Hotel Contessa - Suites on the Riverwalk

Contessa was great! Only negative was not having a microwave in the room to warm up leftovers, but that’s it. Staff and restaurant were all awesome! Beautiful location and rooms were so clean! Most comfortable bed I’ve set in at a hotel.

Hotel Contessa is a gem. Perfect location to the San Antonio riverwalk and only a ten minute drive to the airport. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was accomodating and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be back to visit.

We stayed at the Hotel Contessa San Antonio for a work conference held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. It was an easy walk to the convention center from the Hotel Contessa. (Less than 10 minutes even though one of our employees walks slow.) Our Bellhop was a complete joy! AJ exuded pride in the Hotel Contessa. He shared bits of history about the Contessa with us, locations of the Hotel amenities, and made sure each of us were satisfied when we got to our rooms. Both Joe (at check-in) and AJ contributed to our positive experience. I didn't get his name, but even our valet was a joy to interact with! Our rooms were exceptional. The beds were soft and comfortable. (If you need a very firm mattress, like my husband, the couch provided an alternative place to sleep. It wasnt a sofa sleeper, but was large enough for a person to sleep on.) The bed sheets were stiffer than what I am accustomed to but not uncomfortable. I actually slept wonderfully! I loved the layout of our rooms. Very roomy! The showers are somewhat dated but everything was clean. There are large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mounted in the showers. They provided lotion, makeup wipes and a vanity kit. The in-room Keurig coffee was very good. There is also a mini fridge and safe in the room. However, there wasn't a microwave. Most importantly, the AC worked great. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel in the perfect location on the riverwalk that allowed to explore the city by feet. Nice pool. Room big and very confortable! The restaurant that offer breakfast and the valet parking little expensive.

Everyone was very nice. Other than my room not being clean until after 6:30 PM. The place was lovely.

The staff was friendly. The property was clean and well-maintained. The room outweigh our expectations. It’s right on the Riverwalk. I would definitely recommend and will be staying there again.

Our overall experience with the property was mixed. The actual amenities were excellent and many of the staff were friendly and helpful. We had incredible service at the restaurant each time we went from the hostess to every server and staff member. The Mariachi band was phenomenal. I’m telling you I have never heard such beautifully performed music in a hotel. It was the nicest surprise. HOWEVER… There were several things that were overlooked while we were there. Among them were that we weren’t able to get housekeeping to clean our room, finally sometime during the late evening towels were brought to our room. We ran out of coffee pods, beds were never made. We called at least twice during the day and were told housekeeping would come but they never did. When we left we called at 10:00 to schedule a bellman to come for our suitcases at 10:45 (11:00 checkout). Thankfully we weren’t in a hurry to catch a plane. No one ever showed up so at 11:15 we shouldered our considerable load ourselves. Sadly, there was nothing to draw us back. I would rather take my chances at one of the other riverfront hotels.

Fantastic location, charm, and staff. The elevators were noticeably noisy even from inside of our room and there were some minor maintenance oversights (broken toilet paper roll holder). But overall a really great experience. The suites are large and comfortable.
