The property overlooks the little village and our room had water views as well. It is secluded and quiet and an easy stroll into the village- be prepared to walk off your dinner on return as it is uphill! The owners were welcoming and friendly offering recommendations as requested and local knowledge. The room was spacious and decorated and fitted to a very high standard The shower pressure was amazing and plenty of hot water. The bathroom had double basins and a bidet along with heated towel racks. There was a kitchenette that provided ample options for staying in and cooking along with a draw dishwasher. The Nespresso machine was appreciated. We loved the fact that there were comfortable lounge chairs as well as a veranda with table and chairs. The king size bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. A nice touch were the robes. There is a guest laundry available which we used and it was clean and everything provided for a nominal cost. DVDs were available there as were books for guests . We would love to stay longer next time as 2 nights was not enough. These are passionate hosts who know how to run an establishment. From our many trips to both Islands from across the ditch this establishment is up there with the best.

Der Holiday-Park ist an der Zufahrtsstraße nach Russel ganz gut gelegen. Man muss allerdings noch 5 Minuten bis zur Ortschaft fahren. Russel selbst ist eine tolle kleine Ortschaft, welche auch schöne Strände bietet. Der Holiday-Park hat einen Pool und mehrere Außensitzbereiche, die ganz nett sind. Ein Teil der Cabins hat auch Außenbestuhlung mit Tisch, sowie ein Lounge-Ei. Die Cabins wurden über den Tag unerträglich heiß. Erst am Abend war die Luft darin zu ertragen. Lüften war nur schwer möglich, da man keinen Durchzug herstellen konnte. Da half auch der Ventilator nicht viel. Die weiteren Einrichtungen wie Küche, Innen-Gemeinschaftsbereich und Bad sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen und benötigen etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit. Dort sollte man nicht allzu viel erwarten. Die Grundausstattung ist aber gegeben. Da die Unterkunft auf Tankwasser-Versorgung angewiesen ist, gab es bei uns den Zwischenfall, dass wir für 2-3h kein Wasser hatten, bis wir die Inhaber informiert haben. Das Internet ist auf 500MB pro Tag pro Device limitiert, was uns etwas störte. Der Park will hier zusätzlich Geld verdienen und verkauft Datenpässe.

Excellent beachside location.First rate views over Paihia.Room was spacious and included full kitchen and washer/dryer.Very comfortable bed which was a pleasure to sleep on.We liked being able to cook a meal at home whilst on our trip.The only small complaint was the tight exit from the underground carpark.If you have a large 4WD you need to take care

My husband and I stayed at Ala Moana for a month (mid-February to mid-March) and were very happy with this accommodation. John is a marvelous, friendly, helpful host, and he and staff member William keep the units clean, fresh, and comfortable. The daily service was more than we needed, but they always checked and offered. John accommodated our requests and went out of his way to be sure we had everything we needed. He even ordered a couple of beach chairs so we could sit in the shade at the beach! (YES! This beach has shade, some benches, and calm, peaceful, protected waters. Whether first thing in the morning or later in the day, it makes for a delightful refreshing swim!) The location directly across from the beach and at most a 5-minute walk to shops, the wharf, and restaurants, was perfect! Some have mentioned the bar next door. Even though it looks like a fun, local place, we knew there was live music some nights, and we wondered if noise would be a problem. At least from our location in #3, noise was NEVER an issue. It was perfectly quiet. We had a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette (no oven or freezer) (unit #3). The bed is very comfortable, the area is spacious, the basics for cooking and dining are provided. (I should note that we didn’t really cook at all, but we brought things in for breakfasts, lunches, and snacks and ate there frequently.) There was a comfy sitting area for reading, doing projects, playing games, enjoying wine and cheese, or watching TV. The decor was simple and tasteful. For us, comfort trumps decor, so we weren’t looking for high-end interior design. Furnishings included a kitchen table with chairs, a coffee table in the sitting room, sofa, day bed, small patio table and chairs on the little deck, plus a fantastic view balcony patio overlooking the bay for shared use (which makes up for the fact that the unit’s deck faces the parking spots). Other shared amenities include washers, dryers, clothesline, ice. Some things that make me especially happy: lots of storage (closets, drawers) to unpack everything, ample towel racks and hooks for wet linens, beach towels, bathing suits, shelves in the bathroom to organize toiletries, plenty of outlets for charging phones, laptop, etc. These are little touches that so many places lack and that greatly enhanced the convenience and enjoyment of our stay. While most guests were there for one night to a few nights, we would definitely recommend it for a short or longer stay and hope to return for 1-2 months again!

It's more of a 3.5 out of 5 to be really fair. We do travel a lot so I know what we look for in a hotel. Good *Air con - we picked this venue as it was one of only a few with air con. *Comfy beds - great sleep. *Quiet rooms. *Great location. *Breakfast was nice but no cheese and it was an extra cost. *Room facilities - iron etc good, appreciate real milk in fridge. Coffee is nicer in the room than at breakfast. *Bathroom facilities were good. Make up flannel is a good idea and lighting was good round mirror. Not so good. Timing of Breakfast - 6 til 9. I'd like the option of a lie in on holiday. 10am would be better. *Wifi - poor!! I understand it's being updated soon. *Water - tasty funky. Be nice to have a couple of large bottles in the fridge. *Check out is again too early. It felt like we didn't get our money worth. I'd have visited the gym and pool if we'd checked out at 11 or 12 which is what we've been used to. In conclusion it was a nice comfy stay but overpriced fit what we had, it felt more ”autolodge” with a seaview price tag. Will look out for offers if the wifi is indeed updated.
