My now husband and I chose to stay here for our wedding weekend, and we couldn't have chosen a more romantic and charming place. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We arrived (without warning) with several crates worth of wedding-related supplies, and their staff helped us bring it all up to our room. The rooms themselves are gorgeous and unique. Our room came with an amazing soaking tub that we enjoyed the morning of our wedding and best smelling toiletries we've ever found at a hotel. Despite the level of excitement we felt for our wedding we slept beautifully. The handsome writing desk was the perfect spot for us to write our thank you notes to our wedding vendors. Not sure why some reviews claim there isn't a breakfast? While the breakfast doesn't include hot items, the selection was great and of very high quality - fresh fruit, sandwiches, coffee, pastries, and we left happy and full. We look forward to returning for our anniversary someday!

What a beautiful hotel, perfect location- stunning views & about a 25 minute walk to fisherman’s wharf. Staff were lovely & helpful & the room was perfect. Everything you could need, extremely clean & quiet. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again & will definitely recommend.

Best hotel and location in the city for families and couples. We stayed here with our 3 little kids and absolutely loved it. The staff was so helpful and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is very quiet and has all the things you need when you travel with kids. My son had a cough and the concierge brought us a humidifier and sound machine. The location is superb with many great parks around and a cvs across the street. The valet guys are great and it was so nice to not worry about finding parking. Our kids liked Francisco Park, 2 blocks away. And the cable car was like 25 steps away from the hotel. I have nothing bad to say about this property. It is WONDERFUL! And the staff is terrific. I hope we can return soon!

Overall a great urban hotel at which I’ve stayed a number of times. Despite not being a huge fan of the W brand (a bit too trendy as I age) the location and value are hard to beat. The service is friendly and attentive; the rooms are nicely appointed—I appreciate the Nespresso machine and decent toiletries. The restaurant has good, fresh food for breakfast and friendly and efficient service. On a stay last month I came down with Covid and ended up in my room for a week; the staff was very considerate about bringing deliveries and checking to make sure I had everything I needed. They would pack room service as “to-go” items but the food was still warm and tasty when it arrived, and with everything needed for a proper meal. Note that some of the lower floor rooms don’t have much of a view beyond looking at the side of a building next door, so if that’s of importance make sure to books a higher category room.

I totally enjoyed my stay during a 4-days at this place. The location is super convenient, take 101/130/150 to go to Union square, walk a little bit and take 19 to go to Beach Road. If you are adventurous, you can actually walk to the Downtown. I had to check in early as my flight landed a bit advance. They allowed me to early check in at a nominal fee which is totally acceptable. Also the cityscape view from hotel is amazing! I felt the place is safer, all amenities provided (ironing bed, hangers, refrigerator, iron box, coffee and tea bags… so on). I would certainly stay here again and highly recommend checking this out. I really wasn't sure how much I'd like my stay at this place, but overall it was a great experience. For reference, I stayed in the Janice Joplin room (Private bedroom with Private bathroom) The Good - Convenient - Within a 5 min walk to bus lines to get you to BART station. - Clean - No bugs, no bad smells, no mold. - Affordable - You really can't beat the price when most hotels are going for 200 a night that are a 5 minute walk away. - Neighborhood - Keep in mind this is San Fran, so while not ”clean” I never felt threatened or in danger nor was I ever bothered by the homeless folks around the area. Lots of food options, even late at night. - The Building - Really cool set up, you can literally spend an hour or two in the halls learning about the music history there. Really nice to have when the cleaning team is still in your room. There is a live rehearsal studio in the building so you can sometimes hear them playing. Very colorful and chill. - The Staff - Everyone that I interacted with was friendly. The cleaning crew was friendly and flexible to my needs and came back later when I asked. I did not have any issues with items or money I left out disappearing. Check In and Out - You can do it online to expedite the process! Makes it really smooth going in and out. The bad - The Shower - In my room, the shower was very small. Elbows out and I was hitting a wall in any direction. Not a huge deal, but it just means you aren't in it for long. - No Fan - I knew going into the stay that A/C isn't really used and is building controlled, but it would've been nice if there was a ceiling fan or some other option. Windows were able to be left open which was nice! - Noise - The ONLY complaint I have about noise is the shared bathroom that was next to mine. I could hear EVERYTHING happening in that bathroom, at the beginning I thought they were actually in my bathroom. There was some music during the day (you're in a music themed hotel so expect it), but everything was super quiet in the halls at night. No elevator - At least I didn't find one. And it's a looong ways up to the 200 level. The gentlemen at the front desk did help me take my bag up the second flight of stairs, but it's a haul with your stuff. Overall - I would definitely recommend a stay here in a Private Room. I can't attest to the shared space rooms, but it was quiet, affordable, and clean during my stay. If I come back to San Fran I would gladly stay here again.
