Meliá Century Hotel Ponce

I booked a king size bed in a historical room. It was amazing. Gorgeous 20 foot ceilings in the bedroom and bathroom with a sky light privided space and natural lighting . I had a balcony looking onto a hisrorical landmark. Antiques everywhere adorned this quaint hotel. I felt like I was back in time 100 years. The photos on line did not do this hotel justice; here are some of mine. I would stay here again in a heart beat!

When we arrived to check in we were given a room that the bed was so worned out, we couldn't believe this room was assigned to us. My husband went to the lobby and told the receptionist and she placed us in another room that was much better, the bed was comfortable. We cant emphasize enough the need in these days that every rooms need a small refrigerator and a microwave. We appreciated the elegance of your Lobby and the very good service & good meal at the restaurant (B) at the Melia. This place, is a hotel not a motel, treat it like wise. The elevator was out of service. The room was in very poor conditions. The ice bucket had water with dead ants in it. The cabinet holding the tv had a broken leg. There was a collection of empty beer bottles on the balcony with cigarettes. The second day of our stay, they decided to cut out the electricity to work on the elevator. The heat was unbearable and they did not offer a room change. Other floors had electricity and there was room availability. By the way, on my way down, I noticed that the rooms on the first floor are nicer and cleaner, and the lobby is nice.

Elevator does not work. No wifi. Direct tv was not working. Cold water in the morning. Hot water at night. Runed down facility that needs a huge overhaul. Rusty doors. No attention to detail. Historic building going to ruins because of nobody paying attention. It’s a shame.

The elevator did not work and there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, but the rooms were clean and the staff in the bar and the front desk were super friendly and helpful.

This hotel, that we have stayed at many times for the past 20 years has been totally redone. The tacky furniture is the worst, they have put up many walls and ruined what the reception area used to look like. The pool area has furniture with ripped cushions and broken furniture cluttered around. It's sad because this used to be such a classy place and is of historical significance. The TV didn't work and we needed to relax for a 3am flight. Otherwise, it was nice to have the pool to cool off in and the shopping was convenient. Kings creme is always good and the lion fountain was running beautiful. The restaurant that we went to was right across the plaza from the hotel and the food was delicious.

Melia Century Hotel- HOTEL REVIEWS MUST BE FAKE! THIS ISN'T A 4 STARS HOTEL AND THE PICTURES THEY USE ARE NOT WHAT WE SEE 1 no one at the check-in area when we arrived 2 no hot water 3 no phone in the room to call the front desk 4 no breakfast when it says free breakfast 5 no internet 6 bed mattresses are old 7 bed dressing was subpar 8 carpet was old but clean 9 room decor was mixed stuff that didn't go together 10 restroom was old but was clean. New toilet. A big plus. the tub was old but clean, but no hot water. The shower hardware was old 11 towels are fluffy and look new 12 rooms had big flat screens tv but because the hotel didn't pay, for the direct TV account, we couldn't watch TV 13 elevator didn't work so we had to lug our luggage up and down 1 flight of stairs 14 There was a "world-class" Restaurant in the hotel but was closed for business because they didn't have a chef/ cook 15 door knob was broken and "bootlegged" fixed or replaced. We had to bar the door with our heavy suitcase ls at night 16 free parking in the back side of the hotel 17 homeless people in the vicinity of the hotel 18 Most businesses and attractions are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays- unrelated to the hotel

Stay AWAY For this HOTEL the interior will fool you !!!! This property is refusing to refund me as this experience has ruined my anniversary on Valentine’s Day trip to Puerto Rico. My reservation was for four days three nights we checked out the next day due to being put in a room that was so outdated and dirty the hotel had no working elevator and we was placed on 3rd floor while having a injury to my foot taking five flights of stairs , no working hot water no internet or cable so if you turn on the TV it was black and was told no good rooms could be cleaned due to lack of working employee so front desk was also doing housekeeping duties and your left waiting for front desk for over a hour. They transferred us to the sister hotel The Fox across the street which was a cheaper hotel but we paid for a king size room but at the Fox we were given a dirty room that had a full size bed no hot water and bugs filled the bathrooms they changed us to two different rooms all were horrific and still no cable air internet. I have pictures and videos. I will never stay at either hotel owned by these folks and want my stay refunded for my stay, we checked out and the front desk keeps acting like they had to consult a manager which was never seen to give us a receipt. I was never given any paperwork to sign nor receipt for nothing. Never again.
