I stayed at this hotel with my family in August 2022. Texel was last stop of a two week holiday driving around Belgium and Netherlands, we wanted a nice comfortable stay to end the holiday so booked this hotel at over £150/night so not cheap by any standard. The main reason for choosing the hotel was its location close to the beach and lighthouse as well as the cycling paths. The stay itself was ok, room was ok although the aircon did not work but nights were cooler so we just opened the windows. We found the staff cold and distant, at times trying to avoid us perhaps because they were not comfortable speaking in English. However all of this did not really affect our stay as the island itself is beautiful. The actual harassement started after we checked-out. On the day of check-out we had to catch 9am ferry to make it in time for Eurostar from Amsterdam. When we went to check out at 8.15am we were told the check out staff comes in after 9am so no one can help us. They had our credit card used to book room and subsequent services (bike, dinner in restaurant) so we just informed the kitchen staff and left. The same day hotel tried charging our card three separate amounts ranging from £560 - £600. The highest payment went through while the other two were flagged and declined by the credit card company. The total amount was at least £60 over the total we expected but we didn't raise a complaint waiting for the final invoice. What happened next is the most bizarre behaviour I have ever experienced, hotel staff namely Ernst Weijschede started a harassement campaign against me (as the booking was in my name) by posting comments like 'you have not paid your bill' on my Instagram profile, trying to add and post on my Linkedin profile, crossing all limits of professionalism by emailing my employer that I stayed at the hotel and left without paying the bill. All of this without actually checking with their own bank if they have put a block on the funds or have any issues at their end or doing the very basic thing of actually emailing the address/phone number on the booking. I honestly can't understand why they felt the need to go to all this effort rather than just calling up their own bank, or us or ********* through which the booking was made. When we reached out to the hotel, another staff member namely Yvo Barends made the same allegations going to the extent of saying you are deliberately not paying us. When we sent screenshots of payments made there was complete silence from the hotel. No acknowledgement of their mistake or an apology. The bill itself is even more bizarre, we were charged tax almost 3x as much as what the booking said, we were charged for an extra bike, €20 extra on the dinner. All without any explanation. No explanation as to why they trying charging three different amounts as well. We will be claiming back these extra payment via credit card company as I refuse to deal with the harassement of the staff members at Prins Hendrik T
