Hotel Flor Rivoli

We stayed in the Flor Rivoli for two nights, from 8th-10th August. In terms of cost and location I really couldn’t fault the hotel. Hotel Flor Rivoli is steps away from a metro station, a six minute walk from the Louvre, and close to many shops and restaurants. The hotel staff were lovely, very polite and helpful. If I was travelling to Paris on a budget I would definitely consider staying at Flor Rivoli again, but only in the colder months. The reason I say this is because our room didn’t have air conditioning and it was very very hot in Paris during our stay. This meant that we had to open our windows and as a result could hear lots of street noise (to be expected in a centrally located hotel) into the early hours of the morning. The heat combined with the street noise made it very difficult to sleep.

A pleasant surprise! My initial thought was the studio room is not able to accomodate an additional bed (request) due to space constraint. However, the room being offered (in block 1) was very spacious than I expected. It seemed to be newly revamped which totally do not reflect those negative reviews by previous guests. Room was surprisingly new & clean. Coffee machine was a bonus! Good location. Walk across the river to Lourve, shopping at Samaritaine & Les Halles.

Hotel d'Aubusson

I was feeling nostalgic when I was booking our last France vacation and decided to stay here again, last time being 15 years ago. The hotel is very charming, the bar downstairs has a great selection, and every evening there is a live performance in the lounge which we really enjoyed. The rooms are tiny (memories lie I guess), if someone was sitting at the table there was literally no way to get around them other than climbing over the bed. our room was also done in a rather dark color. Very moody and nice to look at, but I think it made the room feel even more closed in. Location was great, and there were a number of great restaurants nearby a quick walk away. I really feel the staff in the hotel made our stay, and the evenings at the bar lounge were lovely and memorable. Would we stay again? Unsure, we would need to get the bigger suite a try maybe.
Hotel le Clos de Notre Dame

Let me start by saying that I have never written a review but felt that people needed to be aware of a few things regarding Hôtel Le Clos. When we arrived to our room on the fifth floor, the window was open which I thought was odd and should have been an indication of a problem. We got settled in, showered and closed the shower before leaving for the evening. When we returned, I noticed a smell. A musty, moldy smell. Upon investigating I realized the bathroom had black mold along the top of the wall (approximately 2 ft wide and 3” inches high. We called the front desk to raise our concerns. We didn’t receive much of a response. I have asthma so I wasn’t too happy. Called back to ask to be moved to another room, apparently there wasn’t another room available . I slept with an N95 mask on to avoid having any issues. The smell in the morning was terrible. We packed up and requested to be moved the following night. The new room was better but the bed sagged in the middle and I think there was probably mold but a lot less. I asked for a discount and was given 50€ off of a 200€ a night room. We were there three nights! I felt the staff didn’t do enough to resolve the problem satisfactorily. They were quite unresponsive , never apologized , just made me feel like a complainer for having made my health and safety a priority.
Hotel Prince de Conti

My adult son and I stayed for several days. It was my first trip to France and I was eager to practice my French, something I never get to do at home in the US. The staff patiently indulged me as I attempted some conversational French. Despite my limited, emerging capacity for their native language, they were helpful and encouraging. After mistakenly saying (in French) that ”I am looking for it” when I could only have meant ”I have found it,” I am happy not to have been ridiculed, but to have been surrounded by supportive people. I found the French people--from servers in restaurants and people on the streets to staffers in museums and shops--to be accepting and kind. The hotel staff reflect the wonderful people of France. Thank you, Hotel Prince de Conti staff.
