Stanley House Hotel & Spa

Dated: 6th December 2024. I was gifted a voucher for an overnight stay package from my son and daughter inlaw for my 50th birthday, I was really looking forward to having desi afternoon tea but unfortunately when it arrived I was very very disappointed, the quality and quantity was not good enough, the only desi savoury i got was 1 bite size pakora, 1 mini pizza bite, 1 spring roll, half kebab , i was expecting a full desi afternoon tea just how there menu says but clearly it wasn’t. I didn’t get any Indian sweet savouries with it nor did I get any sandwiches. It took more than 30 minutes to arrive and when it did, we didn’t get the sauces and was told by the staff that it comes with brewed tea when we asked for ginger desi tea. We checked on there website and the desi tea menu clearly states it comes with sauces and desi ginger tea, when we clarified with the staff, she went to the kitchen and asked the chef and he said he will prepare the sauces and tea for us. As I was biting the pakora it was raw from inside and burnt from outside, complained to the staff and she took my plate of the savouries to show the chef and he was sorry for it. I didn’t eat any of the desi tea and had to leave with disappointment. Customers shouldn’t be showing what the menu says to the staff. it clearly shows that there menu and pictures are very misleading with false information and the prices are very high according to the quantity and the quality of the food they serve. Overall besides the desi afternoon tea we enjoyed our stay with dinner and spa. Dinner we only enjoyed because they had fish & chips on the menu unlike the last time we stayed they didn’t have fish & chips on the day and we didn’t enjoy the food we ordered. I would not recommend any of my friends and family to come for desi afternoon tea at Stanley house hotel and spa

Stayed overnight and again it was fantastic . Even from check in we were made to feel extra special and looked after, our room was available early .we first did the aqua thermal bathing which was super clean organized and extremely relaxing . The spa staff are so friendly and helpful , I had a drift away massage which was lovely and relaxing my therapist even delivered extra pressure which was great so thank you for that. Our room was ground floor in the Manor House which is the stunning old building which has so much more character than the new site rooms personally my favourite. We ate lunch in mr Fred’s we were served by Rodrigo who was probably the most attentive and polite server I ve ever encountered in my life. And again at evening meal Rodrigo did not fail with fantastic service . This made the visit even more special . I even was able to order my favorite desert even tho it wasn’t on the menu so well done to the chef thank you for the best lemon posset I ve ever had . All the staff in service were very prompt and professional. Had a great sleep the room was lovely. Breakfast was a fantastic treat so much fresh fruit and a lovely cooked breakfast . Every time we visit Stanley house we are made to feel like the most special guests I hope it never loses its charm . I can never fault this place . Special mention to lexi front desk she s a lovely girl with a very calm ,relaxed and professional. Can’t wait to come back thank you to everyone who made this trip amazing . Danielle and Jennifer

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding nearby. Arrived early the day before and greeted by a lovely young lady on reception who directed us to the restaurant until our room was ready. Had an amazing lunch outside in a really pretty patio area. Service was quick food great staff lovely nothing too much trouble. When our room was ready we were given lots of information about the hotel facilities evening restaurant times as well as breakfast. Went our room and it was fabulous. Really big room amazing bathroom with bath and walk in shower you could fit half a dozen people in..... if you felt like it .... Bed was massive and soooo comfortable. View from our window was across the valley to the hills. We overlooked a small pond and lovely planting. Had a coffee sat on the deep windowsill and watched a couple of young deer feeding just 20 feet away from our window! Facilities foIr tea and coffee making included a coffee pod machine as well as range of breakfast and fruit teas. Big swivel tv loads of channels so as it had started to rain we chilled out with a coffee on the big four seater sofa and watched a film..... Evening meal in restaurant was fab. Good quality food cooked well and presented beautifully. Bottle of wine reasonably priced and a night cap and we went off to bed to be rested for the big day. We also discovered the newly weds were booked in the night of their wedding so as an extra gift we asked if we could upgrade their room to the bridal suite if one was free. They have 3. The lovely girl on reception offered to show us the one left free and said she would speak to her duty manager to sort a price which she did so we booked it. We had brought champagne as a gift so instead of taking to the venue we asked if it could be put on ice in their room for their arrival. All sorted with a smile and assurance we could leave it with them. Breakfast on the day of the wedding was so good. There's a wide range of cereals fresh fruit pastries toast and spreads along with teas and about 10 different coffee options to serve yourself. A cooked breakfast is served as you order. I can HIGHLY recommend the scrambled eggs. Cooked to perfection. We went off to the wedding but got back in time for a night cap and were informed by reception and Mick (one of the most valuable members of your team Stanley House ) who showed us a photo he'd taken of the champagne on ice along with flutes in the suite!!! Breakfast on our final day equally tasty and high quality. We will definitely be back very soon when we visit the newly weds (might give em space for a few months) and stay here rather than cramp their style .... we will also be treating them to a special meal in the fabulous restaurant. Finally a massive thank you to a number of staff whose names we managed to get, firstly Mick.... thanks for the banter mate you are a credit to the company and deserve a another gold star.
