Hotel berhampiran Immeuble Moderne - Faux Vestiges, Paris

We stayed here for three nights. We arrived at 1.30pm and were told that check in wasn't until 3pm so they stored our bags while we went off exploring. The sign in the lift says check in is 2pm though so that was a bit annoying as we probably would have waited 30 minutes to freshen up. We knew the room would be small from photos and reviews, but we were not expecting the tiniest bathroom in the world. The photos of the bathroom here are quite large but there was a single square of space to stand in with the toilet and sink on either side and the shower directly in front of you. The shower was so narrow that I could not raise my arms to wash my hair properly and whenever I turned around I would knock it off by hitting off the nozzle. The width of the sink was so narrow that I could not bend my arm beside my face to get contact lenses in. I am almost certain you could sit on the toilet while washing your hands with your feet in the shower at the same time as it was so small. The location was good for us, probably 500 metres just past the busier tourist spots and close to the RERB Luxembourg stop (note that Port Royal is closed until August 2022). We had a street facing room with two sets of windows (a window and then a juliette balcony window). The road was very loud but practically silent when both sets were closed and there was aircon in the room. You could here what was going on in the other rooms though and there was no soundproofing between the bedroom and bathroom. The hairdryer provided was really good so I was glad I hadn't bothered to bring mine. Staff were friendly and pleasant and could speak some English which helped with our bad French.

DO NOT BOOK!!! STAFF ARE THIEF'S!!!! We had art work stolen from our room! We got back late on the on the last night and didn't realise it had gone it wasnt until the next morning when we was packing and leaving for the airport we realised. We quickly ran down to reception and was told there's nothing that can be done! We asked he contact the manager right away and the maids that went into our room and he said he couldn't do that, there's nothing he can do and we would need to EMAIL! We was shaking and crying and he refused to help us!! We didn't have long until our transfer arrived and we literally felt so hopless and heartbroken! The picture was a custom peice of our eyes and was a wedding anniversary gift to each other. Irreplaceable, personal and expensive! It was treat to buy such an expensive photo and had saved months to go to Paris and enjoy our 6 years wedding anniversary. We have sent and email with proof of purchase, photos of it, photos of the bag it was in and asked they check the CCTV and they have responded that they have asked the maids / staff members and they said ”they never saw it or taken it” We are disappointed to say the least! You never expect to book a hotel, thats not cheap may i add and have your room violated and your belongings stolen! The only people that could have come in our room was a staff member, windows and doors are all locked! Nothing else was taken just the peice of art, they probably hope it is worth something! It will be worth NOTHING to anybody else! But was so special to us! I hope who ever stolen it, it brings you bad luck and I hope people know this hotel is not trust worthy! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!

Really small rooms. Dark and dirty carpets. Holes on wall where door opens. Air conditioner full of dust. Paint ships everywhere. missing light bulbs on bathroom. They need to update rooms. Good location, breakfast its for en extra 12.00.

I wish I'd listened to the few recent bad reviews that had been written about this property and kept my reservation at our original small boutique, well-rated BW affiliated hotel. However, given we were only staying a night and that it was offered for a reasonable number of points for as a Bonvoy reward, I took the jump. Elite members used to decent Marriott-branded hotels, spend the extra points and choose one of the other Paris hotels (the Westin, the other Marriott or the Renaissance). I can confirm that: -AC or the hotel's ventilation system currently doesn't work. Windows don't open. We had the vent blowing on ”high” and it was just recirculating air. I have a travel clock that's also a thermometer. We never managed to cool the room below 24C. It was around 13 or 14C outside that night. Shouldn't have been that hard to cool down the room by 2-3 degrees to sleep well. I love the thick feather duvets Marriott uses, but not when the room can't be cooled down to 20-21C. When I called the service hotline, I was told they were having issues with the system and it was what it was. No offer to even bring up a fan. Nothing. It was a ”oh well, too bad” attitude. -We also had toilet issues. Our toilet flushed poorly. You had to hold the flush button for at least 30 seconds to properly flush anything. -Platinum/Titanium elite members, forget about receiving any value or being recognized here. I don't expect an upgrade to a suite or the top corner room every time I stay. I understand hotels do what they can with what they have available. Their inventory shows ”executive” rooms and diffetent types of suites available. We booked a standard ”Paris view” king room and received a ”Paris view, high floor” king room. The way the floors are built, the elevators are in the middle. There's around 15, maybe 18 rooms to the left or right of the elevator lobby on each floor. Our door was 4 doors away. Couldn't even be bothered to place us further away. That was my minimal expectation. No slippers or bathrobes in rooms here. Poor shower pressure. Good luck washing your hair if you have long ones. -Front desk: The coldest reception welcome I've received at a Marriott in a long time. I swear if Bill Marriott was still CEO, properties like this would get a call from HQ to review their staff training. We are French Canadians. The agent was struggling in French and answered us in English a few times even though we were clearly not English speakers. That was extremely odd in Paris. No mention of Bonvoy status, only that, and I quote ”breakfast is not included. Because of your membership, you can take the continental buffet tomorrow morning at the restaurant. Normally, it's not included, but we don't have a lounge at the moment”. Jeez louise, I felt like I was being handed a favour... -There's a ”Bonvoy Elite” line for the front desk, but it was neither manned or enforced in the evening when we arrrived, or the following day at check out, where the line was all t

