This was our fourth trip to Redang Island. The first time we came around 18 years ago when things were quite different there. In the past, we stayed in Berjaya (now - Taaras) while this time we decided to try something new and less expensive. Friends recommend us the Coral Redang as a reasonable alternative. We did our homework and we generally knew what to expect. I should admit that the reality was significantly better than what we planned for. We stayed on the first lane with some sea view - an additional plus. What else was positive? Actually - quite a lot! The location of the resort is very good - in the middle of a nice beach, yet it was not crowded at all (especially, in comparison with the large neighbouring resorts). The sea was great and the underwater world was recovering well after being overexplored during the years before the COVID pandemic. The Dive Centre staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Special thanks are going to Mr Steven Lim and his team. We have done 8 snorkelling trips and all were just the most enjoyable explorations. Please note that the Dive Centre doesn't provide fins for snorkelling (only for diving). Thus it might be useful to get your own fins and bring them along (the same could be recommended for masks and snorkels - they are available from the Dive Centre, though the rental was a bit expensive). One thing somewhat negatively surprised me - they charged for the use of life vests (?). Normally at other places, the life jackets were for free as it was mandatory safety equipment (not what you could choose not to have). I think the resort has to revise its current practice and stop charging for the vests. We opted for the full board option and it was a very good decision indeed. The food was always fresh and tasty, and the amount was very generous. Largely the food was a local cuisine. However, the chef tried to make some new dishes every lunch and dinner. The staff at the restaurant was very helpful and friendly. We brought along a couple of bottles of wine. The restaurant allowed for it with the corkage charge of RM 40, which was reasonable. All in all, we did not have complaints about the food. Our departure and arrival were well organised and very efficient - thank you. Regarding the items for improvement, I would certainly suggest updating the WiFi equipment, and also I guess it is time to refresh the rooms as they look a bit "tired". In summary, it was a very good experience overall, and we are grateful to the staff of the Coral Resort for the great holidays on the beautiful island in the blue sea.
