Il Castagnolo BB Country House

The place is really nice, the location is amazing. The view, the nature all around, the people of the area, everything was lovely. Marika and Massimo were very helpful and friendly. The little village near by, San Gimignano is so beautiful too, with plenty of restaurants and good food.

The location is located very good between Florence and Pisa,I think 6 km to San Gigmiano (where you can find good restaurants to eat) the view is amazing, the bed very confortable, the garden so nice, the staf so kind and the breakfast good! Good wine and good cappucino! We will definetly come back! Thank you!!

Nice hotel. Clean rooms. Authentic environment. Nice to stay if you need a calm place to rest, relax and enjoy the nature. Nice breakfast. To the nearest trattoria from 3 till 5 km, so you need a car here. As a pleasant surprise we were provided a bottle of local white wine when checked out.

We had a wonderful time at Il Castagnolo and wish we had stayed longer. The property is beautiful, very comfortable and the location is awesome. Tasty and home made breakfast, very kind staff and clean facilities. Would definitely go back. Thank you

This place is stunning! Laura looked after us superbly and nothing was too much trouble. The property make their own white wine and olive oil which were delicious. Breakfast offered a good continental selection and the coffee was incredible! Pool was a welcome touch and offered plentiful space to relax and unwind. Our room was a little small and was the basic room. Our friend had a larger room so make sure to check that. It’s only around 12-15 rooms. Main tip is you must have a car! We banked on a taxi from San Gimignano and battled over 4 hours to get one! Ruined the vibe at the start of our break. It’s very remote. Would still highly recommend. We will be back.

Great little hotel around 4km from San Gimignano. A car is a MUST! We assumed we would get a taxi from town but oh no! 4 hours later we finally begged a taxi to come back for us. This hotel is idyllic, charming and amazingly run by Laura. No English spoken but it didn’t matter. She is a delight and would do anything for us. Luckily she speaks Spanish as did my wife. She even gave us a bottle of their home grown wine as a parting gift! The wine and olive oil they make are out of this world! Our room was a little poky but we discovered bigger rooms were available. Check when booking. It was very clean and serviced daily. Breakfast was great. Continental meats, cheese, pastries, cakes (made by Laura). Cafe Macchiato was incredible! Lunch and dinner food options are limited but they do have a kitchen with fridge you can use. Food and bar closed at 7. Worth bringing your own food & drinks. Local wine was around €13 a bottle so great value and delicious should you buy at the property. The pool area is amazing! Relaxing and peaceful. Just birds tweeting and the odd cyclist on the nearby road. We didn’t see any people some days. Felt like our own private villa! Highly recommended just make sure to get a car!

Loved the place. Very friendly host and very cosy atmosphere. Very easy to find. Close to San Gimignano where there are many nice restaurants and food places. Only thing that could have been better was the WiFI.

Landelijk gelegen tussen de wijngaarden op nog geen 10 minuten rijden van San Gimignano. Voldoende parkeerplaatsen bij het complex. Tuin is goed onderhouden. Prachtig uitzicht. Ontbijt was goed en je kan er ook lunchen (hebben wij niet gedaan). Ook kan je tot circa 18:00 drankjes bestellen. Er is een gezamenlijke keuken (niet bedoeld om in te koken). met koelkast. Er is geen glaswerk aanwezig in de keuken. Het personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kamer was in renaissance stijl ingericht. Tip: Wij hebben gegeten bij 'agriturismo il rustico' op circa 10 minuten rijden van het complex. Prachtig uitzicht en zalig gegeten voor een prima prijs. Personeel is uiterst vriendelijk. Echt een aanrader! Wel van te voren reserveren!