A very pleasant hotel for a reasonable price. Clean rooms, towels changed daily Poor bathroom lighting but it's irrelevant at this price. Service very helpful and polite. A lot of restaurants in the area, a wonderful bakery with coffee and baguettes for breakfast. Subway, buses, train station, everything nearby. Fairly safe neighborhood. Of course, as everywhere in tourist agglomerations, you have to watch out for pickpockets. 30 minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower. All major attractions can be reached by metro. To Versailles by train from the nearby station for 4€. I recommend

I really recommend this hotel, the room was comfortable and the service was so amazing letting me check in rather early. The staff were very friendly and I much preferred staying in this less touristy part of Paris as it felt much safer / cleaner. I will be returning

Kleines Touristenhotel mit rund 25 Zimmern. Das Hotel liegt in 2 Min. Fussweg zur U-Bahnstation Pernety, was sehr praktisch ist. Die Zimmer im Hotel sind jedoch sehr klein. In unserem Zimmer hatte es kaum eine Ablagefläche, geschweige denn einen richtigen Schrank. Rund um das Bett 30 - 80 cm, das wars… Die Dusche war ok; für die Duschkabine darf man aber keine Platzangst haben. Eine enge Treppe führt in die Obergeschosse; der Lift ist ebenfalls klein. Der grösste Mangel im Hotel ist aber der Frühstücksraum. Für eine solche Anzahl Hotelzimmer nur 22 Sitzplätze -＞ das genügt einfach nicht. Es kann nicht sein, dass man morgens um 8.30 Uhr zum Frühstück will und dann fast eine Stunde in der Hotel-Lobby warten muss. Das Frühstück selber ist relativ spartanisch. Das Hotelpersonal dürfte auch freundlicher und kompetenter sein, angefangen bei Receptionspersonal bis hin zur Bedienung im Frühstücksraum. Alles in allem kann man dort bei einem Städtetrip übernachten - bedingungslos empfehlenswert, na ja….

Yes, rooms are very small by US standards, smaller than the smallest room I saw at the College Park (Atlanta Airport) Econo Lodge. However, they are twice as big as what they call “single rooms” in London’s budget hotels, which are half way between the traditional English phone booth and a small US closet, where you sleep in a tiny 90 centimeters army cot WITHOUT AC for the price you pay at the Los Angeles LAX Sheraton! At this CHOICE COMFORT HOTEL PORTE D’IVRY at least, you will sleep in a double bed in a small but clean room WITH AC, tiny desk and phone, and a full bath with the biggest shower (3 times bigger) that I’ve ever seen in Europe, together with the one of room 823 at the Orly Best Western Plus, which is the same size. It also has a sink with a hair dryer and a private “wishing well”, the greatest invention of mankind… Those amenities such as a big refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board that I always see in all CHOICE HOTELS (whether Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Clarion, etc.) in the US for around $100 with buffet breakfast included, are just a dream in Europe, so forget about it! I’ll say the same about the ice machine, which we find even in cheapest motels, and sometimes on every floor in high-end hotels like the Clarion. Forget it! The only place where I have seen an ice machine outside of the US was at the Gran Hotel Argentino in Buenos Aires, after I harassed the manager during more than seven years asking for it during every trip in the 1990s! THE MAIN ASSET of this Comfort Hotel Porte d’Ivry is its LOCATION. A short 4 blocks walk will put you at “Porte d’Ivry”, where you will see the terminal of bus 27 to go to “Quartier Latin”, “Notre-Dame”, “Opéra” and “Gare Saint-Lazare”, and also the terminal of bus 83, which will take you to “Port Royal” and “Sèvres-Babylone”. At the same “Porte d’Ivry”, you will also see the “Métro” (subway) line 7 going from “La Courneuve” in the north of Paris to “Mairie d’Ivry” in the south. If you enjoy traveling underground, this line will take you straight to “Chatelet” and “Opéra”. But I prefer to do that journey with bus 27. Last but not least, at that “Porte d’Ivry”, you will be able to take TRAM 3a, which circles Paris on the south and will take you from “Pont du Garigliano” on the west, to “Porte de Vincennes” on the east, where you will be able to take TRAM 3b, which circles Paris on the north side, and will take you to “Porte de la Chapelle”, where you will be able to take bus 350 to Roissy CDG. And if you fly to Orly, as I do with Iberia via Madrid, now that American Airlines have discontinued their nonstop flights 62 and 63 between Miami and Paris, then you can take the ORLYBUS and get off at the first stop in Paris, by my beloved Cité Universitaire, where I lived the best five years of my long life in the 1960s, then walk a block to “Montsouris” and take TRAM 3a to “Porte d’Ivy”, only six stations away. I was debating between a 4 or 5 star review but had to go with 4. The hotel itself is located a short 3 minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe and the Metro station. The property is very nice and the staff was excellent, English was really spoken as were many other languages. The breakfast was excellent, I'd recommend the package with breakfast included. Two reasons for the one star reduction. First, the hotel has 2 elevators. One was foam when we checked in and had been for some time. Having one elevator in a hotel with 118 rooms becomes problematic at busy times and we waited for 5 elevators more than once. It looks like either the elevator was damaged by water or mechanical or a renovation was planned, but.. I think it was the former as a renovation is done and workers are present and the situation scheduled. This was just a sign and apologies. The second issue was one evening we came back to the hotel from a day out all day to find our bathroom had 1 towel, not a full size but a bath mat sized towel. We were informed their towel service didn't return the towels that day. We baked and a second small towel showed up but, that was not well planned out. The GM did apologize profusely, but it seemed like poor inventory control to hand zero stock on hand. Otherwise, great location, fantastic staff, rooms are decent sized and well appointed.
