My wife and I stayed at the Glacier House Resort for one night as part of a Vancouver to Saskatoon (and back) road trip. We booked directly on the hotel’s website, only a couple hours before arriving, paying $159 (including taxes) for a “Superior room, two king” in the main building. We didn’t need a particularly large room, but this was the cheapest one available. Check-in was a bit odd, but nothing we couldn’t manage. There was a self-check in link in the booking confirmation email, so we tapped on that when we arrived. It took us to another confirmation page, but didn’t provide us with any further information, so it wasn’t clear how the self-check in was supposed to function. We went into the lobby and there was no one at the front desk (or anywhere else we could see – We weren’t sure if we were the only ones on the property). There was a sign at the desk next to a phone with a (regular) 10-digit phone number to call. We tried that, but there was no answer. We then flipped the sign around and noticed a local extension number on the reverse side. We dialed that, and eventually a fellow came from somewhere out of the back. He clearly was not a hotel clerk, but he was happy to help us out. He asked if we knew our room number, and I showed him the self-check in results screen, which contained no useful information. He left for another room to look up the information about our reservation. As we were waiting, I checked my phone again and just as he came back, I realized that the self-check in process had generated an automated email that had been sent to my phone containing the check-in information. It wasn’t a big deal, but maybe some additional information in the confirmation email (e.g., “please use the self-check in link, which will generate an email that will contain your check-in information”) might have been useful. After that, everything was great. The room was very large, with a large bathroom and everything was very clean. The heating and A/C were effective and easy to control. We also double-checked to make sure the room had a TV before we booked it, since we wanted to watch the playoff (hockey) game that night. The grounds are expansive and we walked around the property in the early evening. Even though we were well into spring, we could see how the Glacier House Resort would be the perfect place for a winter getaway, especially for snowmobilers. The breakfast the next morning was a bit thin in terms of options, but we hadn’t even realized that a breakfast was included, so we considered that a bonus. Given the price, location and size of the room, this is a high-4 (out of 5) rating, which is, for the most part, the highest rating I will give (i.e., I almost never award a 5 because that essentially means it was perfect at a great price). I would stay here again and probably wouldn’t bother looking around for something potentially better.
