

Wonderful time at this hotel for our 10th anniversary. We stayed a couple of nights in Al Waha before upgrading to Al Husn at manager Abu Bakr's recommendation. This was the best move we made, as whilst Al Waha is excellent, the adult only clifftop Al Husn is something extra special, especially for our special occasion. Cannot fault the hotel, restaurants, service and facilities here. Our experiences are too many to mention here, but suffice to say we had the most memorable stay here and will definitely be back again. I want to thank a few staff members in both hotels who went out of their way to make our trip extra special. Firstly the two Abu Bakr's (management and pool/beach side), both legends in their own right, thank you both for everything. Also to Naylinoo, Jega, Ahmed, Said and Tahir, all legends who went out of their way to make our trip memorable. Thanks to you all and apologies I did not write this review sooner. None of you have been forgotten by us. Hopefully we meet again soon!

the hotel is very nice and comfortable and all the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, but: Our diner at the first evening of our stay was a keen disappointment. Becaues it was a little bit nippy, we asked for a table inside. All the tables outside were laid very nice, only the tables inside weren't laid. There was only a cold glass plate and small plastic placemats. Under the sheet of glass, there were a lot of dark/black spots, may be burn marks. It was a little bit, like in a fast food restaurant. Additionally the plates weren't very clean at the underside. Unfortunately there were two waiters: one who said not a word and another one who explained what was on the plates. The food was patchy, but regarding to the value-for-money ratio not acceptable. After the diner, we told the waiter about these shortcomings and he makes excuses several times. At our day of departure, we were asked after our breakfast for a feedback for our stay. I think he was kind of quality-manager and so we told about our debacle. He also apologizes several times and he was very unhappy that we had to leave, because he tried his best, to atone these mistakes. We told him, that we won't blame anybody, but maybe, that our critical review can improve the drawback.

We stayed at the Shangri-La Al Husn for 8 nights. This is one of 3 hotels in the Shangri-La resort and is the adults only hotel. The others are the Al Waha and Al Bandar, This is a stunning hotel in an even more stunning location but it's let down by the service/management. Firstly, before anything else, let me say that we had a wonderful stay over New Year and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The beach and pool side service is immaculate, as is housekeeping However when you are paying 5 star prices you expect 5 star service and the Al Husn does not deliver on this front and this can spoil things. It appears to be a management rather than staff issue as the place is not short staffed. All members of staff are keen to please but do not appear to have received the training that would be expected in a 5 star hotel, for instance reception. I tried to hire a car at reception, I was given a leaflet, chose the car and reception contacted the company and were told they had no cars available. Very sorry, said the receptionist but we only work with this company so can't help you. No thought of 'let me see if I can find an alternative for you' just left to sort it out myself....not 5 star. We wanted to book dinner in Muscat. Reception contacted the venue and were told they could do a 5.30 or 9.30 table, we declined. My wife then went online and booked the restaurant for the time we wanted, 7.30. My wife could do online what reception could not.....not 5 star. We wanted to book the Bait al Bahr fish restaurant in the resort the following day for 7pm. Reception called and the earliest available table was 9.00 so we declined. Later that afternoon as I was passing the restaurant I popped in and the manager got me a table at 7pm as we had wanted. Once again I was able to make a booking where reception couldn't....not 5 star. Where was the concierge, the fixer you would expect to find in the reception of a 5 star hotel who can 'make things happen' for guests or offer alternatives when he can't? Reception booked the Al Tanoor restaurant in the hotel for 8.30 for us, again the earliest time available. We arrived and they had no booking. We were asked to sit outside for 10 minutes (no offer of a drink or the like) to see if they could fit us in. 10 minutes later we were ushered to a table in a restaurant that was no more than 40% full (why had we waited outside for 10 mins?) and why were we told there was no availability before 8.30? The person who eventually showed us to our table told us that next time it would be safer to book with them direct and not go through reception. Doesn't bode well when the staff have nop failth in internal booking procedures. The manager then came to the table, explained the menu in great detail but offered no apology for the booking mess up...not 5 star. The Sultanah restaurant, where breakfast is served, is well staffed but poorly managed. Dirty plates are allowed to pile up in sight of guests tables and staff regularly for
