Beyond reception the hotel is tired with weird colour schemes it is quite depressing. Our room was very hot and the air conditioning did not work, only heating the room further. Was told by reception the AC was in fact turned off and they knew it was hot. Kept the window open all night and could really sleep because of the noise from the busy road outside. It gets worse… Early hours of the morning and it started raining. Short time after we heard dripping only to find the ceiling leaking rainwater. It was dripping on the bedside table and running down the wall. The hotel knew about this leak as there was existing staining to the ceiling and wall and the bedside table was swollen/blistered. It’s one thing for the ceiling to leak. It’s another to put guests in a room when you know the roof will leak if it rains. Appalling! To top it off, the toilet seat was loose. Caution was required with careful lowering in order to avoid the seat slipping sideways andcastrating me in the process. This was our third stay at B&B Hotels in France during a road trip this September. The first stay at B&B Epernay couldn’t be faulted - new, clean hotel with friendly staff. Second stay was at B&B Sete - filthy room/bathroom, tired hotel which felt more like a hostel. I complained to B&B HQ and was offered a complimentary stay which we used at this B&B hotel in Rouen. Did nothing to improve my opinion and underlined my suspicions. B&B Hotels are now owned by investment bankers Goldman Sachs. I suspect maintenance/cleaning budgets etc have been slashed to increase profitability in order to increase the value of the group in anticipation of a future sale. That’s what investment bankers do. At guests expense. My advice? Unless it’s a new B&B Hotel, probably avoid them. There are plenty of similar hotel brands that do it better.
