We visited Oxford in early December to attend commencement ceremonies at Miami University and had a terrible customer service experience at the Comfort Inn. The hotel looked nice upon arrival and the room seemed clean and of nice quality. But when it was bedtime and we climbed into the bed, two large bed bugs crawled out of the end of a bed pillow. Then, two more bed bugs emerged crawling across the sheets from area where the pillows were located. Stunned by what we were experiencing, I grabbed a zip lock bag from our luggage and collected the bugs; then took them down to the front desk to show them. The person at the front desk was apologetic about the situation, but needed to call the hotel manager for instructions on what he could do. After several minutes, we were told that he would be able to move us to another room. We moved all of our things to the 2nd room and before unpacking we looked the bed over thoroughly. In the second room we did not see bed bugs, however, there were several dead cockroaches under the bed along the wall. We showed the front desk staff this and he used his photo to either video or FaceTime the images to someone. We were then moved to a third room (a suite) and did not have any more troubles until we returned home and found that we were billed a second time. When we booked the hotel room, it was paid in advance through a third party hotel service (app). Then when we left the hotel, the hotel billed our credit card again. It took several days to straighten out the mess and get the charges credited back to our credit card. We deeply appreciated the front desk person getting us in to a safe room after several tries, but were incredibly disappointed that the hotel manager never reached out to us, apologized for the situation, or even acknowledge what had happened. Getting home to find the additional charges on our credit card was incredibly upsetting.
