Almondy Inn

Breakfast tasty and fresh. John and Laurence wonderful hosts and made our stay extra special while we celebrated my husband’s 65th bday. Fond memories made and we plan on going back. We had 60 degree days and enjoyed visiting with the other guests.

Thr most comfortable beds and pillows 2 min walk to Bowens wharf shopping and restaurants. Chef served hot breakfast every day and wine and cheese happy hours everyday. Staff are the friendliest in the entire area. I highly suggest the Almondy Inn to anyone visiting newport!

Had a great visit (our third) to the Almondy Inn. Gracious hospitality from making the reservation through to a friendly tip for the area as we checked out. Perfectly located to all in Newport with beautifully presented breakfast to match our desires, wonderful hosting by Shelby, and tasteful holiday decorations! Clean and spacious suite setup was perfect for our family of three…and included a cozy fireplace, too. Enjoyed 22 Bowen’s, Diego’s and the Cliff Walk. We will be back again…thanks, Almondy Inn!

Impeccable service, breakfast (I didn’t even know that lemon curd & lavender crepes existed, but now I love them), rooms, location. We couldn’t have enjoyed it more, or had better hospitality. Newport, itself, is fun to wander around, though a few of the shops/cafes are closed for the winter months.

We booked at the last minute after going to another hotel first where it was just awful. This was supposed to be a nice birthday surprise for my husband and after seeing the first hotel he just wanted to go home. So in the early morning after looking at dozens of places I found the Almondy. The amazing reviews and the location sounded great so I booked it. We were extremely lucky as they are solidly booked but had one random room for only the one night we needed. Once we arrived, both John and Laurence came out to meet us. They were so warm and kind that we felt like we’d always known them. Everything about this inn was just perfect from the cleanliness, the homemade breakfast, the wine and cheese hour, warm fresh cookies at 2 pm, and bedding to die for. I actually loved the sheets and coverlets so much that I researched and ordered some for home while we were still there. They even surprised us with champagne for my husbands birthday along with a lovely birthday card. We have traveled extensively and stayed everywhere from high end boutique hotels, B&Bs all over the country and NEVER have we ever been so comfortable and impressed with a place or the people who welcome us. It’s a few second walk to the Thames St shoppes and restaurants, trust me you will not be disappointed. My only reticence in writing this is I’m afraid you’ll all discover the little Newport Gem making it harder for us to book a stay.

The Almondy Inn is such a warm, cozy and inviting Bed and Breakfast. The innkeepers John and Laurence are the nicest people and treated us like royalty. Laurence puts her heart into the little things that make this bed and breakfast a success. Her breakfasts which include not only a delicious meal like french toast and Eggs Benedict included fresh pastries, mimosas and sculpted fruit. She also prepares freshly baked chocolate chip cookies each day. She is warm, inviting, and you feel nestled in her care. You genuinely can sense how much love and effort she puts to make everyone feel at home while staying here. John is equally as inviting and attentive to his guests. He highlighted the areas for us to visit and eat while in Newport. We thoroughly enjoyed talking to him and the care that he took in serving us along with the friendly attendant at breakfast each morning. He also gives one hundred percent to make each guest feel welcomed. The wine and cheese hour each night is such a special touch to get to know all the other guests and the innkeepers on a more personal level. The Plantation Room where we slept had all the added necessities that one could think of including ear buds, makeup towels, robes, water, coffee.. the list could go on. The bed was super comfy. The view from the large windows gave us access to see the waterways of Newport. The bedroom was fresh and updated. The inn was also beautifully decorated for Christmas with a beautiful tree and ornaments displayed in the house. Thank you Laurence and John for an amazing time in Newport! My husband and I definitely felt like we were in the Gilded Age by the way that you both pampered us. We hope to see you again when the weather isn’t frigid!!!
