The Smiddy Haugh

Went with brother in laws overnight to watch the Scotland game, with exception of the football score we found a hidden gem of a hotel. From the moment we arrived Niki Richard and the nice lady behind the bar couldn’t do enough to make our stay super. The pub regulars made us very welcome and the dogs were really well behaved. We had our evening meal which again was superb, beer was great and not too pricey. Bedrooms were clean and had everything we needed with a shower to die for. All in all a great find and as I promised Niki we will be back. Thank you once again.

I had the most comfortable evening in Smiddy Haugh. The bed was cosy, the food (both evening meal and breakfast) delicious, and the hosts so accommodating- offering information about the local area (I’d recommend visiting the Japanese garden at Cowden).

What a lovely find…top marks go to The Smiddy Haugh.. There are many comments on the great customer service and as soon as you walk through the door you can see why. Service with a smile, nothing is to much trouble. Room was spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed… Fantastice pillows!! Excellent value for money all round… Looking forward to my next stay.

Booked the Smiddy Haugh very last minute. I’m so glad I did. From the moment we stepped through the door we were met by the adorable Jasper. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. We sat outside in the beer garden then came inside to sit by the log fire. We had a delicious meal which was great value for money. After a great nights sleep we had a lovely breakfast. Nicki Rich and staff were all so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We will return 😊

The whole experience was first class, we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was roo much trouble. I would highly recommend staying here, the rooms were cosy and the bed was very comfortable . Nicki, rich and staff were so friendly and made our stay perfect, I didn't want to go. Perfect if you have dogs , Mr flynn (our lab) has made a friend for life 10 out of 10 😁

We had a delicious meal here today the food was outstanding. Owners were so welcoming and well worth the visit. The establishment has been recently renovated whilst maintaining the character is very modern, stunning in fact. We had Sunday roast a d the burgers and treated ourself to an amazing dessert too.

Had an amazing family meal here last night! Couldn’t fault it, all fresh home cooked food! We forgot to take pics! Plenty choice for dietary requirements. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, would highly recommend! Will definitely be back!

This is a brilliant place, I'm so glad it was recommended to us by the owners at whitemoss Pods. The pub is so cosy, welcoming, and friendly. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced. We stayed nearby at the pods and ate here 2 nights. Would definitely return if in the area.

Popped in for food and drinks while staying in the area. We ended up eating there for 2 of our 3 day stay. Food was delicious and reasonable . Even did a delicious cocktail tiramisu martini. Lovely welcoming log fire. Friendly staff. Definitely would visit again if in the area.
