The hotel is very near to Nagano station, convenient to travel around. Pretty far away from Zenkoji temple, about 40min walk but can opt for train. Just take note that check out time is 10am.

Room is abit small but for short stay it’s ok. Thank you for setting up the bed for us before checking in as we have 3 person. Is only about 5 mins walk from Nagano station. Easy to locate and there’s a small ramen restaurant and sushi right next to Hotel and also Wendy’s burger. There is no bottled water provided in the room. Saw from reviews that Hotel will provide coins to buy bottled water from vending machine however I didn’t see any. Anyway, it’s small matter, no issue. Great 1 nite stay. Will consider staying the same hotel next time.

Отель выглядит старым и не очень примечателен с улицы. Но японцы ооочень хорошо убираются и там крайне чисто. Конечно же расположение крайне удобно (в соседнем здании классный рамен). Также есть раритетная техника, например кран с двумя вентилями или старенький телевизор - аутентично. Из минусов - не удалось включить кондиционер на охлаждение, только на отопление.

1. Parking - Parking is behind the hotel, and they will check your booking and give you a parking chit (駐車券). The person manning the parking situation doesn't inform you beforehand that you have to bring this chit to the lobby for check in. We left it on the dashboard as we thought it indicates that we can park here. If you're travelling with alot of baggage, it can get pretty inconvenient as you will have to walk one round around the hotel for accessible routes to avoid a flight of stairs. 2. Check in procedure - 三條-san was helping us with the check in. Did not feel welcomed, and everything just felt routined and mechanical. This was still acceptable. When it came to asking for the parking chit, we said we left it on the dashboard and whether we could return later to show it to him. We were really not informed that we had to bring it to the reception. 三條-san's face immediately showed a face of disgust and annoyance, and he mildly rolled his eyes too in displeasure. My partner immediately ran to the car to get it for him there and then. This was pretty shocking to me as I did not expect Japanese hospitality to be this rude and nobody mentioned to us to bring the chit to the reception. He could have been more patient and handled it more professionally. We were also unaware at the time of making a hotel reservation that you have to book a breakfast slot at the time of your check in. We checked in at around 7pm, and we were only left with the 6am or 6:30am breakfast slot. This felt very restrictive as everyone has different waking habits or plans for the next day (Felt like we were back in school). You were also restricted to 50 minutes duration at breakfast. Having to change my plan entirely just because of this restriction felt ridiculous. Would I get a refund of the cost of the breakfast if I can't make it for any of the breakfast timings? If this was made known at the point of the hotel reservation, I might have reconsidered as the slots for the more human timings seem to get snatched up really quickly. All in all, the check in progress was pleasant and 三條-san was a huge reason for it. I will recommend future visitors to avoid him if you see that there are other staff manning the reception desk. 3. The J floor rooms were lovely. Clean, decent size, filled with amenities and complimentary drinks even those in the fridge. The hotel room itself was lovely compared to what happened in the lobby. 4. Breakfast - Despite being left with the ridiculously early breakfast slots, breakfast spread was great. Wide range of food and if you get a window seat, you have a good view of the city.

This was a last minute selection on the train from Tokyo, but the right one. It's a short 5 minute walk from the Nagano station and has spacious rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful, but best of all, on arrival you are given a welcome drink and dessert of your choice. The entire place seems to be obsessed with desserts, to my liking. They also provides free ice cream and upon check out, bags of candy and cookies. Maybe it's a Christmas promotion, but a welcome surprise. The breakfast is a bit expensive, but has a nice selection of food choices, including salmon, more desserts, and various Japanese food. I only stayed one night, but I believe they have an onsen and other amenities. Well worth it. I stayed in other hotels in Nagano, and this one was superior.

This place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night. Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift). Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room). We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean. Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am. The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD. Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

The hotel is really well situated, less than 10 minutes from the JR station, and on the same street as the Shrine, so there were lots of places to eat nearby. I stayed in a dorm, which had more people than I expected for a room (I think I saw at least 60 bed/lockers) so it was quite loud even at night as people kept walking in and out. The actual bed was fine, and the people at the front took their time to walk me through what to know for the hostel. The lounge is a little awkwardly partitioned, but at least you get a space to use if you need food. The dorm itself, I think has a little too many people to be comfortable but is clean enough. The lights never turn off, but because you have a curtain, it blocks out most of it. The largest issue is the noise, since people are coming in and out at random times of the night, and the buttons to open the door are also quite loud when you're trying to sleep. If you want ear plugs, they have them for a fee at the front. Nagano overall was very nice though, and the location made it a lot easier to get around.

Very good location, just opposite the train station. Reception is on level 2, but staff is helpful to help carry luggages to and fro ground floor. Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries. Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day. Water was not provided complimentary to customers but instead was earned through a game.

This place is really special. It has a magnificent view of Nagano and is within 10 minutes walk from the great Zenkoji temple and the modern museum of art, which are both great sights. But/and the hotel is like something that has only barely survived from the 1980s, almost like taking af time machine. Which is kind of great...but when the carpet doesn't seem to have been cleaned since then, there are torn holes in the paper walls, cigarette burn marks on the toilet cistern...it's kind of...let's just say the place has patina and lots of it. The room itself was not dirty, but everything was kind of old and battered and not really well-kept. In a way I liked it...but too expensive for the interior standard.

This hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the train station. The room is a standard Japanese room with a desk, fridge, TV, bathroom etc, but everything is crammed. Make your luggage and spatial use is efficient to avoid tripping. There’s not much of a lobby area. Anyway, it’s a good value.
