DoubleTree by Hilton Lagoa Azores

We absolutely loved staying at DoubleTree by Hilton in the Azores. The hotel, and the rooms, were extremely clean and well taken care of. The staff is super efficient and kind making you feel welcome all the time and worried about your every need. Breakfast was amazing, with great quality and variety. The location of the hotel is perfect for people who wish to get to know the island with easy access to every point you might want to visit. It has free and easy parking right at the door. The indoor pool, sauna and turkish bath are something to die for, definitely worth the visit. Honestly, it was just the best experience and I highly recommend satying at the hotel.

This was the first time that I´ve been to Azores and I stayed at this beautiful hotel, I loved the food, my room was very comfy and the staff was amazing, among them I met the employee Márcio Vieira. He was very friendly and professional, gave me the best tips of restaurants and assured that I always had something to do. This trip exceeded my expectations, the hotel had a very nice location and for sure that I´ll be back to enjoy everything that I missed out.

Beautiful hotel with great facilities. The hotel is brand new and has a great location in Lagoa, which is central in the Island. The hotel has a great restaurant, rooftop bar, and spa. The breakfast has a great variety and lots of options. Marcia from the spa was amazing and I had two wonderful massages with her. Carolina and Vania from breakfast are amazing ladies!

Expect some frustration with this place. Hotel has been open for several months now, and still experiencing multiple issues. The hotel may look nice but the staff needs more training in hospitality as stated by another individual. The pros: clean room/bathrooms, modern looks and ascetically pleasing hotel design. The included breakfast is amazing with a made to order omelette bar, plenty of pasties, meat, vegan options, fruit, and yogurts. The inside pool is artistic and clean. The location is great if you have a rental car with plenty of free parking options. If you do not have a car, you will need to take a taxi as walking is not safe. The cons: The rudest Hilton staff I’ve encountered so far in my traveling journeys. The outside pool has been closed for 4 days now due to “staff parties, birthday parties, and excuses” the staff has not been helpful with ensuring that the outside pool will be open for guests anytime soon. There are 4 lounges chairs(nothing else to sit on) for the indoor pool, which is very odd given the space capacity. The “hot tub” is not actually hot(same temp as the pool), and the jets automatically turn off after 120 seconds of use. Again, very strange The shower door, as mentioned by others, has a serious design flaw that promotes flooding of bathroom. @Hilton, please fix this before you develop mold issues. If you are a platinum member, they do not honer the per diem benefit of platinum members. The pool(when you are allowed to use it) is open from 11am-8pm. No exceptions Overall, a Hilton experience that does not live up to the Hilton name experience expected. Not sure if I would return.

As the Hotel is quite new, the rooms and all facilities have been modern and clean. Our room was clean, spacious and very quiet at night. They serve a very good breakfast with local products and have a small terrace to eat outside. They have an indoor and outdoor pool. Unfortunately the indoor pool and wellness area were closed, which they told us during check in. The outdoor pool is located on the rooftop with a nice bar und Restaurant, but was opened after breakfast and closed at 7pm. So you have a nice rooftop bar, serving food and you close it at 7pm? One thing bothered us the most: Service at the pool bar was extremely lazy and incompetent. We waited so long for drinks and to be served, staff barely spoke to us and rather liked to chat with each other. How can be service in the morning at breakfast so different, compared to the pool bar in the same Hotel? As for the location I have to mention, that a rental car is a necessity there. There is plenty of free parking around the hotel. Unfortunately this leads to the fact, that this Hotel has no nice views.
