My husband and I stayed for one night last week and had the most relaxing time. Check in was supposedly 3pm, however we did a partial check in online the night before which asked for an estimated time of arrival. We said 1pm as we wanted to enjoy a drink and use the facilities. We arrived around the time we'd planned and our room was ready, so we completed check in which was really quick and easy. Reception area has a very informal, relaxed feel about it, it didn't look to corporate and fit the theme of the hotel. The staff were lovely too. Our room was great, very spacious with a huge bed, a sitting area by the window which overlooked the spa gardens and hillside. Nipping clean, no complaints regarding that. We had a drink from the bar which we were able to take outside and enjoy by the stream. Due to the location, there wasn't a great deal of passing traffic and the only cars that would pass the seating along the water would be those going to/from the hotel & spa. We changed and spent some time around the indoor pool but then decided to pay the extra and use the thermal spa and Gardens. We're so pleased we did as this made our day and overall stay feel that little bit more special and definitely more relaxing. The member of staff (Genie) who greeted us at the spa was the nicest person, she was so friendly and accommodated us straight away. She gave us a quick tour, showing us what was what. She told us she'd be wandering around and should we need anything, just to give her a wave. We were very much left to enjoy ourselves and when we did fancy a drink, Genie was more than happy to wait on us. We spent a good few hours there. Later on in the evening we ate in the brasserie on site. This is more like finer dining rather than pub grub, which was also available in a different dining area. The food was absolutely incredible and again the waiting staff were great too. Nothing was a bother and the gent who served us was friendly and had a great sense of humour. Our bed was comfortable and the room was so dark and quiet. Our only critism would be that the room was too warm. It was a warm and close day, which obviously can't be helped, however there was an air conditioning unit on the wall with a sign saying it was out of use. Breakfast the following morning was beautiful. A continental help yourself selection with cereals, toast, pastries, fruit and yogurt but also a menu to choose from with items cooked to order, such as porridge, pancakes, poached eggs on toast, all the way to full cooked breakfasts. Check out was quick and effortless. All in all a fabulous one night stay. We'd definitely return and have recommended to friends and family already. Special mention again to Genie at the spa, she is a credit to the team there, what a lovely woman.
