Our stay was the best. Thank you to Sergio and Diana for their hospitality, the hotel staff was also so very kind, it makes you feel like home. Food is delicious and at a reasonable price, the sea is just there (very close) and the pool is nice and refreshing. The room was clean and perhaps a little small, but it depends on how much clothing and stuff you carry with you. For us was just perfect and we stayed 4 nights. They even recommend transportation from Santa Marta’s airport and it was great too. No doubt we’ll come back there.

First, understand that this is a quiet place, with a low amount of guests. The property is excellent for relaxing. The pool is a tranquil and in excellent condition. The property has quick access to its own beach. The rooms are comfortable with air conditioning. Possibly the best part of your stay is the restaurant and it's excellent chef.

Excellent place to have some relaxation and disconnection days. Really nice and helpful staff always ready to help and guide. They make you feel as part of the family. Beautiful and clean facilities in front of the sea, full of birds and nature. The menu has many options of food, generous plates and delicious!

Like all the reviews say, this is a cozy, relaxing place to stay. Some things that you should know are: a taxi from the airport takes about 1.5 hours and costs $64 CAN one way. There are buses or car rentals (if you can get one). It is a secluded location with a 1 km walk to the road, but they have a good restaurant with reasonably priced and excellent food. The beach is ok, but there are many days you don’t want to swim because of the waves, possible undertow and the debris that is near the shore. I was kept awake by the neighbor's music one night till midnight. The owner apologized for this and said it only happens once in a while. The owners are retired and were onsite most of the time. He was nice to drove us to the nearby waterfalls and helped organize a trip to a finka (estate that grows cocoa).

The environment was pleasant and welcoming. Both check-in and check-out were professionally handled and easy. Great atmosphere and service, spotless hotel, amazing staff. The Hotel is not accesible for wheelchair users, however Ms Mónica and her team went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable!

I visited the wonderful La Mar de Bien this weekend and can confirm it is fantastic. It's perfect for a relaxing break for couples, families or even solo like myself with its direct beach front location, well sized pool and lovely staff. Special mention for the kitchen who prepared some of the best food I had on my trip, the beach front bar and the delightful (and well priced) massage I got in a cabana right on the beach front all of which made my weekend one to remember :) Its definitely a great option to visit for a relaxing, wholesome and aesthetically pleasing get away!

Beautiful and peaceful, this hotel is perfect for a good rest. All the hotel staff are lovely, very nice and willing to help you. The food is amazing, the rooms are very comfortable and the surroundings are astonishing. I certainly recommend la Mar de Bien.

Our only regret is we were not able to stay longer! This hotel is a wonderful slice of paradise. It is set on a stunning, very untouched stretch of the Colombian Caribbean coastline in spacious beautiful gardens. There are beach loungers on the sandy beach from which you can enjoy the coastal views but the sea is on the rougher side for swimming here. However there is a large very nice heated swimming pool (with more loungers) you can safely swim instead. Our room was huge, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The shower had hot water which was not something we found often in Colombia! Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and a special mention goes to Freddo who looked after us so very well. The food the hotel offers in its little restaurant is absolutely delicious! We had a very memorable dinner in the garden and breakfast was also excellent. The free filtered drinking water machine to refill your own bottles was a nice touch. We would love to return here some day.

This place is a paradise! Right on the ocean, amazing beautiful pool. Very nice property and huge palm trees. Excellent restaurant on the premises so you don’t have to leave. Easy to get a taxi to the park entrance of Tayrona or the airport. Really good massage therapist here!!!! So relaxing, a perfect stay!

The beach here is truly breathtaking, and the hotel was quiet when we visited, meaning we mostly had it to ourselves. Nice selection of straw covered shade canopies and seating, tasteful pool - though latter isn't particularly close to the sea. Room is pretty nicely designed - no aircon, but fans were sufficient. Mosquito netting was broken though - we reported but it wasn't resolved, so we ended up with a lot of bites. Having read the glowing reviews, we were looking forward to outstanding service - but sadly, while most staff were friendly (not all - some of the restaurant staff weren't great), service was pretty basic. Not enough staff - no one manning the beach bar for our first 2 days (though on the final day the gentleman there was lovely - Jason I think), and in the restaurant the staff tend to hide near the kitchen instead of monitoring tables - so you have to go chasing to find them. Not really acceptable given the high food prices - circa 50-60k COP for a main (which were good, but not exceptional IMO). Reception was mixed too - on our last day we wanted help with various issues and for some reason the manager/receptionist was away in her office having a meeting for ~45-60 minutes, with no one covering the desk. There was no particular effort to help with problems we were experiencing - there's no ATMs locally so we were out of cash, and asked to add 50k COP (about £10 / $12) to our bill and get that as cash, but they claimed they had zero cash available - hard to believe in a region that runs on cash. Finally - we got a moto taxi back to the hotel in the early hours of the morning one evening - and found the main hotel gate locked, meaning we had no way to get in. We had to be dropped off in scrub land adjacent to the hotel in the pitch black, then wander until we found a fence to climb over. Dangerous and avoidable if we'd been warned in advance. In summary - a stunning location, but the poor service falls well short of the premium hotel prices they charge, in an area with ample cheaper competition with the same views.

Best place ever stay in Colombia ,very frendly staff . Very close to Carribean Sea .Good food in restourant .Very clean. Close to Tyrona National Park ,close to Minca and Sierra Nevada Mts. Close to Santa Marta. Very safe. The owner Don Sergio ,and his wife and recepcjonist Samanta and Monica ,make the stay amazing and unforgetable.

We chose this hotel because of the positive reviews We were not disappointed. Monica arranged all things we wanted including a free tour cancelation when I was a bit sick. This is a great spot for the Parque Tayrona excursion, fifteen minutes by bus and you are at the entrance. Meals are very tasteful and there is a broad choice. We had a very spacious room with a balcony over two sides of the building. The beach bar is always open and it was a pleasure having a chat with Yason. Highly recomnended!

An absolute gem of a find . I cannot recommend this place highly enough it is the epitome of relaxed in beautiful surroundings, beach front with a beautiful pool area . The accommodation is spotless comfortable and well appointed. The hotels biggest asset is the staff . The customer service is exceptional better than 5 * iv stayed . Friendly attentive always with a smile they cannot do enough for you but in no way intrusive. The next biggest asset is the foundation local produce presented beautifully only matched by the taste by far the best iv had in Colombia. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. While relaxed their is a host of excursions to suit every taste and budget . The most exerting activity we took part in was a massage on the beach ; I can highly recommend the chocolate and coffee herbal rub and massage . Our only regret is we didn’t find it earlier Book a trip you will not regret it

We have just returned from Colombia, spending our last four nights at La Mar de Bien. We are so glad we did! Our time at this small, boutique hotel went far too quickly; we were treated to professional, kind and friendly service at all points of our stay. La Mar de Bien is brilliantly located if you wish to visit Tayrona National Park and/or go tubing on Rio Don Diego (other tours can also be booked via the hotel) - we did both and returned happy in the knowledge we were coming back to a clean, comfortable room with AC (we stayed in the detached bungalow) and a really lovely swimming pool which is just long enough for laps. The honesty bar worked really well and the food - at all points of the day- was delicious. Thank you to everyone at La Mar de Bien for such a lovely stay, we felt very welcome. Celia and David.
