Terokai Ulasan Tetamu Hotel di Port Douglas

Ramada Resort by Wyndham Port Douglas

This a harsher review than I would normally write. But I see others think similarly to me. The publicity and photos portray luxury. This is not luxurious and is unnervingly spartan in what it offers. Perhaps 3 star. It’s not altogether managements fault. There are practically no balconies and the rooms have no outlook. Such a shame when in the middle of the place, there is lush and pretty plant life. I am a Wyndham owner and have been for many years. But I have never encountered such meanness. Appliances in our room- virtually none. Not even a toaster on offer. As others have said, no thought given to how to dry beach or pool clothes. Charging owners for use of laundry is pusilanimous. My message to readers and management. The greatest asset here is the staff- helpful and courteous. But for Wyndham, this is a bad look and the facility needs a splash of generosity in approach and acceptable service.

Room was ok, on the smaller side, basic. Could do with a freshen up, I.e. rubbish bin in bathroom with rusting lid. TV ok, had foxtel, no streaming services. Quiet enough at night to sleep, but noisy otherwise, pool means kids up early playing and could hear people in halls/above. Not ideal if you want a holiday sleep in. Pool was nice, quite cool in temperature. Music definitely too loud, hard to relax with it cranking all day. Given the reviews was better than I expected, but wouldn’t want to stay for a long trip here. More a motel than a hotel/resort.

My mum and I shared room 15. The configuration was perfect for us, as it was actually 2 rooms with a common entrance opened up, so Mum was able to have 15B to herself. This meant she not only had her own bedroom, but her own bathroom, kitchenette, veranda, outdoor chairs and table, spa, sun lounge and pool ladder! I was in 15A (a double room in itself) and we used its much larger lounge, kitchen (full size with dishwasher), veranda and spa as our common area. Both bathrooms have walk-in showers. The pool isn't heated but it was in the sun from early morning so, even in August, I found the water plenty warm enough. It's always beautifully clean too, without noticeable chlorine, only slightly salty, good mix. Excellent location, next door to Zinc restaurant and bar, which is on the corner of Davidson and Macrossan Street. Short stroll to the beach. If you're not able to manage the walk all the way down Macrossan St to the inlet, there is a great shuttle bus service available (SR Coaches) to take you anywhere in Port Douglas for a fixed price of $8 one way or $14 return. Just call their mobile number to tell them where you are and they'll be there in a flash.

We loved this hotel . Like all the others in Port Douglas it is a low level building and this one is surrounded by lush vegetation. Right on the sea front ...you just cross a very quiet road and you are on the 4 mile beach . Breakfast is served on this side of the hotel to catch the morning sun . We had a lovely suite ,over looking the pool, good air con and fans to make it comfortable. Great facilities if you wanted them for cooking ...but you have a plethora of restaurants just 5 minutes walk away. There is also a cheap shuttle service around the town which comes very promptly. A few of the older customers used it to get out to restaurants...you also have the option of free bikes. Guests have free use of a laundry room and management had extra racks sent up in a jiffy. The friendly reception staff are great, we had a very personal welcome. The hitel has a cool beachy vibe. Nice fairly compact pool area surrounded by waterfall features and lush vegetation .

When I book a place like this I put in ”free internet” and ”Air con” without those things I am not even interested in your place. This place said they had internet, they did not! This is extremely disappointing for a place that projects as good. Also dishonest. They said ”yeah it is spotty you can come up (95 steps uphill) to the lodge”. I guess spotty means no internet in Australian. Kinda the equivalent of ”Oh, no air-con? you can come up to the lodge”......unacceptable. Another place we stayed at in the tablelands had an internet dongle in every room.

I had a terrible experience at Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas. Upon entering our room, it had a musty smell that suggested it hadn’t been aired out in years. To make matters worse, the sheets were stained, looking disturbingly like blood. The room phone didn’t work, and when I tried calling the front desk from my mobile, no one answered after three attempts. We eventually had to walk down to the front desk to get the stained sheets replaced. I was staying for work for two nights, but our reservation was split into two separate bookings without any explanation. The staff didn’t mention this at check-in, and after our first night, we were abruptly told to vacate the room immediately. When I spoke with the front desk supervisor, she confirmed we were booked for two nights, but insisted we’d have to move to a different room because of the split reservation. When I asked if they could adjust the bookings so we could stay in our room, I was denied. They said incoming guests were expecting the room right away. Feeling shocked and upset, I quickly packed up our belongings and stored them in our car before returning to the front desk. The supervisor showed very little concern for our situation, and when I pointed out that this was their mistake, she didn’t seem to take responsibility. I explained that we were there for work and I needed to leave to see a client in 15 minutes, as we were using the room as a base. She told us we’d have to wait until 2 PM to check back in, but they could hold our luggage for us. Disgusted, I decided to cancel the second night instead of being ejected from our room and then forced to wait to check back in. We quickly found another place to stay for the rest of the day and night. Additionally, I’d like to mention our experience ordering drinks and snacks by the pool on our first day. The staff tossed the food onto our table without a word, and the plate hit the table with enough force to draw attention from other guests. I noticed at least three other tables received the same careless treatment. We paid good money for a hotel that should take care of its guests, and this is not the kind of service you expect. My company used to regularly book stays at Peppers Beach Club for work trips, but after this experience, that will no longer be the case. I’m still shocked by the lack of accountability from the staff and management. This has easily been one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had, and I’ve stayed in some pretty bad places. If you’re considering a stay at Peppers Beach Club Port Douglas, I recommend looking elsewhere.
